Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

That sure is a sweet deal you've got there. So with 70k off the OTR price, it brings somewhat closer to the price at which it was launched in India. Surely a good time to buy a Duster I would say. So tell me, does the new Touch screen head unit comes stock with 85PS (O) variant? Any other accessories you planning to include in the deal?

Yep the 85 PS (O) comes with touchscreen HU with navigation but I haven't done extensive test on the sound quality etc. The dealer said he will give mudflaps and floor mats.

I have planned the following accessories:
1) Front guard & Rear guard - Needed atleast in Chennai as other road users drive like crazy here. The front looks may be affected a bit but in Chennai it is worth it.
2) Side step
3) Extra Hella horn - :)
4) Seat covers
5) Steering wheel covers
6) Reverse camera with IRVM display
7) Car cover
8) Full PVC floor matting.

Planned accessories in near future:
1) CR 70 Sun films windshield and all other windows
2) Underbody coating
3) Hella Aux lamps - Don't like tinkering with stock headlight setup
4) A two ton hydraulic jack
5) Few NFC tags so that my phone can switch ON or OFF the bluetooth in the car when I bring it close to the NFC tags.
6) Car DVR

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Got the VIN number today and it is a August 13 manufactured car. I think this should be OK as it is just 2 months old. Going to do the PDI either today evening or tomorrow morning. Registration on Monday and should have the car after accessories fitment etc by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.

Going to bid farewell for my beloved Spark tomorrow, I wish if I could keep her.

Have been following this forum since a long time now, but this post made me register!

We are in the exact position. Exact! I too had booked an Ecosport but the long waiting period put me off. I went on to book the 85 RXL (O) White![:D] this Wednesday, and will be taking the delivery next Friday!

I got the VIN yesterday and mine a a July 2013 manufactured model. I am a bit doubtful over this fact but the dealer says that the car reached them just 25 days back and i can see the tax invoice for this as well.

Anyways, since you're in Chennai and getting an August model, my doubts over the car have eased a bit since I'm in new Delhi, so a July made car should be acceptable. Still, will do a thorough PDI for my satisfaction! Hope everything goes well.

Congratulations for you new ride!

P.S. How did you decode your VIN ?

Congratulations to you as well. [;)] You have to use the Nissan's VIN number decoding for month and year here for Renault.

What all are the accessories that you have planned to install on your new ride? Details of mine are already posted.

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Completed the PDI today evening and the car was in good condition. The PDI checklist was very useful for checking my car and my SA was quite impressed with the way me and my Dad were checking the car. Thanks TAI. The car had 51 km on ODO and the SA arranged the car to be brought to the showroom from the yard. My SA at Renault OMR is quite nice and very cooperative. The car would be registered on Monday and I should get it on Tuesday evening and I am quite eagerly waiting to lay my hands on the Duster. :)

My car has got Apollo Hawkz H/L and how are these tyres? My car Spark came with Apollo Acelere and I was quite happy with those tyres. Can anybody let me know how Apollo Hawkz H/L tyres are? I am a sedate driver and don't exceed 100km/h, I just drive between 80-90 km/h on highways. I have seen most of the Dusters coming with MRF Wanderer Sport tyres and heard they are OK kind of tyre and just do their job without any issues.

Thank you so much 350Z, the PDI guide will surely help in an exhaustive PDI of the car! And will post the initial impressions as soon as I get the car! [:D]

Hi Neelkanth,

As far as accessories are concerned, I'm thinking of getting the front and rear skid plates, reverse parking camera, Chrome kit and the driver armrest.

My dad was initially keen on the front and rear bull bar but later dropped the idea because of safety issues.

I am yet to do a detailed PDI, so looking forward to that. Maybe sometime early next week! [:)]

Sweet. [:)]

Keep me posted about your Dusty. Where are you planning to fix the driver armrest? Have you ordered any Driver armrest from the Ebay or someother site? Are the front and rear skid plates available as accessory? I could not find those in my dealers accessory sheet.

I have been searching a lot about the accessories for Duster and found a couple of armrests that fit in perfectly. One is the universal armrest that can be found easily on ebay, whereas in another forum, a guy has fitted Tata Safari's armrest in his Duster, and it looks quite clean and less chunky than the one found on ebay.

About the skid plates, they aren't mentioned in the official accessories list provided by my dealer, but I remember once I asked my SA about them and he said that they cost 6-7K (front and rear both). Will confirm it once I go for the PDI on Tuesday! [:)]

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Thanks man. [:)] I am going to get delivery on 28th October if all goes well with SBI loan processing. I have chosen White colour and they have ready stock of the car.

I got 60k in exchange bonus and 10k cash discount. After these discounts the OTR came to 12.68L for 85 PS RXL(O) in Chennai [cry]
@Neelkanth, did you get any free accessories? I am planning to book 85 PS RXL today or tomorrow.

Re: Renault Duster Road Test Drive Review

Went for the PDI today! Here are a couple of pics! I visited the stockyard to see the vehicle but it wasn't washed by then. Anyways, i got to see it for the first time so didn't mind!

Inspected the car and looked clean. 22Kms on the ODO.

A few things I wanna ask: I saw the HR sticker on the car as you can see in the pics. The SA says that every car gets this once it comes here. Is that the case?

Also, when I was checking the indicators, the guy at the stockyard told me that they haven't put-in the fuses yet as sometimes, the ignition remains on, draining the battery. So, they will put-in the fuses once they ready the car. Same for the antenna. Some inputs on this?

The car looked clean. Seats had plastics covers with date of manufacturing as 10 August 2013. Glove box had the manuals and stuff. Toolbox was in place. Carpets looked clean with li'l dust, which must've been caused when the guy took the vehicle out of the stockyard. Engine compartment looked clean!

The Duster in white looks gorgeous. Not sure about the fuse removal thing. My car had been complete washed when I checked it in the showroom. As you said even my car had seat plastic covers intact and engine bay was clean. They didn't wash/clean the engine bay but it was quite clean. My car was fully functional and it had 51km on ODO. Not sure about the HR temp certificate.

Which tyres are you getting are they MRF Wanderer or Apollo Hawkz H/L?
