5k for 2L IDV? Our 4 year old i10 with 1.75L IDV comes at 2.2k.

Dealer get a huge commission from insurance. My Dzire with an IDV for 6L is 18k and i suspect dealer got atleast 5-6k as commission.

Aplogies regarding wrong info about my friend's Cruze. Just double checked with my friend. Yes he has ordinary insurance for his Cruze. And no he dosn't have NCB from any other vehicle for his cruze. For 12L IDV and insurance cover of 1L per passenger for 5 paasenger he paid 17100 as premium including tax. For bumper to bumper insurance the quote given to him was 23700. If you want i can send you the email quote provided to him[:)]

I am definitely going with BajajAllianz or through my dad's friend who works at New India Insurance as i am a bit tight on cash and can't afford the insurance from dealership.

Sankar
Rs. 2.2k insurance for a car? Seriously? I didn't know it could be that cheap. I thought 5k was cheap!!! BTW, the insurance for my Getz is done by a person who stays near my house who is an insurance agent. He gave me discounts for installing an aftermarket security system and that is why the insurance is this low. Else it would have been slightly higher.
How do you people get such low rates while I am (always?) overcharged? Next time I renew my insurance, I will get in touch with you before hand [;)]

It's 1.2 TDI Diesel.
COongratulations on the new car [clap] Why did you buy the Polo though? For city runs? For the highway, you have the Vento. Which colour and which variant? Ownership review?

Oh okay. Seems like there are a lot of white Polos here. The Polo is one car that looks good in every color [:)] So now you have the Vento and the Polo. Since you are planning on upgrading the Vento, the XUV500 is a nice choice. A very good car for the money and powerful as well. I have driven my friend's XUV and I must say, it was a revelation. It felt car-like to drive and had more than enough power on tap and was fully loaded too. Lovely car.

One week of parking Princess in my college parking lot and the birds decide to use her as their own toilet. And the dust does not help matters at all.
Also a face-to-face shot of her along with my girl's Punto.

My dad's friend works in New India Insurance which is probably why i get much better rates. Insurance agents gets lot of commission for each policy. In your case your friend might not be permanent employee of the insurance company, just an agent. In such a case he has to go through a staff at the company for your policy. So your paying commission for 2 guys, one the agent and another the employee. In my case i go directly to the employee which is why i get lower quotes. This is just my guess Vipin. I might be entirely wrong also.

What happened to your polo? Didn't you use it for sometime? Bit surprised as you are a guy who keep the car in without a small stain 24/7[:)]

Hey Sankar

The person I give my insurance renewal to is a direct employee too. He works there full time. So no second commission I guess. But idk why it is so expensive.
On another note, one of my friends who has the Jetta got the second insurance renewed for a premium of Rs. 406xx. I forgot to check what the IDV of the car was. This was also done at Bajaj Allianz.

Regarding my Polo. Nothing happened to it. I use my car every week and during the weekdays, I leave it in my college parking lot, which is an open lot with a lot of dust. The lot is also lined by almond trees which provides shelter to lots of birds I guess. These bird always poop on my car and since I leave it parked there for a week (atleast 2-3 days in a row), the amount of poop increases, along with the amount of dust accumulated in it. I always wash her when I get a chance (ie, when I go to my flat or when I go home). On Sundays, my car is extremely clean and shiny but all that changes within a couple of days [frustration] Nothing can be done as legally, we are not allowed to bring our cars to the college and all of us park the car in the open parking lot (only doctors get car sheds).

My car's insurance is up for renewal on March 2014. Lets see the quotes that i receive. SHall update you. The amount i have in my mind is anywhere less than 10k with bumper to bumper cover (or 7-8k with ordinary insurance).

That would be excellent if you got your insurance renewed at that rate. If so, maybe next time, you could help me renew my insurance too? [glasses] [:D]

A couple of pictures of Princess I took yesterday.
Murphy's law prevailed. Yesterday morning was very hot and dry in Kollam. There were no rains the previous day either. So I thought I'd give her a nice long wash and wax session. I spent three hours cleaning up the car (even though I have an exam tomorrow). I was sweating like a pig by the time I finished. I had gone inside my house to keep the bucket and the microfibres I used in the bathroom. I returned back to my hall to see that it was raining cats and dogs outside. Since my porch is open on three sides, the car was covered in spray from the rain. These pictures were taken while it was raining.

Unlucky mate[lol]

I had to drive my car through atleast 2 feet of standing water yesterday. At times i felt a small boat would have been the best means of transportation yesterday night. God knows what all damages might have happened [frustration]. One damage was one of Root horns were not working properly yesterday night after i waded through deep water. But today morning it was working flawlessly.[:D]

Oh yea. Horns tend not to work for sometime when they become really wet. But it becomes fine when it dries. I've had the same issue with my bike.
It was raining cats and dogs in TVM but Kollam was as dry as a desert. And it changed all of a sudden as soon as I finished washing my car. My mom was like "Why didn't you wash the car earlier? It would have started raining earlier [:D]"

One question here, I own a Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline, bought it around the end of September 2012, but the place where your display shows mileage, mine shows Temperature, any ideas?

Does your Polo have the same TRIP toggle button on the wiper stalk? That is the switch that helps you switch between various display options such as average mileage, instantaneous mileage, temperature, DTE, digital speedo, average speed, etc.
If you don't have that switch, the display cannot be changed. You'll have to visit the A.S.S for that.
