I have that yellow strip on all my vehicles so can't say. I don't think it's as strict now. try electrician's yellow tape as temporary measure.

Hello guys,

Faced a small problem yesterday. The cabin inside began to leak water after the vehicle was parked in the rains.

The leakage was coming from the Spectacle holder on the ceiling.

Has anybody else faced anything like that? Any ideas on how to find the leaking point?

regards,
Kinshuk

Hey Guys, anyone who is using a Dashboard Camera in their vehicle?
Can you tell me the details?
Yes kaushik, I use a dashcam. Extremely useful. Picked it up in Bangkok for about 7000 Rs. Records HD on a 32gb memory card. Card holds about 12-13 hours of continuous footage. If you are travelling for many days you may carry a Laptop & download the files every day. Has a in built GPS & software which records date, location, GPS co-ordinates & speed of the vehicle. Many built in features like Night recording, wide angle view (120 ), Locks the Mpeg file on Impact ( serves the function of a black box); records audio, Front & rear camera. Overall worth investment for roadies who like to document their trips . You may watch a 10 min Video footage in HD on youtube that was filmed last year on my dream drive from Bangalore to Ladakh on this link-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASPt8ax34cI

Hope this info is useful.

I will. sometimes record on my Android phone if required. I have mobile stand fixed anyways.

if you have a spare handset, you may want to try before splurging 7k on a dedicated device. there are Android apps available that start recording as soon as vehicle is moving.

thunderbolt suffered it's First puncture yesterday, due to a nail. thankfully the tire went flat when vehicle parked. rear left wheel.

I opted to fill hot rubber and repair the tyre permanently. few people know that using strings or plugs is a temporary way to repair a tubeless tyre puncture. many people keep riding tyre with just plugs or patches. that's unsafe.

filling hot rubber makes it safer and more permanent.
I paid 500 for repair. 50 for fitting.

else,
the tires and looking suddenly worn out and could need a replacement in 5k kms.
anyone has installed the fortuner 265/65 r17 tyres on xuv? I'm looking for some height as bumpers sometimes scrape on speedbeakers.

hey bhvm, I dont think I ever had issue with the plugs only with tubeless tyres at least not in the life of the tyre.

I am also looking for someone who has tried a wider track 255 or 265 in xuv, the rear will not be an issue but the front might scrape the fenders while complete turning. and I think you must be the first person I know who scrapes an xuv on speed breakers [surprise]

Hi Mayank,

I am not getting the time do anything about it. But I am thinking of giving it a pressure wash and look closely at the windscreen rubbers, may be I will find something, may be not. Besides it has almost stopped raining in Pune so I might also let it go till the next service.

Will keep you guys updated tih the progress.

BTW can you post a pic post fevibond application?

Regards,
Kinshuk

kinshuk,

1) I've had one bad experience on my safari with plugs/ strings . after a few month, the expansion and contraction of tyre (due to heat or vibrations ) will introduce small leaks around the plug.

also, if you hit a stone or other reasonably sharp object around the plug, it may come undone and cause sudden loss of pressure (catastrophe ).

for Me, one bad experience is too many, as my beast hits north of 160 on many trips and safety First.

2) if you visit surat deathway you'll know what I'm talking about. at the 2 railway crossings, fools have made... err.. mountains that even small trucks may scrape on. we have to take vehicle at an angle to get over them. one thing is sure that xuv lacks ground clearance compared to safari or fortuner.
