Are you sure? Because we had a Tata Indica Vista which we bought from Kulathunkal and exchanged for the Fiat. The service there was horrible. That was the reason for getting rid of it.

I only told you that Kulathungal Motors had good service facilities but didn't say they were good at serving car[:D]. Yes they are famous for their horrible service and negligence towards customers.

Lol OK. BTW, do you know any good paintshops in Trivandrum to do a very small touch up job? My driver scraped the corner of the rear bumper. Nothing serious. My usual guy has shut shop to do some renovation work.

Yes Saj motors next to Technopark main gate will do it for you. Very affordable and he won't insist on painting the whole bumper like Hotwheels or Colorwheels and charge 2k-3k for removing minor dents or scratches[frustration]

Oh ok. Are they the guys to whom Honda used to outsource their paint jobs until they got their own booth?

No no Saj Motors has a small shop and the shop you are referring to is Color Wheels in Enchakkal which used to do dealers paint jobs for Chevy, Honda, Renault and Nissan. They now do the paint jobs for Mercedes dealers in Trivandrum.

Does Colorwheels do waxing? I just checked out the scratch and it feels like dirt stuck on the paint which even rubbing compound will remove (no rubbing compound with me at the moment).

What kind of scratch have you found out in your Polo? Did it scratch the clear coat in your car?

Hey Sankar.

Interior cleaning and waxing too eh? That sounds interesting. I was thinking of taking my car to 3M Cochin but I will check this out. Where exactly is Color wheels located?

The scratch was actually not scratch but some dirt from a scooter tyre or so. It disappeared after I rubbed the area with rubbing compound. Happy that my car is scratch free *touchwood*

On another note. My car did 15,000 kms yesterday. Booked the car for service with EVM for tuesday. Let's see how the first service experience goes. Car has done 15.200 kms as of now (200 kms in one day).

EVM kollam showroom or Trivandrum showroom?[;)]

Its the same place were you painted your Getz's interiors and it's located in Enchakkal. It's betterwe both go to Cochin 3M or Pete's for both our car's waxing and interior cleaning. What's your opinion?

At EVM, Trivandrum. Will be giving the car tomorrow morning. Sending it with my driver. Will be taking the Punto to college.

We will go together to 3M Cochin sometime after the middle of September? Because by then, I will be comparatively free [:)]

First service update

Hello people

Like how every parent watches with anticipation as their child attains their milestones, I waited with anticipation for the first service of Princess. And the 15000 mark was attained a week back but due to some unforseen circumstances, I could give Princess for her first service only around 350kms (three days) after that mark was reached.
An appointment was made with EVM Motors for Tuesday at 9.30am. I could reach EVM only by 10.30 because luckily, I was able to give attendance and then skip class so that I myself could go give the car instead of sending my driver as planned originally.
My service advisor for the first service a Mr. Aravind. A courteous young chap who patiently checked out the entire car to see if there were any dings or scratches (none found). He also marked what all were present in the car while giving it for service and also checked the A/C vents to see if they were broken (seems like many Polos come with broken vents for the first service). He asked me what all troubles I was facing with the car and I told him what all had to be done. They were:
1. Gear shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st was notchy
2. Power window switch on the rear LHS door was not working
3. Removal of all tar spots on the car (which was almost the entire lower half of the car)
He asked me whether there were any other complaints and I said no.
I then asked him how much the first service would cost me and braced myself for the shock. He said Rs. 14,000. I was like [surprise]. He also said that I might not get it on the same day itself because it was a public holiday actually.
I then called up someone I knew who worked at the EVM service centre and he said it won't be that expensive and not to worry and that he'll try and give me the car back on the same day itself. I also handed over my car to him to keep a watchful eye over it while it was being serviced and went back home.

At 5:00pm, I get a call saying my car is ready and I rush over to the service station to get her back. When I reached EVM, she was all washed and shiny and waiting for me. She looked like she was only a day old and didn't look her actual age (which is 9 months btw). Checked her all over and found that she was spick and span. The interiors were cleaned and polished. Engine bay was nice and shiny.
My problems with the car were attended to. The power window switch not working was due to a loose coupler. The gear shift cable was adjusted making the notchiness less evident though it has not disappeared. The tar spots were all removed. All the parts changed were put in a cloth bag and kept in the boot. All in all, I was pleased with the work done.

Post service, the car feels smoother than before. No difference in performance or engine noise or the like. The third wheel alignment/balancing was done along with the service and it corrected the slight pull to the left that the car had.

Cost for the first service at 15,000 kms - Rs. 11,939
Since it was lower than what they quoted, I was pleased [clap]

I will post pictures of Princess tomorrow when I get access to a laptop because I can't seem to upload pictures via my phone here.

Regards,
Vipin
