First service update
Hello people
Like how every parent watches with anticipation as their child attains their milestones, I waited with anticipation for the first service of Princess. And the 15000 mark was attained a week back but due to some unforseen circumstances, I could give Princess for her first service only around 350kms (three days) after that mark was reached.
An appointment was made with EVM Motors for Tuesday at 9.30am. I could reach EVM only by 10.30 because luckily, I was able to give attendance and then skip class so that I myself could go give the car instead of sending my driver as planned originally.
My service advisor for the first service a Mr. Aravind. A courteous young chap who patiently checked out the entire car to see if there were any dings or scratches (none found). He also marked what all were present in the car while giving it for service and also checked the A/C vents to see if they were broken (seems like many Polos come with broken vents for the first service). He asked me what all troubles I was facing with the car and I told him what all had to be done. They were:
1. Gear shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st was notchy
2. Power window switch on the rear LHS door was not working
3. Removal of all tar spots on the car (which was almost the entire lower half of the car)
He asked me whether there were any other complaints and I said no.
I then asked him how much the first service would cost me and braced myself for the shock. He said Rs. 14,000. I was like
. He also said that I might not get it on the same day itself because it was a public holiday actually.
I then called up someone I knew who worked at the EVM service centre and he said it won't be that expensive and not to worry and that he'll try and give me the car back on the same day itself. I also handed over my car to him to keep a watchful eye over it while it was being serviced and went back home.
At 5:00pm, I get a call saying my car is ready and I rush over to the service station to get her back. When I reached EVM, she was all washed and shiny and waiting for me. She looked like she was only a day old and didn't look her actual age (which is 9 months btw). Checked her all over and found that she was spick and span. The interiors were cleaned and polished. Engine bay was nice and shiny.
My problems with the car were attended to. The power window switch not working was due to a loose coupler. The gear shift cable was adjusted making the notchiness less evident though it has not disappeared. The tar spots were all removed. All the parts changed were put in a cloth bag and kept in the boot. All in all, I was pleased with the work done.
Post service, the car feels smoother than before. No difference in performance or engine noise or the like. The third wheel alignment/balancing was done along with the service and it corrected the slight pull to the left that the car had.
Cost for the first service at 15,000 kms -
Rs. 11,939
Since it was lower than what they quoted, I was pleased
I will post pictures of Princess tomorrow when I get access to a laptop because I can't seem to upload pictures via my phone here.
