Hi Harish,

Couple of questions. I have taken delivery of my RED RT XT and have not driven at all after taking delivery on 25th Dec. I have observed few things as i start the engine everyday and keep it on for 10 mins.

1. The engine rpm raises to 1200 and then settles down to 650- 750.
2. There is slight jerk/jump/movement which can be felt in car and in steering also while the car is idiling.

other than the above i could not find any issue as of now. Could you please let me know if these are normal with Revotron or do i need to visit the service center and get it clarified. Thanks in advance.

Yes, i can feel the jerk while idling when AC is on. This is due to AC compressor running.

Guys,
During my recent long drives I confirmed one thing that mileage drops on long journeys even on highways.
Only initial few kms in highways is returning good mileage.
I tested this on my way back to Bangalore from Kerala. I've driven around 300 kms without break.
Was very light on pedal and kept below 90 kmph.
Full highway drive with no traffic. I got just above 16.
To confirm, I reseted the trip meter when I reached nice road towards the end of my journey.
I got just 17 kmpl for the 30 kms on nice road.
I used to get above 24 on the same road when I start from Bangalore.

Has anyone else noticed this?
Or is my no-break driving causing issue?

we have driven cars for 400kms without even a tea break. is your car overheating? it shouldn't be happening.
do check the FE with tank method once and let us know

that is a very low FE. For me, the usual FE on highway is 20+. hope you are not keeping your clutch pressed, even a small press would reduce the FE. On highway, i always remove my left leg from clutch

Its not overheating.
I'm checking tank to tank also.
It shows even less- 15.8

Bro, I keep leg on clutch only to change gear even in city drive.
And for that last 30 kms on nice road, I didn't even have to touch break either.
Still it was 17.

how many kms on your odo?
I guess your car simply needs running in.
my blue boy i10 used to avg 13 to 15 only. after some long trips, it shot up to 18 to 23!

It is 6500+ kms. That should be enough for running in I guess.
From day one I'm tracking all fill-up and calculating fe on tank to tank full method.
Never it gave above 18 even on highway drives.

Hello Harish,

I feel being a new engine, lets keep a check till first 10K Kms. I'll have a word on this with my friend in TML and revert with actual reason by tomorrow.

Its not something you should worry much!

Regards and Happy New Year.

you maybe surprised but most of my vehicles took 25k kms for run in.
my xuv had clipping problem at speed breakers which solved after 25k kms. fe is still about 13 which is less than what most people get.

my blue boy increased pickup and FE after 25k. now fe is always above 20kmpl on highway. it was so dull to drive before, now I can see a full character transformation.
more details on my respective ownership threads.

Hi Harish, Spoke to my friend yesterday night. The issue you are facing is nothing to worry about. The FE shall improve after the vehicle has run 10K+ km. Having a FE of 18-20 in initial 5 to 6K km is nothing bad at all according to him.

Hello Aakaash,
My total fe for 6k kms is not 18 its around 13.
18 is max I got on highway trips.

My issue is that FE is not consistent throughout the long drive even if other parameters remain same.

Don't Fret man, These are normal values. The FE differs Greatly depending on Roads,Traffic, Driving etc. Just check back at 15k Kms for real FE.

I own a Honda City IVtec since last 3 years. The max FE that I got was 14.7 on highways and till now in city roads the car has not given me beyond 12.5km/l

Total ODO as on date is 37K+. So I am fine with it as there are number of reasons as listed by BHVM. Moreover, my driver drives it so his way of driving and mine are really different.
