Hi D.J.D by saying - immobiliser does not allow to start the car - do you mean you press the clutch pedal but you are not able to turn on the ignition? This does happen with me also. Most of the times as the doors are heavy they do not get closed. we tend to open and close them again.
Same here buddy. In my case I have to get down from the car and check all the doors and lock and unlock the car with remote. After that car will start without any issue

Hi Vivek,

Glad to see that you are keeping the thread alive.
I liked your seat covers, will contact Leo Car accessories when I get my ES delivered.
I did not find any mention about insurance in your thread. Did you go with dealer llinked insurance or outside? And who is the insurance provider?

Regards
Dinesh
Hi Dinesh, I got the insurance from ford only and its from Royal Sundaram.

really nice to see your white monster on highway [:)] .

BTW i have a question for you. Actually i am not able to figure out the immobiliser locking. Sometimes if i open any door and close it and again open another door and close, the immobiliser does not allow to start the car. In that case what i I have to do is get down from the car and lock and unlock the car with the remote. After that it starts. I am really confused [confused]

Hey DJD and Venkat, i think the immobiliser concept has nothing to do with door locking because it just senses the key code linked with the car in case of theft and if the key is not matched, the car gets switched off. Have you tried removing the key and switched it on again because this happens to me and I just remove the key and re insert it.

Vicky,

when the song is playing thru USB, press Menu multiple times and you will reach an option called Explore USB. when you press Ok, it will show folders and you can use up/down arrow in the top left to navigate further!.

btw, got a black trend from MPL, Taramani with tank full of diesel!

Hey prakash. thanks a lot for the option i will surely try this once I get time and hearty congrats for your monster. MPL gives full tank diesel for all the purchases done without any freebies. That's what I got to know! Post some photos and write up a review buddy!
Mine is PU leather MATTE finish but vinyl is shine finish which is of marginally better quality. Vinyl has shine finish which if gets dull will look bad. While Matte ones look better as time goes comparatively

Hey prakash, this has worked for me. When playing USB and by clicking menu button, I got albums option and with that I was able to play songs of a single album in a loop.
Venkat and anisin have a try at this. very convenient this way.

I think, there is no need to get down from the car.

Need to switch off fully and then start again, it will work. Also engine doenst start unless Clutch is pressed even in neutral. I dint try without pressing clutch as my experience with getz was the same and it doesnt start without pressing cluth.

oneway this is safe as kids cannot start accidentally. :)

or you can use the door lock/unlock button near hard lamp buttom instead of getting down

Yes, but it loops within the same album and doesnt move out and continue to next album!

As per maual, the run in period is 5000 kms buddy :( ;)
Vicky -> What is this run in period? Sorry for a Silly question, This is my first car and dont have any first hand experience ownership of new car. [confused]

is it on speed restriction for initial run.

when i glanced the manual, i noticed that during initial run it was suggested to drive with possibile gear shift options and no speed restrictions mentioned. only thing i noticed in manual was to avoid hard braking and excessive clutch usage.

Run in period as far as I know is the time the engine to get its character. By character, I mean the way it behaves at different accelerator inputs because the ECU of the car responds based on the history and present mix and the ECU or otherwise the PCM controls each and every function of the car as cars are now 25%mechanical and 75% electrical.
The above is what I came to know from my friend. Correct me if I am wrong.

i agree with you. further i want to add from mechanical side. See in a new engine (petrol / diesel) the friction between various rotating components is comparatively high. During run in period all these rotating components get smoothed and all the parts sets in properly. So in this period if you stress the engine (read high RPM, not high speed of the vehicle) it may disturb the whole engine setting process. That's why it is always advisable not to do excessive acceleration / deceleration or extreme high high speed during intial run in. Also better to replace the engine oil and oil filter after the run in. In case of petrol engine run in period is comparatively short say 1500-2000 km. But in case of diesel engines due to more rotating parts runin period may extend up to 5k kms. So if you want a smooth trouble free ownership, be gentle with your car during the initial run in.

Fantastic Great to Know. My car is on its way to Calcutta now. Hopefully it will reach by the 24th of Aug. Completing all process I might get it on hand on the 29th or 30th.

I will defiantly give it a try. Really feel revealed. In fact I was just creating playlists for all my albums. already created abt 20 playlists [frustration]

Great to know.

I also got the sandisk fit just for this..Rs 450 for 8gb.

Also How can I play all folders continuously..instead of just playing one folder via your technique.

Even I got sandisk 8gb now for that which is small and looks good. Its still in my car's glove box did not fnd time to reload the songs to it.
If you want to play all the songs, just plug in the USB and allow it to play without selecting any options.

Another Question, Is there anyway to switch folders via steering controls?
I am not sure but in BT its not possible anyways I will have a try and then let you know.

Hi Venkat/DJD/Vicky,

My car will be arriving in Calcutta tomorrow. Its a Trend 1.5 Diesel Mars Red. I am taking the insurance online from Royal Sundaram where the premium is Rs 22000 Bumper to Bumper along with additional coverage for the rear wheel cover and fog laps. Hopefully I will get the delivery by mid next week.

I am moving from petrol to diesel. I see that you guys are achieving out of world mileages.. I need to know what is the proper gear changing speeds you guys are using. Like currently in my i10 , i do the below.
Gear Upto Km
1st gear 10km
2nd gear 20km
3rd gear 30km
4th gear 40 km
5th gear above 40km

in the above I get a lag..and I do not return a milage of more than 13.5 even on 80% highway and 20% city

But please mention how you guys are driving.

Hi anisin,

Glad to know that you are getting your car by next week. One good thing in ecosport diesel is it's power delivery is almost linear and predictable. So you will not find any difficulty driving the ecosport diesel.

While shifting gear don't go by the vehicle speed. See the engine RPM. If you want good FE don't cross 2k RPM in ecosport diesel at the same time don't lug the engine. Try to keep the RPM in 1.3k - 2k range. Usually i am shifting in between 1.5 k - 2k RPM.

Also crossing the 2 K RPM during intial run In (at least initial 1600 KM) is a big no. See, in ecosport diesel you will get 90kmph @2k RPM in 5th gear. So limiting to 2K RPM will not be a issue i guess [:)]

Agree with D.J.D completely. I went to Chennai on the second day after taking delivery and I always maintained a max rpm of 2000 and I was able to get 90kmph. I have not yet crossed the 2000 rpm limit so far. I am planning to follow this till the first service - 2500 km.

I have one more question. Is the seat belt warning working in the Trend variants? I always wear my seat belt so I did not notice this but I think it is not working for me.
