The new i20 will be offered only with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter diesel engine, with no option of an automatic transmission. The variant lineup of the car will be as follows: Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. There won’t be a base Era trim

The top-end Asta will not be offered with 2 airbags( for the driver and co-passenger), NO sunroof or a rear disc brake.
Base variants of the Elite i20 will come with 14-inch wheels, while the top-end will get 16-inch alloys. However, the spare wheel will be a standard steel rim.

The new multi-information display of the car will have an in-built service indicator. Another new feature which will be introduced in the i20 is a steering position indicator.

Also coming as an improvement will be the Bluetooth system which is a lot more functional than the outgoing model.
The music system on the top-end variant will have 1GB of in-built storage, and will play through four speakers.
On the outside, our source confirms that the ground clearance of the car has gone up by 4 mm and the wheelbase has indeed increased. The black C-Pillars seen here are not wraps, but are in fact black panels.

Well, I feel this is not in line with the feature lineup. They are removing so many things that made i20 a real "premium" car. Side and curtain airbags, read discs, sun-roof in the top end model made i20 a very unique product. Now with all this is going and may be even DRLs.

The spare is still a steel one. There are no new additions in the feature lineup like a touch screen interface, auto door locking, projector headlamps which some of the competition is offering. The engines are also the same. The only addition seems to be a more detailed MID and 16" alloys with wider 195 tires.

Now with all this how can Hyundai justify the premium over the current i20? I feel the price should not exceed that of current ones to make more sense to the prospective customer. Fiat nailed this for Punto Evo and I suppose Hyundai should follow them on this.

Features and varaiants from MT

There are four variants on offer, Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (o) and Asta. There are 7 colour options also.

Era

It will be the base variant and comes with a black grille, central locking, smart pedal, wheel covers, 2-tone beige and black interior, blue interior illumination, gear shift, low fuel indicator, front power windows, manual air-con, power steering, clutch footrest and power outlet.

Magna​

The next in line variant, apart from all the features in the Era, has features like headlamp escort funtion, keyless entry (foldable key), front grille with chrome, body coloured outside door mirrors and handles, rear parcel tray, sunglass holder, front arm-rest, 2 Din integrated radio+ MP3 player, 1 gb internal memory, front and rear speakers, tweeters, Aux and USB ports, Bluetooth, steering controls, front and rear power windows, rear ac vents, cooled glovebox, electrically adjustable outside mirror.

Sportz

Along with the above mentioned features the Sportz variant adds driver airbags, ABS, parking sensors, rear camera, fog lamps, impact sensing auto door unlock, electrochromic inside rear view mirror, rear defogger, turn indicators on outside mirrors, leather gear knob, leather wrapped steering wheel, height adjustable drivers seat, CD player, automatic air-con, tilt and telescopic steering, electric auto folding outside mirrors.​

Sportz (O)​

Along with the above features this variant has clutch lock, smart key, chrome outside door handles, diamond cut alloys, push button start/stop.​

Asta​

The top-end trim, along with the above mentioned features has passenger airbag, auto headlamps, steering position reminder, service reminder, parking sensor display, auto unlock funxtion, 60:40 split rear seat, adjustable rear headrest, rear wiper and washer and 2nd power outlet.​

Not at all a good trend. Hyundai dropping Asta(O) with 6 airbags isn't what I expected. At a time when our Govt. is trying to do something on the safety front I expected Hyundai to do a VW and make 2 airbags and ABS standard across all variants and provide one variant with 6 airbags, but seeing this trend makes me

As per those who have driven it the high speed stability is the chink in the armour.Its a pity that Hyundai has done away with 6 airbags.Elite has lost sunroof too!

Some more inputs/Feedback on the Elite from Motoroids,

• The New 2014 Hyundai Elite i20 breathes through a WGT (Waste Gate Turbo) instead of a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo). VGT’s score over WGT’s providing better economy, linear acceleration and less turbo-lag. However, WGT’s are considered to be more reliable
• Fuel Injectors are from Delphi again, this time capable of higher pressures
• The AC compressor is bigger in size and features a larger air intake, refrigerant is different
• Revised Suspension
• Smart key has a request sensor only on the driver side front door. Side mirrors open automatically, once the key is in proximity of the car
• Doors feel heavier and close with a ‘Thud’ sound in comparison to the ones on the outgoing model
• Multi-Information screen within the Instrument Cluster is now a colour display unit. Once the ignition is turned off, it provides data like Average Speed of the journey, fuel-economy and the duration for which the engine was running
• The newer version has surprisingly skipped on Daytime Running LED’s and a Sunroof
• Doors do not auto lock once the car is in motion, even after a specified speed
• Wipers do not feature rain sensors
• Once fired up, the motor is barely audible inside the cabin as Hyundai has made efforts to improve the NVH characteristics
• The New Elite i20 is quicker off the line and he also experienced the turbo lag to be less pronounced, credit for the improvement according to him could be the new WGT Turbo and the injectors
• No much difference in the new steering unit as it still lacks any weight and feel.​
• High speed handling has improved​
• The steering wheel feels great to hold, while the audio control buttons are a joy to use
• The suspension has been improved, as the excessive vertical movement in the older gen car has now been sobered down.

After seeing the pictures on this website yesterday, I loved the car and called my dealer. Saw the Elite i20 at Hyundai showroom yesterday. Not at display though, it was kept in the basement. Even with the low dim lights, it looked stunning. I saw the white colour model. Today I went and booked it :) Red color.

Congrats Navin for being the first one to book Elite i20 on our forum. What date has the dealer committed for the delivery?

The new Elite i20 looks stunning. Many people think it looks disproportionate but damn. That is one god looking car. So what if Hyundai took design cues from elsewhere?

If only Hyundai made their cars handle like Fiats/Fords or atleast like VW, they'd probably have a winner on their hands. Not that the mass won't flock towards it. Just that the car would be much better over-all. Like how draneesh said, the only chink in the armor is the bad handling and boat-like ride at high speeds.

Some Cost Cuttings Hyundai has done to i20,
Split Seats, Height Adjustable Headrests, Passenger Airbag, Rear Wiper only on Asta. Why like this Hyundai. In comparison, Old Jazz had these as standard even on base model.

Asta is Loaded and Sportz(O) will be most popular version IMO
