Another EXCLUSIVE SCOOP: Specifications and features of the new Hyundai i20

VERSION CHANGES
1. The new i20 will be sold without an automatic transmission
2. Both petrol and diesel will have five version – Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta and one option from either the Magna and Sportz
3. 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel will continue with a 5-speed and a 6-speed manual respectively.

SPECIFICATION CHANGES
1. The new i20 is wider by 24mm. This means even more shoulder room!
2. The new i20 has a wheelbase thats longer by 45mm.
3. The new i20 is 3850mm in length, 10mm less than the current one.
4. Height stands at 1505mm
5. Ground clearance stands at 169mm – up by 4mm
6. 16-inch tyres on offer for top end : 195/55 R16
7. Petrol has claimed top speed of 165, diesel has 170
8. Torque of diesel goes up to 220Nm from 210Nm at same rpm.
9. Boot space remains same.

FEATURE CHANGES
1. Dual tone interiors : beige and brown
2. Rear AC vents – somewhat like the Elantra
3. High quality seat fabric
4. Front center arm rest with storage – NICE
5. Front seats are bucket type for sporty feel
6. Impact sensing door unlock
7. Clutch lock
8. Steering adaptive parking assist : new feature which we think pings the driver to straighten the wheel while switching off the car
9. Service reminder – new
10. Follow me home lamps – new
11. 2 DIN Audio – lower versions will not get disc compatibility
12. 1 touch lane change indicators
13. Smart pedals – cuts off acceleration if both accelerator and brake pedals are pressed in emergency
14. Colors include Polar white, mystic blue, sleek silver, stardust, passion red, Midas gold, pristine blue
15. Sunglass holder

I find this the best actually cos in todays crowded street where you mite have to glace at side mirrors,in stressful situation have a tiny screen on the mirror helps,in Fortuner & other cars i find it annoying to keep looking at touch screen when reversing then raise my head a bit to check around.

The sketches of cars are always non sense,when Tata launched Indica the sketches made it look like a low slung Ford Focus RS with 18 inch rims(saw it in Auto India magazine),what came to the showroom was something else[lol]

The above quoted features are the same in current i20 cant call them upgrade or changes.


The rear look reminds me of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Isn't that too much of beige on the dashboard? The reflections on the windshield are going to be a big problem.

OMG. The car has been completely revealed even before the launch. I know most of the people disliked the design, but I found it really awesome. It looks much more grown up than the current gen i20. The beige dashboard would certainly be a pain during sunny drives.

update. i had chance to sit in i20 petrol asta version today. here are some specification.
1. Tyre size is 195/55 r16 and spare wheel is rim
2. there is no side curtain airbags in asta model
3. music system is good and speakers are powerful
4. clutch is very light
5. arm rest has storage box unlike the old model
6. instrument cluster has full size mid. you can control all the setting in mid itself.

After seeing the pictures on this website yesterday, I loved the car and called my dealer.
Saw the Elite i20 at Hyundai showroom yesterday. Not at display though, it was kept in the basement. Even with the low dim lights, it looked stunning. I saw the white colour model. Today I went and booked it :) Red color.

Dashboard looks nice but complicated. The blue light effect is good though. Rotating camera at the back (when taking a reverse the camera moves left/right according to the steering wheel and graphic changes on the rear view mirror).
Rear air vents given.
Even though the dimension says it's shorter in length by 10 mm from the old i20, when u see it, it looks big and masculine. The bonnet is long and gives an elegant look.

Wished they had put in a bigger engine as I felt the existing i20 a little sluggish in terms of pickup. Over all a good car. Pricing expected to be Rs.40,000/- more than existing i20.
