Between, in the 4th snap shared by 350Z above, there is a shutter below the ACC unit which seems covers the 12V sockep and perhaps USB slot and may be something else. I have seen such design in some of the high end cars, nice move by Maruti I should say.
It is available in Xcent too, though Maruti can call it as segment first... [;)]

Answer is 'NO', and fitting aftermarket touchscreen with navigation in City will be a pain due to the way dashboard is designed.
As I said, the thread is on fire  ! Thanks. But most modern mobile phones offer GPS. Would anyone want that in the car too? Tough question, but many people buy it for boasting (Trust me, I've got certain relatives). Its only a day's time till we know the details. Fingers crossed, again...

Maruti Ciaz diesel claims highest fuel efficiency - beats even hatchbacks on mileage! Ciaz will be launched at the Paris Oct Auto show internationally.

The diesel-powered Honda City sedan has an ARAI rating of 26kpl and the Amaze compact sedan has an ARAI rating of 25.8kpl. Hyundai's compact sedan offering, the Xcent, has an ARAI rating of 24.4kpl; while the Grand i10 hatchback is rated at 24kpl. The Beat diesel hatchback from Chevrolet is rated at 25.44kpl. The Maruti Ciaz's ARAI rating at 26.21kpl trumps all the cars mentioned, even the hatchbacks.
ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) ratings signify the fuel consumption a car could possibly achieve in perfect conditions.

Well, the FE beats everything else, but I had come across a mathematical calculation which was initially discussing about units (What is better? l/100 km or Km/l?), and a chart was posted. In that, it clearly showed that if you upgrade from a car that gives 10 km/l to 15 km/l, you will save more that what you will save by upgrading to 15 km/l to 20. Worse still, 20-25 etc. So only some decimals ahead of others will not attract much savings (It was concluded that l/ 100 Km was the best). But most are ill-informed. So that will not affect anything.

Yes you are right. In Europe they caliculate like this. But in the real world, we all know that ARAI figures are not accurate . In UK, people filed a complaint on manufacturers saying that cars doesn't give claimed mileage figures. Then ARAI people explained that these tests are conducted in a closed room with minimum friction environment and report the mileage figures to the manufacturer. So ARAI figures are utter useless and they are only used by the manufacturers to market their cars. My swift used to give 17-18 kmpl in city when its new, now its at 90k kms and it doesnt give more than 15kmpl. So in real world, be it Honda, Ciaz or Fiesta. They give more or less the same according to our driving conditions. But the most important factor is, how about the performance of the engine? In my swift, I rarely cross 2,500 rpm to maneuver around town or out on the highway. Will the Ciaz be able to give me the same performance under 2,500 rpm ? Please dont tell me that its a rev friendly engine so you can rev it upto 3,500 or 4,000 rpm to get your desired performance out of the engine. I dont want to rev the engine, I prefer an engine that gets the power in the low revs and 1.3 mjd has this ability but how it performs in the bigger ciaz is the question? . So I dont want to make any conclusions regarding the car until I test drive it. One thing which is clearly understood is that maruti is spending a lot of money for the marketing.
Second thing is, those interiors look beautiful in pictures. But I want to see how they feel in real. Because pictures can be deceiving.

Yeah, ARAI figures do mislead, but if driven under even better conditions the mileage exceeds the ARAI figure. In some rally consisting of only dZires, a driver manged 42.xx km/l! So thank the God they do not test under such conditions. Under 2500 RPM, it might shudder but in city traffic I'm having a feeling its gonna be a pain in the neck. But it's quite light so I doubt that. Let's not make any conclusions till one of us take the test drive [:)]

Quick drive: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Here is the first review that came up. I dont believe this 0-100 kmph timing to be 11.30 secs. Looks like they have tuned the engine and unleashed its potential.
Fiat engineers could be in coma after listening this news [lol]
Maruti has definitely developed excellent skills to fine tune this Fiat MJD at will. 0-100 kmph in 11.30 secs with 1.3 ltr VGT engine and that too with the best mileage figure in India -26+! Where on earth did they find the right combination of ECU & gear ratios? Kudos to MSIL.
BTW, for Honda City Earth Dreams, 0-100 acceleration takes 14.75 secs.

In my swift, I rarely cross 2,500 rpm to maneuver around town or out on the highway. Will the Ciaz be able to give me the same performance under 2,500 rpm ?
Ciaz uses the same 90BHP Fiat MJD with VGT from Ertiga. In Ertiga, there is turbo lag below 1800 RPM and turbo starts spooling post 1800 RPM and once 2000 RPM is crossed, you get sudden serge/rush of power and it continues further. Looking at the first reports of Ciaz, they have fine tuned this engine to reduce turbo lag below 2000 RPM which is welcome move, while keeping the DNA of this engine (serge post 2000RPM) intact. And due to the lesser weight of Ciaz, it accelerates prety quick and above 0-100 kmph rating suggests the same. Fingers crossed though!

Maruti Suzuki has commenced the bookings for Ciaz from today onwards. Prospective buyers can block their piece for Rs.21,000 before it turns into a massive waitlist.

Had been to Maruti showroom today. 21K is the booking amount. They totally don't have any clue on the price. In case of cancellation they clearly informed me that 21K is fully refundable within 7 days of the launch which is likely to be 1st week of OCT.

This looks apt replacement for the mighty SX4. Looks rather good and just hoping pricing would be bang on. High time for Maruti to garner back some sales that were lost.
