Hi ,

Planning to buy a suv

Confused Between Scorpio S10 or Xuv w6

Please help me out .
Hello Monty,

if you want a proper SUV, go for the Scorpio with 4X4. XUV is a soft roader with really good driving dynamics, almost like a sedan. Plus I like the looks of the new Scorpio more than the looks of the new XUV.

I am nto really sure of the feature list of the Scorpio.

But if you want something for brand value and good driving dynamics go for XUV.

let me know if you have any specific questions regarding XUV.

Hii... read about your water leakage issue. Is it resolved? How was it resolved? Actually i have a bit of similar issue but from the stop lamp at the rear. when washing the car and the water flow directly at the stop lamp water leaks into the cabin through the gap between the rear glass and the plastic cladding. I am pretty sure that can be fixed in the first servicing.

Hi Dheeraj,

I have overlooked the issue for now as monsoon has receded completely from Pune.

If you know where the leak is you can either use fevi bond to fill it up and forget about it or take it to svc for a more permanent solution.

thanks for sharing the details. please remove name and number from image.

the part charges appear reasonable but labour is very expensive. What the heck 40k km charges 3k?
they've already charged separately for balancing etc. that much is just for oil change??

and why there are 2 ac filters in xuv?

@Monty44445: Why not Mahindra Thar? super 4x4 for off road.

If may I suggest, you should create a separate thread for the same instead of hijacking Optimus thread [:)]

Apologies for the late updates.

There is nothing to update, no rides, no issues.

However, I do want some suggestions on the following:

1. 4th and 5th year extended Warranty: is it worth @30k?
2. should I go for a zero dep cover for the 4th year. tata aig provides a zero dep cover for the 4th year as well but that is costing an addition 8.7k bringing the premium close to 28000rs. My lasst year premium was 24k where the zero dep cover was 3.5k.

Need to decide before Feb 1st week. please help.

I think you should go for both extended warranty and zero dep for 4th and 5th years. just for peace of mind.

sir I'm not adept much in Insurance field. I'll better let experts take over.

however in today's cars, where majority of stuff is plastic, glass, rubber and electronics- anything below zero dep does not make sense at all.

for a very old vehicle, I straight away go for 3rd party Insurance ,skipping anything in between.

Hey Kinshuk, Mahindra has smartly played on the extended warranty card on XUV by keeping it high is my view. I thought it was some 24k or something - have they increased price ?

My take is there are a couple of items in the XUV which will have a bigger impact than others considering a 30k warranty related spend that could as well go in repairs/maintenance.

No.1 is clutch going kaput, No.2 in my books is the parking Lamp LED. While the function of the LED itself is not that great, the issue is if the LED goes kaput (which it has in my case) the entire assembly needs replacement which costs i think over 14k or so(not sure)per piece. This is not a big deal for me and we can anyways have a drl procured and fitted which is money much wiser spent. My take on clutch is owners have to super careful in any mahindra clutch and use it diligently and with extra care.

Take a stock of your XUV and what could the possible items vs extended warranty cost and then make a call. I have sailed through 1.3 years post the warranty period and have not taken extended warranty - so far only had to spend on minor items like the windshield motor going kaput, in my case i dont expect the maintenance or replacement cost going over 30k(or even half of it) , so i didnt take it.

The other factor as bhvm said is the peace of mind factor, yes extended warranty does give you that !
