Maruti Suzuki might bring Ciaz by May 2014

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest automaker is now gearing up to bring its newly manufactured Ciaz by the mid 2014. If media reports are to be believed, the company might launch this C-Segment saloon by the end of June or by early July 2014. By seeing recent year's trend, its quite shocking that the Japanese manufacturer will bring a new vehicle in mid of the year and not during the festive months. However, nothing has been confirmed from the manufacturer's side.

Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, the saloon painted in dark maroon metallic paint had gathered a lot of appreciation from the visitors and is expected that the company is planning to cash on the anticipation by bringing the car pretty soon in the Indian auto market. Under the hood, the petrol model gets company's tried and tested, 1.4 litre K14 petrol engine that also does duty in Ertiga. The engine produces a power output of 94bhp and 130Nm of peak torque. While in diesel model, it is expected that the company might bring 1.6-litre Fiat's MJD (Multi-Jet Diesel) engine or the existing 1.3 liter MJD (DDIS) mill that develops a power of 89bhp.

The interior pics which I had seen in ACI were impressive too.
Typical understated European design.

Wow going by the pics, this car looks pretty long to me. Surely more in length than the likes of City, Verna and Vento. Interiors should be fairly spacious I am guessing which would be a big plus in this segment. Being powered by the same 1.3DDIS engine, I hope they position it a tad below the likes of Verna & City to have a fair amount of success. Design wise seems a decent looking car and if priced aggressively, Maruti can have another successful model in its line-up.

Wow!This looks promising.If they get the pricing right,City has a threat looming.Bring in automatics in petrol and diesel and the competition can gawk "who moved my cheese".But is Maruti bold enough is the big question?Will they finally learn to crack the C segment?

Do you mean design patent has been filed in China. Then if they have not filed and obtained patent in India, any one can copy the design here

In China if you notice all manufactures would patent their designs before manufacturing the cars there... eg Celerio from Suzuki, BMW's, Porsche..etc.because the local manufactures copy their designs and rapid prototype them and release faster than the original car.
In Inda we have not seen much of the Chinese way of manufacturing!

That's a great news.[clap]

Maruti should launch this car as early as possible as Honda & Hyundai are getting away with huge business in this segment. I am sure margins are also better in this segment compared to hatch. Ciaz looks to have great potential in Indian market. Need to see how they are launching this car, i mean specs, prize etc. Hope MUL will launch it with very attractive price tag.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to stir the market once again with its magnificent premium saloon Ciaz on 31st April, 2014. An industry source close to the development, fed us that the car will have a very competitive price range. Before we even set to publish the news, some of the dealers have already started taking bookings with a down payment of just Rs 11! The source in the industry mentioned that the Ciaz won't be a complete replacement of SX4 as it is expected to be priced around Rs 4.75 lakh for base petrol and Rs 5.5 lakh for the base diesel.

Unveiled at Auto Expo, the car features very elegant exterior design along with the many first in class gizmos. The car will be put up against the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Fluidic Verna but in a very economical way.

Under the hood, the new 1.6-litre MJD engine might do all the work of power development, while for the petrol version, the company is working on a whole new K series engine with high performance capability.
