Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Guys, after a fiasco with Ford over their 1.0 Ecosport, i'm now in the market for a petrol Duster. I would prefer the 1.2TCe engine, if it ever gets launched here, else the 1.6 NA motor that's currently available.
The Renault/Nissan dealers in Gurgaon do not have petrol Duster/Terrano available for test drives nor will they get those. Thus, would appreciate your experiences/knowledge on the performance of the petrol Duster. Am not really keen on mileage but more concerned about the adequacy of power for the large vehicle.

Cheers!
Here you go Sir:

I have been offered RXL 110 Plus variant at a cash discount of 60000 and if I convince for insurance than I'll be getting it at around 1230000 on road. What you say guys, shoot out?.I was looking forward to Nissan terrano 85 XL Plus which comes around 1294000 on road but does it make sense to shell out more for what I have been offered in duster XL plus variant with more powerful engine, please comment guys!

if you are ok with the fact that the Duster's facelift is scheduled to be out sometime in this year, i would suggest you pick the Duster ahead of the Terrano.
although the Terrano looks better than the Duster (face wise), the A$$ should be better at Renault.

@Superbad As far as facelift is concerned it won't appear this year,Renault will be launching only 4WD and automatic variant will be introduced meanwhile.Have spoken to different dealers of different cities, they are sure regarding this.

If you are convinced about the news, i would suggest to pick the Renault Duster since you are now getting discounts and for the fact that the service network is better (reachwise) than it's Nissan sibling.

@babsmatter From your profile it seems you are from Pune and I think in city like Pune there wont be isue with either Renault or Nissan's service network.

There won't be a problem regarding service point of view but the point is it worth to shell out the extra money just for looks coz on the features department it's all square between Terrano XL PLUS and Duster RXL Plus. The thing is duster in consideration has more bhp 110 and less price compared to terrano, hope you guys keep this in consideration .

If you are ok with the looks of duster relatively compared to the terrano , go for the duster .

The duster might get a you a better resale value too for the perceived image it has in the market compared to terrano .

Plus a higher capacity engine . The 110ps engine will help you on the highways too if you will driving a lot there .

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Nice car and Nice review. I'm a bit late to read it though!
What I found is-
>TAI reviews are superbly detailed and list little perks very well!
>Reversed Headlight and wiper stalks are NO NO NO. People juggling cars (Eg. me) are bound to mess up
>Not very top notch in plastic fitting quality and Convinience features
> MID is Basic. hell, all the dashboard is basic. I expected touchscreen and Auto AC
> OVERPRICED for the Quality offered. i'd happily suggest putting a LAC or Two and go for XUV500
> BHP per TON is among the best in Indian market and 6 Speed version would be utter pleasure to drive.

My friend's Duster [110ps RXZ (O)] has completed 38000 kms in ONE year. Yes, in ONE year. No problems at all (and he doesnt exactly treat the vehicle with kid's gloves). Fit as a fiddle. Done Ladakh and back. Returns 18-19 kmpl on the highway at 100kmph and around 15 kmpl in city. Renault Duster is a Nice car to drive. I love the interiors and the pick up of the vehicle. But even I agree that Nissan Terrano looks better than Duster. If anyone who is willing buy an SUV. Go for a Terrano instead of Duster. As such most of the features are same but Terrano will give you more performance and also you ll feel proud to own it .

Can you please explain how does the terrano gives more performance when essentially it has the same engine as the duster??

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

I know i'm probably the odd one out here but i prefer the Duster's styling and looks over Terrano. Somehow the straightforward and no nonsense design of the duster projects it as a true blue SUV as opposed to Terrano which seems a little more fashionable and thus 'softer'.
