Thanks man. Found the same in the owners manual yesterday night. No idea how it shorted. Found out when I had to test an air pump.

So I managed to reach the instrument panel's fuse box, it is inside the panel beneath the steering wheel. To open the panel you will need a cross screw driver to remove 3 screws and a flat screw driverr to pry open the panel, after you remove the panel you will be able to see the fuse box.

The culprit in my case was the power socket fuses which were blown away may be because of the air pump which I tested earlier, because I havent used the mid and 3rd row sockets any time.

Here are some pics of the same.

Got the 50000km service done yesterday. Total service cost was 5657. they have changed the front washer motor under warranty as it had stopped working. apart from that they also asked me to change the brake pads which I denied because there is still around 4000-5000km of life left in them, they also asked me to get the rear upper link bar replace as there is a micro crack in one of the bushes. That also I have denied as according to the RM the link bars can survive for another 10,000kms. they also said there was some leakage of engine oil from the place it is filled and have repaired it by using some sealant.

The charges are following:

1. Sealant: 148
2. AC filter 2 in number: 1040
3. ENgine oil top up 1 liter: 295
4. Wheel bolt grease: 297
5. brake cleaner: 500
6. battery water: 22
7. cotton: 66
8/. consumables: 88
9. wheel alignment: 550 (as I had asked for tyre rotation.
10. service labour for 50000km: 2062

around 600 rs of taxes.

Optimus is suffering from a fuse brake light on the right hand side. hopefully it is just a fuse bulb.

Planning to do the repairs myself, want to confirm with someone who knows how to open the rear light.

after discussing with BHVM we have come to the conclusion that we need to open the 3 bolts at the side of the tail light. is there anything else that I need to open? like any tabs or clips and does the black cladding above the tail light alose needs to be opened?

Hello All,

I was finally able to replace the brake light bulb in the Optimus,

It is in no way an emergency repair.

To replace the brake light bulb you will need:

1. A Philips screw driver
2. Number 10 spanner,
3. LUCK

first of all open the 3 philips screws on the black cladding above the tail light, now apply your luck and muscle to take out the balc cladding, it is being held in place with the help of 4 more clips which you will have to pry open, chances are you will break at least one clip while removing.

after removing the black cladding you will see another philips screw holding the tail light in place, remove that and the 3 bolts the tail light should come out easliy now.

once the tail light is removed follow the instructions in the owners manual to replace the bulb and the above process in reverse to put the whole thing back together.

A word of Caution>

This is not an emergency repair.

Kinshuk

Optimus will be leaving for a 4000km journy next weekend.
Need pointers for the stuff to carry for the vehicle.

I already have the following things,
1. Towing rope
2. Spanner set, both ring and open ended.
3. Emergency Fuses, already there in the Fuse boxes.
4. Air pump
5. Car seat for the baby.
6. All electricals working checked.

Let me know what else can be needed.

Regards,
Kinshuk

Some that I would suggest carrying-

Puncture repair Kit (would be great as you're carrying air pump)
bits of copper wire
Nylon rope for securing luggage or errands
Plastic sheet (Tarapaulin) (I do not remember if you have a roof rack or not)
Swiss knife, Lighter, Mosquito fast card, Hand sanitizer.
large water bottle for spray washer & errands.

Check condition & air of spare tyre before leaving.
happy journey!.

Completed the first leg of my journey. Covered 1200kms in 22 hours, route taken pune -- mumbai -- vadodra -- ahemdabad -- udaipur -- kota.

Got an average of 17.6 kmpl with around 1/4th distance AC.

Noticed quite some vertical movement in the vehicle while going over uneven roads at speeds of 80-90kmph. is it normal? this is the first time I noticed it.

yes, xuv does have kickback if there isn't enough weight in the back.
Thanks man, but in my case that was not the issue, the vehicle was fully loaded.

In another question I am thinking of replacing the stock speakers with the Focal Integration series, without amplifier its costing around 25k for 4 speakers, wiring and dampening material. is it worth the money?

Yes they would be good.
However, My Custom underseat mod costs 10k Amp+5~6k Subs. You'll find it better sounding for money worth of 16k.

About the suspension, XUV has a slightly stiff ride for controlled body roll. It does thud and crash on Photholes/Large speedbreakers etc. Also, do check the air pressures once. Butter-smooth roads are all the Cheetah wants.
