Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Its shame that you didn't make use of our forum, as we do have a dedicated thread for the same purpose, before going ahead installing those sunfilms on your new possession.
There's nothing to be ashamed about it @ ManojDungat, I have read each and every thread of my interest depending on my time availability. And I haven't ignored your earlier post, I just said what I have got from the dealer.
Oops !
By "its shame", what I meant was "its unfortunate".
I was only saying that, had you seen that thread earlier, you would probably have had a second thought. Please don't take me wrong.

PS: I got the sunfilm removed from my Scorpio a few months back. I wouldn't want to see anybody acting wild on my car, in the name of taking it off.

Have a joyful and exciting ownership experienc with your Urbano Bestia.[:)]

Hahaha, no worries buddy :) I appreciate your willingness to keep me informed and save me from any misshaps the cops do while on road due to sunfilms.

I have asked for explanation from the dealer. Lets see what he says tomorrow morning. I will surely get the money refunded if he fails to provide any valid transcript/copy of the motor vehicles rule 100. He still claims its legal to use sunfilms with 50% VLT.
Hope he is right, if not he has to refund me the amount back as you said.

Congratulations Vjrodie for the Ecosport. I am too thinking of getting one but the car has waiting period of upto 3 months at Metro Ford, Hubli. Only Titanium is available, no Titanium(O). Are there any niggles you have found..How is the ride quality over broken roads, is it as good as Figo. Trend and Ambient versions can be had within 15-20 days. There are around 12 ecosports here most of them are Trend. I am interested in Titanium Diesel Version for Highway runs as I already have Honda Brio for city commute. Also what average are you getting in medium/ heavy traffic ?.

Thank you Nishant! If you are in definite need of 6 airbags, you can opt to wait for Titanium(O) if not then you will get everything in Titanium. Leather seats can be installed outside as per your choice if you go with Titanium. Same was in my case, I had booked Titanium(O) but due to uncertainty on the availability, I went with Titanium and I am happy I did because I also got Grab handles with Titanium as they are missing in Titanium(O) and grab handles are a must for my parents. Second thing it does save you some good amount of money as well.

I can say one word, that Ecosport is a tough vehicle. At some places I find the build quality to be better than XUV5OO and much better than Duster. I cannot compare the ride quality of Figo as I haven't driven one, but I had a Swift Dzire earlier and the ride is much better in Ecosport. Small undulations and patch roads, Ecosport glides but it gets disturbed over very bad roads with large potholes, but once you master it, you will start enjoying and definitely you will be ahead on rough roads compared to hatches and sedans, people will keep admiring your Ecosport when you move ahead of them at a steady speed on rough roads :)
The average I got initially is around 14 to 15(mixed) and since last few days i am receiving 16 to 17. Once the initial run-in period is over, this must improve further as per the dealer. So far have clocked 3100kms in just 30 days of ownership. Will keep you all updated.

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Update: Guys had been to a shopping exibition and came across a Bosch stall. They demonstrated a high pressure water blower and sprays water with the help of air upto 100Kpa which is almost equivalent to the one found in our service stations. I found it very useful for cleaning my UB and two wheelers as its my routine Sunday task and i enjoy cleaning my rides myself. This machine cleans all the mud and dirt very very quickly and in less water thus conserving our natural resources[;)]
Mods: Sorry if this is off-topic but thought to share in this thread as I have solely purchased this machine for my UB :)

Hi vjroadie,
Are you a spirited driver, if so how do you find the Ecosport's handling in corners?
Regards,
Aneesh.

Yes you can call me a spirited driver but I am holding my nerves as the vehicle is still under initial run-in period. The handling is spot on for me, the steering is uber light at low speeds and weighs up decently to give enough feedback at high speeds. Nothing to complain about. The body roll is perfectly balanced as the suspension is a little bit stiff, but the ride is smooth and Ford has tweaked the suspension to get the perfect balance between ride and handling. They are almost there!

Nope, I haven't got any such burning smell in 2nd gear or whatsoever. I always drive with AC on all the time and the Auto AC does its job flawlessly, and never got any burning smell.

Does the smell come while the Recirculation mode is ON or while its OFF? If its coming while Off, there is probability that the burning smell could be from outside in some particular area you drive daily.
If its ON, then you will have to check the vehicle wiring if its continuously smelling.
Also if you are using any mobile chargers, check if it has any loose connections, as they are prone to burn in certain conditions. Check if you are using any other accessories..

Burning smell comes when the Recirculation mode is OFF, Yes am using Belkin Car USB Charger to charge my Note II, am sure its not a wiring smell, the smell is like a burnt diesel/oil, smell stays less than a minute and disappears.
I spoke to dealer about the issue, he said 4-5 ES owners complaining about this, this isn't a major issue. the car is new so burning smell will be there upto 3-4k KM then it will disappear permanently.
anyway am going for first service on Monday will talk again about this to service manager if still says the same thing then I will contact ford plant for confirmation for what he says.

Request you to do this and the let me know if you too get the burning smell.
turn on AC keep Recirculation mode is OFF and drive in second gear at a speed of 20-30 hold light clutch and accelerate you may get some smoky smell. usually it smells on road humps(not always only few times) and also at ghat section.

Sure I will try that. But let me advise you, please do not hold your clutch and accelerate to gain momentum or pickup. You will surely burn your clutch and hence the burning smell.
Just leave the clutch smoothly and the engine torque will move the vehicle ahead particularly in 2nd. Its always a bad practice to hold the clutch and accelerate to gain pickup. Hope that helps.
Still I will update you if I get burning smell as per your request.
