Remove that suzuki logo, and some might think it is Honda city [;)]
The beamer like tail lamp design looks pretty good but since it resembles 2014 Honda city people will assume that Maruti copied the design from City. But in reality, YL1 (which is Ciaz now) concept design with this tail lamp design was shown much earlier before Honda designed it for City.
So, who should get the credit?

^^ The rear design looks like Jetta ?
What will be special about VXI+ or VDI+ ?
Disappointing they still use 1248 CC Fiat engine for this car.
Its has been 7 years Maruti has been using this engine. Time to grow up and develop own engine.

Absolutely right! it's high time to leave behind 1.3 Ltr Fiat MJD and plonk either self developed engine or at least 1.6 Ltr Fiat MJD. And also they need to work on reducing the turbo lag for the diesel engine.

It is not a bad idea from Maruti's POV to used the proven engine. Enthusiasts might be put off but for a product to be successful this is the recipie[:)]

Things have changed over the time. The probable feature list for Ciaz would have been inspiring 2-3 years back. Now all these features (even more) are available in entry level sedans like Xcent & Zest. These entry level sedans provides almost the same power too (Zest engine produces 90BHP). Now the 'Space' remains only the advantage for Ciaz. Thus if this is accompanied with a better engine than 1.3 Ltr MJD with more power, it will be a good deal. Else why would Indian customer pay more just for space? If space was the only thing Indians wanted Nissan Sunny would have been a huge hit. No offence!
IMO, Maruti should provide multiple engine options at least for diesel (1.3 & 1.6) and that should be a wise move. SX4 cross will be plonked with 1.6 MJD so the modifications required in powertrain (if any) are already in place thus shouldn't be a problem to have the same as optional for Ciaz.

The target C segmet will not be competitive enough if they go with the 1.6 for the CIAZ to be a mass product.
S cross is Maruti's first CUV for having a presence in that segment before the XA Alpha arrives. HEnce S Cross is speculated to be released only in Diesel - the 1.3 and 1.6.

^^ But all the competitors have 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 machines. Its not just BHP on paper what matters. Hope it does not end up in SX4 way.

Here is the evolution of Ciaz as seen so far,
Suzuki patents the 'Alivio/Ciaz' design in China- Jun 14

Pic of Alivio appear in web (China)- Jul 14

Production spy pics of Ciaz from India,

In summary, though the Ciaz varies from those shown at Auto expo, the production version does vary but from recent postings it seemed consistent to the production version.

I think Ciaz is also headed the SX4 way. There is absolutely nothing noteworthy in the design or the specifications of the car. Like @AutoRock mentioned, all these features would have been noteworthy 2-3 years ago. Even the Fiat Linea, inspite of all its superlatives is not selling well -the few customers who look at Fiat sedan with diesel compare the 1.3 MJD with the 1.6 available in other cars and straightaway reject what is otherwise a very competent sedan.
SX4 is no different.
It is quite evident that MSIL is not really a player above the B+ segment. I dont consider the so-called sub-4m sedans as any higher than B+ hatchbacks, personally.

True.
Be it in looks or feature list it isn't offering anything ground breaking which can dethrone City from no.1 position or even give a good scare to Verna. They can only sell it in decent numbers if price difference is significantly on a lower side. In C segment and above Honda and Hyundai are much bigger brand name than Maruti and every customer while buying will consider it as well.
