Re: Test Drive Ciaz ZDi in Pune

I had taken test drive of Ciaz ZDi model in Pune at My Car.

The engine seemed very noisy outside, but as you step in there is absolute silence. Amazing sound insulation. Didn't feel like diesel engine!

The interiors looked very nice and the car felt very spacious. Plenty of legroom and lots of small places around to keep your stuff - mobile phone, wallet, parking tickets etc.

I personally did not feel the car under powered. We were 3 adults and 1 kid and the car drove effortlessly. Pickup and acceleration was good. Once turbo kicks in (appx 1800 - 1900 rpm), there is plenty of power. Drove the car at speed of 80 on rough patch of road - lot of pebbles and some pot holes. The car drove well and suspension did feel very nice.

Personally I loved the ride and car.

I had pre-booked and my booking number is 2 at the dealership. However wanted to TD both Petrol and Diesel before making decision. The dealer doesnt have Petrol car.

Also I wanted top end Z+ model, which will not be available before Jan 2015.

The pricing of ZDi in PCMC is 11.5 lac which is around 40-50k less than City V iDetc. Even Ciaz ZXi is priced at 9.92 lac while City V iVetc is priced at 10.35 lac. Felt the prices to be little higher.

Currently my Ford Ikon is driving well and does not have any sort of problem. So I am planning to use my car for another 2-3 years and cancel my Ciaz booking.

I went primarily to compare it with City only so i can see if its a better option or not. Space is good no doubt but then City is very spacious too.Driving position is hard to find and back seat is not at all comfortable.

I am 6.1 and never had an issue in City. In fact i use to think nothing can beat the comfort of Manza's seats but City has easily beaten it.

For AT i won't go for City or Ciaz. Get a Vento DSG. Nothing beats it and only question is its A.S.S.
I had considered City, Verna, Vento even Sunny, Amaze. Verna really looks like a premium car but back seat is claustrophobic, Vento is solid but does not enjoy good reputation regarding ASS and even Sales. I have driven Tata Indica Xeta for 7 years. Despite it being a very-very good product, I will never go near any Tata car showroom due to horror experiences I had at Tata workshop all these years. Hence I won't buy any car with bad ASS reputation.

I wanted to buy City despite its space issues for tall people (raised floor at front etc.) but quality of ANC and CVT availability only in SV (11.3L with not even alloys or parking sensors) or VX (13.5 L too much, ~6 month waiting) stopped me from buying it. I would have bought a V-CVT City.

The Ciaz fills my checklist maximum. Its seats may not be as soft as ANC but I did not find them uncomfortable. I have to drive on week-ends in Mumbai bumper-to-bumper traffic. I have pre-booked long ago after seeing reviews/pictures and hoping that Maruti won't disappoint me.

Hi Guys,
Had a TD of Ciaz ZDI, yesterday, Observations are:

Its a big car, front row and second row has ample space.
Engine: Its refined and i didnt feel turbo lag, 4 adults were onboard and AC was on.
Suspension was set up perfectly for city ride, didnt able to check it on high speeds.
Equipment levels were good, you just buy this car and you dont need to fit anything into it.

Overall a satisfying TD, will TD petrol in coming weekend as iam more inclined to petrol due to 1.5 L differnce (9.25L for ZXI and 10.80L for ZDI).

Any idea of waiting period for people who pre-booked?
Hi, I checked with my uncle and he informed me that those who have pre-booked the Ciaz are likely to get the delivery earlier than the mentioned waiting period. The waiting period for this car is expected to come down by a month or so in near future.

Regards

Akash

Pre booking waiting period is highly unlikely to be any different from the above mentioned. Let me check.
Then what is the use of pre-booking? It's better to see the car, TD, take opinion and book. What Maruti is going to do with 9000+ cars already manufactured as shown in many inventory images from Haryana Plant? [frustration]

Dealers are just creating hype. MSIL has good inventory, but demand for the car is also nothing less. But dealers are doing just a bit of over-action. But don't worry, the waiting periods for this vehicle are not going to be for long. They eventually come down.

Latest info on bookings of Maruti's new kid - Ciaz.
The waiting period of Ciaz soared high up to two to three months in metro cities while there is still three to four weeks of waiting in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
Metro Cities ( New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata):
In Delhi and NCR, the base variants of Ciaz attract a waiting period of 8 to 12 weeks while the top end model attracts a waiting of 12 to 16 weeks. Talking about the response the car is getting, one of the biggest Maruti Suzuki dealer in Delhi has already received booking of 200 Ciaz's.
While in Mumbai around 7000 Ciaz's are booked in South West zone. In the commercial capital, Ciaz is clocking a waiting of 2 to 2.5 months. Same is is the condition in Chennai and Kolkata.
Other Important Cities
While in Jaipur, Ciaz is attracting a waiting period of one and a half months, depending upon the color and variant. In Ahmedabad and Indore, the waiting period is close to two months. While in Chandigarh, the petrol models are attracting more waiting period than the diesel models. The petrol variants are getting 3 to 4 months of waiting while the diesel models call for 2 to 3 months of waiting.
Moving down the south, dealers at Hyderabad and Bangalore are too busy booking Ciaz. The petrol models are under 4 weeks of waiting while the diesel models are attracting 8 weeks of waiting.

Still very disappointed by Maruti's response. People who booked within 1-2 days of start of booking in Sept are feeling lost. There is no info from either the company or dealer, only mentioning prices. No TD, no info on accessories, not even probable dates for delivery. It may kill all excitement soon. All of us who pre-booked in first week of sept hoped to get car by Diwali but feel very sad that there is no info on anything. This is how they planning to lead the segment in today's world of quick breaking news.[anger]

Hi All,

Regarding the so called waiting period of Ciaz, its really the MSIL created one waiting period. MSIL is manufacturing the car since August 2014 and by now they must be having around 13-15K cars already waiting to dispatch or already in transit. Total bookings are around 15K maximum, than why this waiting period.

Its mainly due to few things, if a person is ready to shell out hard cash than you might get the vehicle in few days depending on the colour and variant ypou choose.

God only knows why the hell there is a horrendus waiting list on ciaz

Old dzire cannibalized sales of sx4. Now new dzire CS cannot cannibalize ciaz as the length matters now. Let us wait for 6 months atleast to see how sales for ciaz is going to be.

It is good to wait for 2-3 months at least if there are any small design flaw in first batch it will corrected on subsequent batches.

In my personal opinion, we should not buy the cars manufactured in early batches. For e.g Honda Amaze had hydolocking issue and poor car owners had to pay from their pocket.

I agree with this. I still can't believe what would have happened if I bought first batch of Grand i10. We have a lot other things to worry about and this is not one of them, according to me.
