Tata Zest Quadrajet XT (Buzz Blue): Ownership Review

I think if the system was capable of playing videos ,tata would have shown this as a key feature of the car and moreover ability to play videos needs much higher processing capabilities so the possibility is less keeping in mind the segment the car belongs to.

This is to avoid driver distraction. I consider this as a safety feature.
If at all video is supported, then is should play only when engine is off.

tata can not give video player in infotainment system, because its illegal.

This is the same reason that is being given to me for Ciaz ZD+ version (Diesel Top Model) which has not been launched and whose initial wait period was 5 months.

My SA has informed me that Maruti is facing problems with govt and that Infotainment might get scrapped as it contains navigation option and govt is not giving permission as it distracts the driver.

Not video, but Tata had shown HK touchscreen infotainment system as display for navigation by connecting to Android phone.

So, I think it should be capable of displaying video. It may be matter of some software upgrade or so though I am not aware of any.

I think through your phone, you can use the Navigation (as told to me by SA, although he was not sure about the settings).

Earlier Vista D90/ Manza club class used to come with touch screen ICE capable of laying videos at standstill and in-built GPS.
About Ciaz, that touch screen ICE is facing some problem and will get launched only by Jan 2015.

Maruti Suzuki will commence deliveries of the range topping Z+ petrol and diesel variants of the newly launched Ciaz sedan most likely by January 2015. The delay has been resulted due to some issue with the Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system that is exclusively available on the top-end model. With the ZXi+ and ZDi+ models put on indefinite hold, the temporary top-end model will be the Z (O) trim that sports most of the features from the Z+ variants, excluding the questionable Smartplay system. We got in touch with a few dealers who confirmed they aren’t receiving Z+ variants of the Ciaz.

i suspect many reading this thread may be deciding to wait for a little more trouble free Zest-atleast till the mud/water getting into the engine bay is sorted
This is the last thing TML need-two months seems a long time to get a fix for something that could spoil a very very hard earned reputation!

Tata have to recall all the vehicle sold to correct this issue. if u can wait then it is better to collect ur vehicle after 2 month when your new car will not have this issue.

This issue can be fixed in first service.
I think Tata will have first service time as their deadline. I don't think they have to recall the vehicles to correct this.

its not a manufacturing defect but serius design issue, i dont think it is very easy to fix. Thats why tata is taking two month time to find out solution.

Our TAI team in cbe ,TD all variants
Best car in its class
Outstanding quality,
Minor mistakes like gear vibration
Rear humped look
Engine dust ..etc
But when we TD automatic car
The car resisted to make first gear after if we reverse the car,
Every time I needed to switch off ignition and make to driving mode, many severe bugs are there but all are firmware bugs ,.
Enjoy the ride ,keep in touch with forum with many updates

Glad to see everyone is enjoying the zest. Hope this happiness continues for a long long time. One question though how is the ac performing I mean how much time it takes to cool down the entire cabin space.

In Zest its Single horn.

Double horn is something which makes two sounds of different frequencies one after the other.
I had put this in my bike when I was in college
