Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Thanks VJ for detailed reply.

did u do any MOD on tail side of your ES

lighting side ,I have installed ambiance light (two- front, passenger and driver side)

illuminated scuff plates

are you using the stock cabin lights?
Nope , haven't done any modification on the tail lamps, but trying to replace the stock tail lamp bulbs to LED one's. Let me know if you know any.

Even I have Ambient light and illuminated scuff plates installed and have replaced the front and back cabin bulbs to white led one's. They look more cool than the Stock yellow one's.

Hi Vj,

Excellent Mod - The HID+DRL combination looks cool![clap]

I am seriously thinking of doing the same on my car.
Have one question though![confused]
What is the temperature your reflector Housing?
I am concerned that this may go too hot & can even melt??[roll]
How long have you continuously used them and did you find any issues?
Appreciate your feedback on this as it helps me make my desicion!

Pl confim if these are the below items that you have used in your mod.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have used 4200K and not 6000k, as I have heard that 6000k emits blusih color which can cause some problem during fog and rain.

I dont think it will heat even as much as a regular Halogen bulb as I haven't seen anything alarming even after using them for long night drives. I do have one apprehension though about the High beam of the HID's, the low is super bright and literally glows the road ahead, but the High beam is not long enough. Not sure if its only my perspective and you may find it much better. Now I am thinking if I should have gone for the projectors too, but I didnt install them only because I didnt find a suitable projector lens for the Philips HID's.

The links you have posted are correct. Also regarding the DRL, they don't glow as that of an Audi's DRL during the day time, and only look great when the sun settles down.

Hope that helps! Best luck

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Thank you guys!
Well I do not have sound knowledge of the technical stuff but here's what I know:
Costs:
The HID's were 4200k High/Low from Philips with Ballasts, wiring harness in the Kit costed around 8797/- including shipping from snap deal.
The DRL's were sourced from Aliexpress9Hong Kong) for $55+$25 shipping. Comes to roughly around 4900/-

Now regarding installation: The HID's need no alterations and are direct fit. They just replace the OEM halogens. The ballasts are screwed in the engine compartment without obstructing any other components safely.

The DRL needed the headlights to split open. The front headlight lens is removed by heating and opening the locks, a bit crude process but there is no other way to insert the DRL strips. Post DRL installation the lens is fitted back by applying some glass/rubber based silicon gel with simultaneous heating and allowed to harden for at-least 8 hours. The entire process has to be carried out with extreme caution so the packing is done without any gap or holes to prevent water or moisture leakage.

The DRL are connected to the turn indicator circuit, hence to tampering of any wiring harness and the same applies to the HID's as well.

Also I have removed the tiny parking lights from the headlamps as well and now the DRL do the job.

Hope the entire procedure is explained enough in detail. If there are any more questions, pass it on and I will try to answer them[:)]

Awsum mod done by Vjroadie,

Just had a query that have u removed the orange side indicator bulbs from the main headlight as DRL do the indicator job by glowing Yellow on pressing the turn indicator ?

Or are they still there and glow simultaneously with the yellow DRL while giving the turn indicator ?

Nope. The turn indicator bulbs are still there and they glow with the DRL at the same time which gives it a OEM look while the turn indicator is being engaged.

Btw, these DRL's arent bright enough to sparkle during a hot sunny day! That is why I am planning to go for the ones whcih have DRL in the fog lights.. Like these.

Hey VJ,

The DRL as well as the HID's look good and must be giving superb results.

One question. As you have used HID's without projectors, they must be causing discomfort to the oncoming traffic. Have you noticed such scenario while driving with HID's on?

To be honest, I havent got any real feedback from the on-coming traffic. But when you look at the headlamps ON, it does strain the eyes a bit in high beam, So I always keep it in low beam when driving in city, as the low beam is sufficient for city use.

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Its been a long time I have updated anything in my UB ownership thread. Here's an update on the 10,000kms milestone achieved on 15th of December 2013 and that too with 4 months of purchase :)

The Engine oil was changed, wheels aligned, some rattles from rear door fixed, interior cleaned, all mechanical's checked, brake's cleaned, and other fluids topped up.

The engine has become super smooth after the oil change and the pick-up has improved significantly especially when the A/c is turned on. Post second service the mileage has gone up from 14 to 16 in city and around 18-19kmpl on highway!

Overall the UB is serving us exceptionally well, especially when we tale it to our farm where only a car with 200mm GC can tackle.

I had another question in my mind which I am going to clarify with my dealer, Ford recommends synthetic engine oil as per the sticker on the engine oil cap, but the dealer has filled it with ordinary Castrol oil. Have anyone of you Ecosport owners have finished their second service? and if yes which engine oil have you got from your dealer?

Re: The ‘Urbano Bestia’. My Ford Ecosport 1.5 TDCI Titanium!

Hello Guys,

I have been getting this weird warning message after I start the car say after about 12 to 14 hours. It says '' Engine oil pressure low. Stop safely'' I did consult the Ford Service Advisor and he says this may be due to the engine being idle for 12 to 14 hours or for a long time and hence the oil level is at the bottom most part of the engine and hnce the message is being displayed.

Once I start the car in the morning this message appears and later when I turn off and turn on again the warning doesn't come and the same happens throughout the rest of the day, and the warning comes up again when I start the car the next morning after around 12 to 14 hours.

I am worried about this and not able to come to any conclusion. I have clocked 13000kms so far and request you all Ecosport owners if anyone of you has got this warning issue.

Please see the below image of the warning. Sorry for the blurred image but the warning message comes and disappears in a fraction of a second.

With my figo and now with my ecosport too i never encountered this error, and i used to take the car during weekends, as per your dealer service person advice if this error should come after every 14 or 15 hours, then why am not getting this error even after 4 to 5 days in idle stopped or untouched state.

May be dealer person is careless, so report this issue to ford by mail takl to ford helpdesk and ask your dealer service manager to fix it ASAP

HI VJ, congratulations on the tastefully and much needed mod. I was able to get a good deal on 6000k Phillips HIDs from a closeout store hence went ahead with it - i can confirm that that light isnt blue, infact it exactly matches with the 6500K white on the DRL... however it does not have the brightness of 4200K that you are enjoying

Would you be able to share a pic of the back cover of the headlight, i wish to see how the DRLs are inserted into the headlight?

Hi Rajiv0909, Sure I will post a pic tomorrow after taking the snap in day light. But believe me, the installation procedure was very crude as per my belief. The local mod expert parted the headlight lens and the back cover by heating etc and then glued back with some rubber silicon stuff. I knew once they do this my headlights will get ripped off, but still I wanted to have those DRL's installed for the cool look :) and also the mod expert had done similar installations before so he was confident enough that nothing would go wrong. I have washed the car several times but not even once water has seeped in the headlights!

Yes I have 4200K Philips HID's installed and the out put is satisfying enough! However I am now thinking that I should have also gone with projectors so that the high beam had still better projection. I had decided to install the projectors as well, but the Philips bulbs didn't fit in those Chinese projectors[frustration]

Nope, I did have a look at these few days back, but found them too bling-bling for my taste. I would recommend you to go for single projector lamps with the DRL stripe if you wish to like these: Buy MODIFIED FORD ECOSPORT HEADLIGHTS (ORIGINAL AUDI DRL TUBE), ring projector lamp online - Buy car accessories online india, autogully.in

This guy has reduced price to 21k as he was asking around 27k when checked last week. Looks worth going for these!

Check the dipstick oil level, low level could trigger the error code.
My ES clocked 8.5K in 7month not seen any kind error message codes, but am getting some rattling sound from windshield on bouncy roads and whistling sound from AC vent at a speed of 100-170KMPH, does anyone notice this sound? its like soieee .... :)
the sound disappears when I turn on recirculate mode.

I hope you might have Google the error message, and I found bellow link..
My oil pressure warning light is on. What should... — Yahoo! Autos

write your query about synthetic oil and error code on display to custmail@ford.com (mention your EcoSport Chassis No in mail)you will get a call from Chennai ford plant and the problem will be solved by them.
drop an update when it get resolved.
