They had to do so. I am not surprised by this. It was expected from Maruti because they know Indians very well and price accordingly. The cars which they had overpriced failed.
:agree:

Nishant is right, I think we should come back to the point. One last note : Wise buyers (who know ABS will be mandatory later) will not take any non-ABS models. So MSIL better price it wisely. Do you think they would charge more money for the engine tune they made? It's hard to tune any engine to it's max.

So, here are the reviews from

OVERDRIVE:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojtUfDF_dxg

and AUTOCAR:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsGrHou5leU

After seeing and reading many reviews, I am still not able to asses the performance of this car. Some say that performance is adequate, some say it feels underpowered, some say it has the turbo lag below 2000 rpm but then comes the sudden surge of power. (But mostly I amble around 2,000 rpm in my swift)

Some one from TAI should drive this car and let me know its true performance. I just want to know whether it is adequate in the city or we need to slot too many gear to overtake.

So one thing is certain, the Petrol is not as good as the diesel variant Ciaz.
I'm confused as ACI have said that handling, refinement and noise have been very well controlled, but OD says that they could have done better?
Will need an ideal road test by a TAI-ger to know the truth.
I also will do a TD soon.

The car looks premium. It will sell , unless the engine comes out a cropper in long run
Maruti Suzuki gets 3,000 bookings for Ciaz within three days of launch - The Economic Times
That was bound to happen. Looking at the initial response, mouth publicity will attract even more customers. The last two predecessors of the Ciaz went up in flames big time. SX4 was a bloody dud, since its old-school styling. Baleno, I liked it. Wonder why did it get what it has. Due to its aggressive styling, it might attract guys who want too much show and little go. Like TSIVipul wrote once, If your wife's friend owns a City, and you buy anything lesser, you are in big trouble (Didn't quote since these were not the exact words he said). So, sometimes that same thing happens with us when somebody is boasting about his Khatara Oh, I forgot! Do not bash up any MSIL lovers since until Ciaz releases :stupid:

Ciaz website goes Live. 3000+ bookings for a car yet not even seen ( forget TD)by most prospective customers is commendable.

CIAZ - Features, Specs, Review, Picture Gallery, Mileage and Price
People have become smarter these days, if the car is good then they dont want to face the waiting periods. Since the amount is completely refundable, its a risk free thing. Some people even dont care about test driving a wheel, they simple care about how big it is and how it looks. And TD vehicles will have a higher state of tune than what we actually get because TD vehicles need not have good mileage. I experienced this in a polo 1.2 TDI TD vehicle. So if you like the feel and how it rides, after driving it, then you can buy the vehicle.

[shock][shock]! I thought the car is being shown, only deliveries will start from Oct 10! This is too much. I would rather stand in the waiting queue rather than this. Even though the amount is refundable. BTW, we cannot assume that if Ciaz got 3000 bookings, 3,000 Ciaz-es will be sold. But we can assume that 3,000 people showed interest in Ciaz.

Its a maruti dude, people will show interest. And I wont be suprised if it becomes another swift in sales. If the performance is adequate people will buy them like crazy, it rides and handles better than a Honda city, has more space, reliable engine with lots of space and good after sale service. So it is ticking the right boxes for many except a few. So lets not be negative on it unless we test drive the car.

No yOu are again wrong. 10 - 12K people show interest and 3K bookings done.
This is a Maruti product and Ciaz is great in their attempt if it undercuts H - City.

I meant showing interest in buying, and buying before the waiting period shoots up [:)]. Like, I'm participating in (Rather, making junk of) this thread, but I am least interested in buying it. Most are like that, I read this somewhere:

...And thus were lost happy, satisfied customers to another manufacturer. Usually to Honda and the City. The Ciaz attempts to retain those customers who sing praises of Maruti’s quality, reliability and massive network but didn’t have a car they would aspire to own.
SRC- Quick drive: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz , thanks Volksjager for sharing this review.
