Felt the same, all is left on Price, VFM, Quality in & out. Incase this doesn't click, it'll be blessing in disguise for Honda Jazz to be the No.2 in Premium Hatch Space. That car has always impressed me right from 2001. As far as i know, the weak links of 2nd Gen was Lack of Diesel, High Price.

Looks like the dashboard is having beige part on the top portion

INTERIOR Pic posted by autocar india showed all black interiors
but this may also be varient wise

i think it will reach stockyards by 5-6 august then we will have more clarity about varient wise features as it the same happened with grand i10 also

This looks like the Asta (top end) petrol model and it is the 5 speed gearbox. VTVT can be seen in the pic. I hope they retain the 6 speed gearbox for diesel

I am in the market for a spacious hatchback with very good city drivability. Jazz and i20 are my top two options followed by Polo.

Now with the scoops, below are my first critical impressions.

1. Front seems to be a bit too long for a hatchback. Makes it look a bit disproportional. Would have looked super cool in a sedan though [:)] Advantage though is you might be able to see the tip of the nose while driving, just like in SUVs.
2. C Pillar seems to be way too thick and will create severe blind-spots. Reverse sensors and camera would be a must.
3. May be the picture quality, but the black beige interiors does not look too nice.
4. No touch-screen interface or even a big screen. Reverse cam view might be in IRVM just like the current model. Not to my liking [frustration]
5. Not sure if it has cruise control, 6 airbags. No sun-roof though.
6. Front end though not very attractive, luckily does not have bucket loads of chrome.
7. But after all this, does not look as royal or premium as the current gen i20.

Waiting for the launch and price. Not sure if I will wait till early next year for the Jazz or will go ahead with this if everything falls in place.

The front looks very long. With the vehicle supposedly longer and spacious than the current one, I hope they have freed up some internal space too and not just increased external length. One thing to notice is the single reverse lamp and that too on the RHS. Does that mean no rear fog lamp? Or is this export model? Or simple cost cutting [thinking]

Pre bookings to start Today. ACI speculates the New i20 to be called 'Elite i20'
ACI reports,
Although the new i20 will come with a raft of technology, the engine range will be the same as the current car. This means, the smooth-running 1.4-litre 89 bhp diesel and the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol motors will be continued to be seen in the new i20. Also on offer will be the 1.4-litre 99bhp Gamma petrol engine that will also come with an automatic gearbox

New i20 is indeed going to be known as the ‘Elite i20’. Hyundai has issued an official statement along with sketches this morning. Quick pointers:

Hyundai Motor has revealed design renderings of All-New “The Elite i20”, which was designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany. The new version of Hyundai’s popular B-segment model features the brand’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy, in a sophisticated and distinctive design.

The long hood and generous shape create a powerful stance for the All-New i20. The body sides are sculpted yet the overall architecture is clear and simple, with the cabin sitting cleanly on the body. In profile, the dark treatment of the C-pillar visually accentuates the car’s length.

The front presents a bold new interpretation of the well-established Hyundai hexagonal grille and a new thin horizontal strip connecting the headlamps. At the back, the wrap-around rear window and unique treatment for the lamp clusters combine with the car’s hatchback proportions to create a distinctive design.

Is it me or does the car look like really a mix of Polo and current i20 with Some old Mazda cars?
I find the sketching of the car to be much attractive than the real car in the spy shots.

Even To my eyes it looks like a copy paste job of many more models including the Bolt for the C-pillar to give it a floating look.

Yes, the real mule looks not so attractive as the drawings.

And that front looks so much ugly and it is overdone and spoilt. It more looks its mouth wide open. Just my points.

Following are the prices of present i20 ex showroom chandgarh

I am expecting a 5.2lakh starting price for petrol and 6.4 lakhs starting price for the diesel.
Assuming a 40k uniform price hike across all the varients.

I somehow got the impression that this car may have very good build quality. I know it is illogical to say basis of just the photos, but I did not get the impression with the Datsun and indeed that is the case in flesh. Let hope this one is true..I liked the car all around..dare I say, better than the Punto Evo..

I had requested the test drive for the 'Elite' i20 in Hyundai India website last night and I promptly got a call from their customer service this afternoon. They requested for a suitable date for test drive (only after the launch on Aug 11) and they will be forwarding my request to the corresponding Hyundai dealer here.
