Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

bro how much millage you are getting at present?
I tested mine with The full tank method and the result was awesome. it was 21.8. city driving with always AC on and I also keep vehicle in idle for AC as my city famous for HOT and DUST with WORST roads. total idle maybe about 30-45min in past 10days.

In my case its necessary to hold the clutch and accelerate to gain pickup in traffic, road humps and in ghat section as my family members are heavy except me(55kg) rest all are almost 80+kg [lol].

smokey smell made me to worry. I read about this issue on other forum and found that its common thing in engine break in period. am not sure.
smokey smell is something new to me bro. Better make it sure from the dealer in case you have not done it.

And 21.8 kmpl mileage!! Wow thats way too awesome! I get around 17-18 kmpl for the past 4100 kms i have done.

I haven't got them off, but when I mentioned the name of the forum, it automatically put ****** instead of the forum name, TAI has been configured that way and not to mention other forum names. probably!

When I inquired he just said that they have the entire package of DRL and projectors/demon eyes with HID's etc... I did not inquire specifically for the DRL's alone, but I think it must be do-able. I can share his contact number here. He is Mr.Srinivas Gopal 09849314812 with whom I spoke with yesterday. You can contact him and see if he only provides DRL setup with stock bulbs. If yes then please do update me as well as i am not that interested in projectors. But he mentioned that the projectors are of extremely good quality and the out put will not hamper oncoming traffic as well as improves the illumination by 200 to 250% compared to stock lighting!
Wow these are the pics I keep drooling very much often and hey I saw the link you have purchased from. Looks very good man! waiting to see its output!
Bro, but have a word with your service manager casually regarding the warranty.

Yes I did discuss regarding this setup with the service manager. He himself was quite excited looking at these pics and insisted me to go for these. In fact he went to the max extent and asked his contacts in Ford Chennai and asked whether the export model headlamps with DRL can be bought, and as expected they denied and said that the Headlamps with DRL's are only for EXPORT markets.. Why Ford? Hum ne kya chua mara hai jo humko DRL nahi do gey?[frustration]

Anyways, he said if there is no tampering of wires, then it will not void warranty. And let us not keep worrying about warranty if the setup is done by professionals, using best quality materials following best wiring practices.

I am yet to get the materials, will keep everyone posted on the progress.

Mileage update: My UB has been returning around 16 to 17 kmpl, mixed city and Highway. The mileage is increasing as I clock more kms. I am sure we will reach a comfortable figure of around 18 to 19 mixed after 2nd service.

Hey an Update on those DRLs and projectors, since its all socket to socket the DRLs have been wired to the parking light so one has to turn the parking lights on to use DRLs, I think its also wired to the turn lights. Not sure on the last one

Yup that's correct. We need to connect the DRL's to parking lights else if we connect them to ignition, then its done by tampering the wiring circuit which according to Ford will void the warranty.

On other hand, I am doing this all myself with the help of a electrical mod expert in my city. I have ordered for the DRL from aliexpress , projectors from a local store, and Philips HID kit 4300K. Altogether it will cost roughly around 24k MAX! I am yet to get the DRL's and I might receive them anytime now, once I get these I will get the installation done in max 2 days as it requires some time for the silicon sealant to dry up..

I am not going to change anything with the fog lights as the 4300HID plus my OEM fog lights will give me best results during all types of weather condition's.

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Hello all, got back on the 26th of October from a 7 day long road trip in my Ecosport. The route was Belgaum-Hyderabad-Ramoji Film City(Hyderabad)-Tirupati-Vellore-Kanchipuram-Bangalore-Belgaum. The Ecopsort clocked a total of around 2400kms in 7 days and it was a smooth and pleasant experience overall with the present odo reading at 7300Kms in a span of around 70 days of its purchase. No issues with the UB at all. It was sailing seamlessly throughout the tour and was really stunned with its long distance touring capabilities. Comparing to my old dzire, I used to have some lower spine ache when driven for around 300kms in a single stretch, but with the Ecosport, I tested it for 600kms in a single day and I come out of it as fresh as in the morning when I started the journey. The reason is the well sculpted seats and the driver height adjust. I agree that the under thigh support could have been more, but believe me, this is a machine to do long distances as well apart from the urban commutes.

The overall fuel economy I received is around 15 to 16 and at some instances I couldnt resist more and gunned it down. This is the first time I tested speeds north of 150kmph and it is indeed rock stable. Yes, again I feel pity on those guys who doubt the straight line ability of this little monster. An Innova owner just gave me the way when we both approached a long corner at around 130kmph. This is a mean machine when driven within its limits and we must not compare it with sedans cornering abilities.

This tour helped me boost confidence to plan even more long journeys and a 15 day tour to leh-ladakh in the month of January is in the making[clap]

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Hello guys, Here's an update on the DRL and HID"S installed in my Ecosport.

Sourced the DRL from HongKong on Aliexpress and got the Philips HID's 4200k H/L from snapdeal.

Got them installed from a local Mod Expert and man, believe me, it looks complete premium and the HID's put out more than enough light. Please see below some pics and have taken them from my phone cam, will take some quality pics tomorrow and post them again. The entire setup is socket to socket so no issues of electrical warranty to messup with [:)]
An here's the video link of the DRL's flashing..Enjoy![clap]

Well I do not have sound knowledge of the technical stuff but here's what I know:
Costs:
The HID's were 4200k High/Low from Philips with Ballasts, wiring harness in the Kit costed around 8797/- including shipping from snap deal.
The DRL's were sourced from Aliexpress9Hong Kong) for $55+$25 shipping. Comes to roughly around 4900/-

Now regarding installation: The HID's need no alterations and are direct fit. They just replace the OEM halogens. The ballasts are screwed in the engine compartment without obstructing any other components safely.

The DRL needed the headlights to split open. The front headlight lens is removed by heating and opening the locks, a bit crude process but there is no other way to insert the DRL strips. Post DRL installation the lens is fitted back by applying some glass/rubber based silicon gel with simultaneous heating and allowed to harden for at-least 8 hours. The entire process has to be carried out with extreme caution so the packing is done without any gap or holes to prevent water or moisture leakage.

The DRL are connected to the turn indicator circuit, hence to tampering of any wiring harness and the same applies to the HID's as well.

Also I have removed the tiny parking lights from the headlamps as well and now the DRL do the job.

Hope the entire procedure is explained enough in detail. If there are any more questions, pass it on and I will try to answer them[:)]

Hi Vjrodie

superb,

you did not use the projector?

how is the headlight focus without projector?

or the HID kit includes projector?

same DRL turns to yellow when you put indicators? and white during normal run?

HID has same bulb for HI and LOW?

you did not go for ANGEL EYE/DEVILS EYE? can it be included?

ARE YOU FULL SATISFIED?

Hi Vinod,

Thank you! And my name is not Vijay, but Venkatesh J, and people call me Vj as its short enough and easy than the original one.LOL. Sorry for the delay in responding to your query. I am much more than satisfied with the HID illumination and I can say these HID's are almost 3 times more brighter than my earlier Philips Extreme vision halogen bulbs.

I am still yet to get the labor costs as the mod expert is a good friend of mine and haven't met him till now post modifications [:)] Also FYI, I have shared the HID and DRL costs in my previous post.

Hi Vjrodie

superb,

Thank you!

you did not use the projector?

I had made my mind to ONLY install Philips 4200k HID's and this particular kit produces perfect color for all weather driving, be it rain or fog, its neither white nor yellow. And these HID's did not fit well into the projectors the dealer had and without the projectors we get good reflection from the stock reflectors.

how is the headlight focus without projector?
The headlight focus is wide enough and covers the road perfectly well.

or the HID kit includes projector?
No the HID kit does not include projectors.

same DRL turns to yellow when you put indicators? and white during normal run?

Yes the same DRL turn Orange while turning left or right and again back to white. They also Flash in orange while locking and unlocking the car along with the indicator bulbs.

HID has same bulb for HI and LOW?

Yes the same HID bulb has High and Low beam, same as the OEM halogens.

you did not go for ANGEL EYE/DEVILS EYE? can it be included?
Yes I did not opt for them as its to Bling-Bling for my taste. Yes Obviously you can install them if you want to.

ARE YOU FULL SATISFIED?
I am more than satisfied with the light output from these HID's and the DRL as per my observation are not too bright in a bright sunny day but look fantastic post 4pm.
