Spotted your 3.0 last Friday opposite DLF Garden City going towards Bhopal. Must say it looks better in the flesh than in the pictures.

My friend's Safari never goes in limp mode, despite the onset of Check Engine light. Guess the Urban Legend is right - no two Safaris are same :lol!:!!

Completed a 2,000 Kms trip by Safari. Got stuck and almost toppled the car on a kuchha road, learnt a lesson to never drive on extreme side of roads. Some Pics.

Looks much better with the cladding and ORVMs. Please paint the ORVMs in body colour.

How did you manage to beach it like that[surprise]?

re: Tata Safari 3.0 Dicor: Burnt, Recovered and Reclaiming @1,55,000 Kms

I was driving on the extreme side of the road, rest of the road was occupied with sharp pebbles. At one point the sand was so loose that it could'nt hold the weight of the SUV, I was at 20 kmph the front left tyre slided downwards with the loose soil. Till the time I reacted and pressed brakes, both the tyres were on one side of the loose soil, right tyres were lifted upwards. Two villagers came to rescue and pulled the car backwards by tractor.

What happened to the tractor :lol!:?

Tell me, how much dust does it allow inside the cabin even when the windows are rolled up and the airconditioner is switched on?

It was till then I realized the power of tractor. It pulled the car easily, like just another job at the field. The villagers earned a huge respect, hardly the urbanians help people, but these villagers are always ready for help.

Hardly any dust. But, yes even on recirculation mode, there is outside air coming inside very little.

Re: Tata Safari 3.0L Dicor: Ownership Report

I recently purchased a 3.0 Litre Tata Safari Dicor 2007 model. There is no smoke no problem in engine.

1)The only problem is there is a lot of sound coming from engine, took it to TASS centre and they told me that the sound is due to CAM gear and it need to be replaced. Don't know how a worn in cam gear can make engine sound increase that much.

2) The clutch is very hard but there is no slippage, problem in gear change

Please let me know if someone has faced the same problem and how it was resolved?

Re: Tata Safari 3.0L Dicor: Ownership Report

@samdinkar: Right now, tidy schedule could'nt give much time to car. hence, the vehicle remains as it is. Infact, I hardly get the work done between services. Only major works are done between services. Rest, don't fix it if it ain't broke.

1) This is what happens when you pick a engine from a truck and plonk it into a car. The nature of 3.0L is noisy and unrefined. You have to bear with it.

2) Clutch becomes hard for a range of issues, in your case there is no clutch slippage so it must be a pressure plate issue. You will have to change the entire clutch assembly or bear with it. In my case the clutch lasted well above 1.4L Kms. Other causes of clutch hardness are worn clutch plate, faulty master/slave cylinder.

Well, the 3.0 block is noisy no doubt but still if you find that the sound made by your 3.0 is not normal then I'd suggest you to compare it with the sound made by another 3.0 (maybe you could find one at the Tata service centre) before going for a cam gear job.

As for the clutch, please do what mercedised has suggested above.

Mods : I am not using this thread for promoting or doing anything for financial benefit. As a automobile enthusiast I am trying to sell my vehicle to another automobile enthusiast.
