4 months ago,we got our Vento Diesel serviced and got Rs.11300.Its first service. After driving it for 10K after service,Car drives like a brand new Car except AC cooling issue.Yes,AC is getting its own time to get it cooled.
Heya

Do you remember what the labour and parts costs where? Do you have the bill? If so, a photo would be helpful. I have a photo of the bill which I will upload as soon as I can.

Re: First service update

Yes Sankar. Thankfully, no problems with the service. I have taken a picture of the bill but can't upload it because I'm using a Macbook Pro which doesn't detect my S3. Need to get my windows laptop which is unfortunately in my room in the hostel.

Hmm. For routine service EVM VW would do fine. But when it comes to technical stuff like intense trouble shooting of troubles i am afraid they might not be that technical. Technical troubleshooting requires experienced professionals with direct VW training. I seriously doubt if they have such staff in EVM Trivandrum.

Vipin see Abinav's Vento was charged 11k for first service. I am sure EVM is charging more from unsuspecting customers.

Sankar

Finally. After searching the house with a fine toothed comb, my girl managed to find the bill, albeit in a crumpled condition. Here is a photo of the relevant parts of the bill - the labour charges and parts charges. Excuse the poor picture quality.

The total for the parts comes to Rs. 7939.99. Let me see if I can find other VW owners who have done the first service and compare this bill with theirs.

I think the part details are fine. Its the labor details from item 8 to 14 which are hiking the bill totaling around Rs. 2300. Even then the cost of wheel align./bal. and washing shouldn't cross 1500 Rs.
Now if you remove 2300 from your total bill, the net would come around 9600 Rs which is very much in line with service cost of polo tdi.

So, I think there is not much to be worried about!!

I read on another forum about a member from Trivandrum who got his Polo TDI serviced (first service) from EVM Trivandrum last week or so. His bill came to Rs. 12,900!!! He hasn't put up the details yet though. Seems like EVM charges in the same range for everyone.

On another note. I am looking at getting the steering wheel covered in leather (for the OEM look). Anyone over here has done the same thing for their Polo? Any idea as to how much it would cost? A rough figure will do.

Where did you get it done Sankar? And how is the fit and finish? Any chance I can see a picture of it? Also, did they remove the steering when they had to get it done?

I got it done at CarPark car accessories. They charged me around 1000 for the job. No they didn't remove the steering. Stitched the cover to the steering without removing the steering. The cover has good OE finish and quality[:)]

Where is CarPark? I asked a place at Nanthencode (I think its the only car accessories shop there. Forgot it's name). They said Rs. 1300 for Polo's steering wheel and they'll need one hour to do the job. Might get it done sometime in the coming week.

CarPark is located in Madevan Building, Thampanoor, Trivandrum. My dad knows the owner of Carpark very well. I can vouch for their quality and can get you some discounts[;)]

Also we still need to do that Ernakulam trip to visit 3M Car care for a detailing session[:D]

Regards,
Sankar
More than my Polo, my Getz badly needs a detailing session. The car is full of swirl marks (courtesy our servant boy who used to clean the car for the past three months when my dad was using her) and the interior is covered in filth (courtesy multiple trips daily with five or even six people - the reason is a battle going on in our area [evil] It was there in the news recently). She badly needs a visit to 3M to get her back to how she was when I looked after her.

Anytime in the first week of October? Let me check and get back to you. I should be able to skip one day of class then and bring my Getz. I'll get the Polo done later because the interiors of my Getz are unbearable at the moment. The same people who last year asked me whether my car was brand new will ask me whether my car is twenty years old now. That is how dirty the insides are.

Vipin
