Nope, It wasn't ON, that's why I found it to be weird. Anyways it hasnt returned, so I guess some one time glitch. Another thing happened yesterday though, wasnt getting the volume for a media playing thru my phone on the car.... tried increasing/decreasing volume, pausing n playing again. Nothing worked. Gotta check if it repeats or its fixed.

I drove around 160 km till now in city. I inquired with TATA SA he told, check full tank to full tank then come if any issues... But I am wondering about the mileage being Diesel I have not expected like this. This weekend plans for short trip around 250 km. Then let you know actual figures .... Your current FE might be displaying based on how it was driven when it was still with dealer / TML. So once you reset, it will show FE based on your driving style which I'm sure would be better.

Ive faced similar situation. seen 11 sometimes.
But that is when you ride only for a few KMS and turn off engine.
when you go for a long ride, reset the trip meter, I'm sure on highways you are going to get above 20.
City, for short drives, better dont look at FE meter

when you reset the trip meter, the FE also is reset.
Means, after you reset, the FE figures it shows is only applicable for the KMS shown in the trip meter. (A,B)

I am a proud owner of a Blue XMS QJT since 27th September. Done 2700 km with an average of 17.3 (around 1100 km was highway driving, rest is city), havent faced any issues with the car except a small reduction in pickup.
As the first service is looming, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to ask for in service, as it appears to be only a checkup with no part changes. Have been trying to understand the Bud in engine compartment issue, but could not relate to it in my car. Should I be asking for a fix? Any advice is welcome.

Tank-Tank Mileage I got from Revotron XT:
Total 596 kms (380-Higway, 216-City)
City: 30%ECO+70%CITY modes
HIGHWAY: 95% ECO+5%(CITY+SPORT) modes
Initial 45L + later 10.10L, total 55.10L was fueled
Did a full tank today which took 32.83L. So, a total of 32.83+10.10=42.93 was consumed for 596kms= 596/42.93=13.88kmpl is the avg i am getting :)
It was showing 13.9kmpl avg FE on the console as well :)

KM run seems a bit on the higher side. it is justified if the yard is very far from the dealer. Better check with them why is it high? normally its less that 100

Yes, I too feel the drop in pickup if I change from 3rd to 4th gear as suggested by MUD, so shift at 40-45. Noticeable in QJT due to the torquy nature of the engine.
