I have a question here.
How much the Ford's Aspire/Figo Hatchback maintenance will be?
Now that they say 80% + localization has been done.

All am concerned is that will it be expensive to maintain one of these two cars, say over 5-6 years.
What do you anticipate ?
I own a Figo petrol for the past 5 years and let mr tell you this. Ford is extremely cheap to maintain,
Here is my observation of chealest to expensive brands in maintaince and service
Maruti Suzuki
Toyota/Mahindra
Ford
Hyundai
Nissan/Renault
Skoda/VW

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply @1989rs500.
Where would you rank a TATA in the above list.

Can you please tell more how the figo petrol drives ? I can read the reviews but coming from an owner is a different thing ☺

I think it's the same petrol engine which your car has. Please tell me about any positives , shortcomings and the mileage. We are considering a car and the toyota liva and this is now in my list.

Earlier Figo had a 1.2 L Petrol Engine which wasn't TiVCT like current one it was a Duratec Engine. The power output was 70 bhp. For city commutes, the engine was peppy enough at low revs, even if AC is switched on there wasn't much lag. Clutch was also light but not as light as say i10, Swift. Gearshifts were very smooth, but the engine required frequent gear changes especially at speeds over 70-80 kmph. It would struggle to breathe at higher speeds, apart from that the engine was fine for city drives though.

The Average FE i got in 5 years of ownership was 11.5 kmpl with 100% AC. I wish the new Figo gives slightly better FE.

Regarding Service Costs, the total bill averaged around Rs.3500, with 25k service being the most expensive at Rs.7500

TD the New Figo Petrol, i think this new engine will definitely feel improved at highways speeds as it has 18 bhp more then earlier one and that will make a lot of difference, if you're not particular on fuel, i would say go for Figo Diesel.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I can live with 11 kmpl since the drives will be to cover short distances (5 kms one side) and it won't be used for highway.

Will go to ford sc till warranty and after that aftermarket service center (bosch)
And yes i just read a review. It said car picks up speed in 2nd gear even at 10kmph. So another positive.

The new figo petrol review is nowhere available. Only the diesel and the automatic. Anyways will repory my experience when i take a TD.
Thanks one again.

I have owned Tata earlier and now we have two Ford in our home. The maintenance cost of Ford is very less compared to Tata.

Earlier in my manza, the average service cost is 7000rs. where as in my fiesta & figo it doesn't even cross 5000 rs.

Here is my ownership review of Figo Petrol,
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...rd-figo-zxi-petrol-2010-ownership-review.html

In the way she drives, there is no second opinion man, the Figo just with 70 HP drives like a common mans FWD Ferrari, its extremely good to drive, at some points I felt like the suspension is soo good that it can rival cars like even Jetta, thats the level of composure Figo has at highway speeds etc,
Fiat has the best steering feel of all cars I have driven so far, the Figo/Classic is second and then comes new Fiesta sedan,
The suspension bottoms out when 5 people enter the car and under body scrapes, that was a negative, also the engine is just average in terms of driveability, refinement, smoothness,
The new Figo will have improved Power, refinement, smoothness, mileage, as well
But TiVCT engines tend to have Power at top ends rather than bottom end like in current Figos 1.2 Rocam unit,

I went for test drive of figo AT and got an aspire AT got test drive. The car looks and feels good. But about the automatic transmission I would say even though it's a dual clutch like gt tsi, you should never ever compare both these cars. Gt tsi is a hoot to drive and will push u back when u press the A pedal. But nothing like that in fords dct. I felt the gearbox is a bit confused, maybe bcz the car just had 35km in the odo and the avg fuel economy was showed as 3kmpl. But I don't think it can cross a2digit figure of FE. Still it's a very good car with triptronic mode and all and a nicely positioned car. Ford giving 10 years warranty is a huge boost to book this car. I'm confused whether to book this. The only car I'm waiting to launch is baleno cvt. Hoping to see good reviews of automatic variants from the fellow members. Figo really misses on rear adjustable head rest. That's a big omission Ford. Everything else looked nice and comfortable.

Exactly man the Figo twins DCT cant be compared to the GT Tsi, the GT TSi needs a good 1 lakh premium from Aspire and a whopping 2 lakhs premium from the Figo hatch AT, so for that kind of money I felt the Ford twins nailed the value proposition,
Also mileage at highways of the Ford DCT will be super impressive ,but in city it will hover around 8-11 kmpl,

Hi Guys,

Few information i received from my SA from chennai ford.

1.) Trend+ Variant is a dealer level variant where dealer adds alloy wheels and fog lamps to the Trend Variant and sell it as Trend+
2.) Changing the profile of the tyre will not void the warranty as long as we keep the rim size to 14 inches. The moment you change it to 15 or higher inches suspension warranty will be void.
3.) 1.5L Petrol DCT is booked for 2015. If booked now, the car will be delivered only in 2016 [frustration].

For 90% of the folks (who use it for normal commuting as opposed to power packed performance), Ford Figo DCT is more than sufficient. I use Fiesta DCT. I am sure Figo will perform even better than Fiest due to lower weight but same engine and transmission.
Maintenance is really cheap with Ford DCT, I only paid 4500 per year for maintenance (where as I paid 5-6k for every 6 months of I10 automatic). Sometimes I asked them why so low maintenance charges. Their reply was petrol vehicle you don't need to spend a lot.
Mileage is decent in city bumper to bumper 9-10, moderate traffic (11-13), highways 16-23 depending on the speed and style. I get around 19 with 85-90 speeds and cruise control).
From reliability aspect also I will give more points to Ford DCT compared to VW DSG.
Apart from this there are quirks associated which are applicable to both DCT and DSG (like once in a while jerks/struggle to find right gear and grinding noise due to dry clutch functioning).
The feeling you get once you get past 30-40 speeds is exciting compared to TC and CVT's. It is super smooth at high speeds.
I also trust safety of Ford better than Maruti and Hyundai for sure.

Thanks for that short review @AutoKrish , The Figo/Aspire AT are even better tuned than the one in the Fiesta, the Fiesta is slightly hesitant t down shift, but the Aspire was a bit more eager to down shift depending on situations, also as mentioned as Aspire is ~ 100 kgs lighter than Fiesta the feeling of torque is really good, I was expecting a bummer with 4 on board but the Aspire with 3 people on board was FAST!
I am sure it can crack 0-100 under 12s even with 4 on board,
Also the Aspire/Figo AT will give stupendous mileage if driven with light foot, the Ecosport AT too gives 20+ kmpl if driven at 80-90 kmph on highway, so I believe those speeds in Aspire will give 22+ kmpl on highways
In city driving conditions no AT car will give more than 8-10 kmpl in bumper to bumper traffic and not more than 12 kmpl in average traffic,
The Aspie/Figo AT is for those who really want a seamless AT convenience without spending too much, After driving Aspire AT I felt like Jazz,Micra,Hyundai ATs are overpriced, its that good, its just like 80% as good as Polo GT TSi whereas Jazz,Micra, etc are just 45-50 % as good as Poo GT TSi

I never have seen any ecosport AT owners saying that high mileage. My friend who has an ecosport says 12-14 is the maximum he gets in highway.

Cruise slowly and one can get amazing milage with DCT ATs,
In between Figo AT gave average of 12.7 kmpl in moderate city driving
15.7 kmpl at 120 kmph cruise and 20.91 kmpl at 90 kmph cruise for cardekho.com editor,
The Figo AT will deliver impressive mileage if cruised between 80-120 kmph, which is again the safe driving speeds for Indian roads.
In my test drive I too saw 6.6 kmpl as average when I first took into the seat, after a 15 minute drive with full AC and 3 on board in moderate to heavy traffic the mileage was 10.3 kmpl,
I am sure the Aspire AT as well as Figo AT can give 20+ kmpl on highways, and 10+ in city drives once one gets in good contact with its charecter.
