Check out the pothole video below

Michelin XM2 Test - Pothole Resistant Tyres - YouTube

I've no complains so far. Its been gr8 ride ever since. [clap]
Good promo video by Michelin! One serious doubt, Michelin tyres might survive the kerbs and potholes but how about the rim/alloys? At least by the video i get an impression that the rims are taking a heaving beating and chances of it getting bent looms large.

The earlier versions of Michelin XM1+ used to last not more than 30k as one of my swift friend used it. The current XM2+ is having stronger sidewalls and it should last 35k in my opinion.

Even i had the same impression of rims facing the heat. But sufficient R&D would have been done before launching the product, and that too with such a promo vid.

Life, i believe it should last atleast 30-35K provided timely balancing, alignement & rotations are done.

My bike has been running on Mich for over 3.5yrs & almost 30K. Treads still look gr8.

Even i was worried about the rims after watching the video , Tyres might give better comfort and less jumps , but over the age Tyre might fail or worst rims might fail .

Or may be, here, in the case of michelins, You can consider the case of maintaining a higher psi than usual. Being soft rubber it can take up the potholes without much issues and psi being on a higher side, may not have the "impact" on the rims. But ride might/will get bumpy.

On a lighter note, the person who actually started the point of tyre change has actually gone missing [lol]

I do not buy it online for the same reason. Small fits like bumper guards and car care products can be ordered online. The heavier one's like DRL's, Armrest etc, will require proffesional fit and finish. And it might just play around the warranty too. If you go to a retail outlet, (J.C Nagar in Bangalore), and bargain a bit, you can actually get it cheaper. But all you need is patience to roam around different shops with different personalities as shopkeepers.[;)]
Thanks Ajay i will keep this in mind when buying accessories .

Update from My end , the car has arrived at the showroom [:)] and will mostly go for PDI tomorrow . The sales consultant tried some tricks to get me pay the amount before the PDI but i didn't budge. While booking the car i was told that Brio could come with either MRF/GY/Michelin tyres . I personally would prefer Michelins(total auto newbie but i guess its a much bigger brand globally) but i think i will mostly get GY/MRF. Now i did notice the Road Noise during the TD and all the talk above of it only makes me more apprehensive. Which is the best of the above 3 and especially between GY and MRF? Could it be possible to ask the Dealer to change them? Also is it advisable to immediately swap them by going to a Tyre Dealer and get a set of Michs?

I doubt Brio comes with Michelins. I don't think it does.

of the 2 tyres GY/MRF. GY is a better set of tyres. If you ask the dealer for a change, he will tell it comes from the factory fit (OEM) so he can't help you out.

You can get some heavy discounts if you swap the OEM tyres with the tyre dealers for yokos or mich's.
Which variant have you booked? If you've got the ABS fitted. Make sure you get them checked to when you swap the tyres.

Oh i thought MRFs are better , anyway i will only know tomorrow and there is not much i can get the Dealer to do about it. Hope i get the GYs , i have booked SMT so no ABS(VXMT was way out of budget) . How much of an irritant is the road noise in the city? Would the Yoko's or Michs reduce both the noise and bumpy ride? i think i will mostly have to get a feel myself once i get the car and decide if i want to switch.

I don't think it irritates much in the city traffic. But what I have felt on my GY's are only at high speeds(>110kmph) on the highways. That sound does irritate a bit. Got the underbody coat and vent visors fitted. Reduced to a certain extent. Wish I had those michelins/yoko.[evil]

Yoko/mich definitely ride better than GY/MRF buddy. Global Brand afterall[;)] [:)]

@Sid_Cruiser, MRF are worst at uneven roads or where they are lot of pebbles on road side , In city you will hardly notice it , but in high speed you will get taka taka sound which is irritating , i have got under body coating done since i live in Coastal exposure of Goa which makes it must, But you don't need that in Bangalore so you can use those funds to upgrade to better tyres .

Finished my ka-tn-kerla trip today after covering a total distance of like 1k in 3 days :)

While returning today from Coimbatore to bang via nh47/nh7 i saw the MID at 21.3 kmpl which was pretty impressive.

Overall, a lil disappointed since i did not get 25 kmpl inspite of not cross 90kmph and steadily maintained 3k rpm. Beyond 3k, i-vtec kicks in and honda is an absolute hooligan to drive.

As usual , when i rolled the windows down i could hear all kindsa stone mud, other trash hitting my underbody and b-pillar

This car serioulsy needs better tyres or a 3M underbody coating. Thoughts?? [confused]

did underbody coating help in getting rid of the gravel noise? i feel an 3m underbody coat will take care of the underbody scrapes and also the stupid gravel noise, but i need some advice.

Thoughts? [roll]

Can you furnish the breakup of repair work carried out at Trent automobiles? How is your over all experience with the service centre [:)]
hey bro, just saw this post now.

overall experience was grt id say. they removed all the dents without paint touchup. Apparently they have some patented technology or whatever called PDR , which removes dents without paint touchup!!

the dents were very small on the a pillar and hardly visible (coz of Urban titanium color), but i became consious when a couple of birds pointed out[anger] kinda felt embarassed.

Also got windshield polished since it ws a glaring like a lot, but un4nately its not made it any better..

Thats a good FE for a petrol car bro. 25 kmpl might be a bit too much to expect[surprise]
The max I ever achieved was 23.3kmpl on bangalore-mangalore trip. I had driven in the same range you are indicating. Below 100 kmph
That sound is normal. You cant do anything about it. It can be reduced slightly by the Underbody coat. May be tyre change can help better

underbody coat helps in reducing the noise only to a small extent. Its main purpose is to prevent the car's underbody from rust. They are more than usefull in coastal surroundings :)

Yes sound to cabin has gone down when car has all windows rolled up , but still some noise does pass through , i had done under body coat in Honda ASS which uses 3M , but my main purpose was to avoid Rust due to coastal exposure of Goa
