Here, the comparison is only about record no. of bookings in first week or first 10 days of all the cars that get launched in the market irrespective of their segment.
It just shows the acceptance & liking of that car by the people. It also reflects the trust people show towards the manufacturer.
Nobody here is saying that XUV is inferior to Ertiga in any way. They are excellent cars in their segments.
It is just about the numbers, nothing else. [cheers]
But pricing also matters buddy. The number of people who can afford a 6-8 Lac Ertiga will obviously be more than the number of people who can afford a 12-15 Lac XUV! So it is but obvious that the booking figures of XUV will be lower.

For example, the Fortuner is loved by almost everyone. But look at it's figures. Can we compare the 25 Lac SUV's figures to the Ertiga. But obvious, pricing matters.

Guys lets not compare the sales of XUV and Ertiga. The two cars lie in entirely different price range and segment.

+1. But the fan-buoyant of M & M never dies down, irrespective of thread [angry]. When we said Ertiga did good sales, why was XUV brought up from nowhere ? Lets focus on car & not deviate by other vehicle. We are giving details of Ertiga. If someone wants, one can start Ertiga Vs XUV or Ertiga Vs Submarine thread.[lol]

Buddy, XUV was bought into picture by 'Knightrider' -

With more than 11000 bookings in first 6 days, Ertiga surpassed XUV500's record of 8000 bookings in first 10 days! [clap]
Is he an M&M fanboy? I dont think so.

Oh common, don't start pointing fingers at individuals now. You've already heard quite a lot on other forum for trying to find negatives in the Ertiga.

I had just posted the news about new record in car bookings, with no dis-respect to the XUV.

Read here:

P.S.: I don't wish to continue Ertiga v/s XUV debate any further.

[lol]

There are a lot of Maruti fanboys/loyalists around who cant take any criticisms towards their brand. I am not here to please them! Anyways, stick to the topics in this forum bro!

Did I say you disrespected XUV? Read my post again and understand to who it was addressed and what it's contents mean. Thanks.

Relax Guys i think there is some miscommunication/misinterpretation.
It started with some abrasive comment somewhere in the thread leading to some misinterpretation. Let bygones be bygones. I dont think Raj meant anything against Knightrider.

I hope all members resist from making abrasive comments, doesnt really help anyone.
I personally feel if you own a certain brand of vehicle you have all the more responsibility to highlight or rather lowlight the essentials thereby giving the prospective buyer the right information - straight from the horse's mouth - i dont see any pleasure in continuosly praising your own vehicle, you only end up looking like a fool. Afterall we are automotive enthusiasts (or atleast meant to be ). Lets be pragmatic.

Back to topic I think nothing can take away the success of Ertiga - afterall sales number is one of the greatest measure of success(for the price band and segment of the car).. someone rightly said, Jo Jeeta wohi sikandar [:)], maruti has got it right (once again! )

MPV bookings have reached the 15,000 units milestone within a week from the day of its launch. While the bookings are going sky high, Maruti is eyeing to make other nations fall in ‘LUV’ with Ertiga. Maruti Ertiga launch in Indonesia is expected to receive a similar response as the MPV got in India

Hell with Indonesia. Why can't Maruti first reduce waiting period here before going abroad ? Seems this is a ploy by Maruti to keep waiting period high & giving impression that car is better than expected.[frustration]

I am sure that such gimmicks of artificial waiting time will surely back-fire on Maruti one day or other.

Profit, Profit, Profit.....[lol]

All car Co. Nothing to do for Indian Customers. They know Indians are fool enough & can wait for such hyped product (Already been happened when XUV500 launch not only for india but also for Russia,Brazil,Africa Can any one digest the fact even after 6 months of launch 0nly 7200 Nos. XUV500 been provided for 25000 Nos, booking), almost same scenario with ERTIGA, Ford Ecosport first shown in Indian Auto Expo (jan 2012) now been showcased in Beijing mtor Show & will be launch on Oct 2012 in China first & after 4 month it'll be launch in India (that's why they calling it Ecosport 2013).[:D]

The biggest loss due to this car would be the hopefulls of swift and dzire.
now there is a great possibility that those waiting fir these two models would surely convert to ertiga especially the top end customers of these two models.

there is an explanation to it.
waiting 6 months for your car to arrive. a new car launches. same engine same power, interior, same company, same reliability. but a shot to get the car much earlier than earlier quoted time. what would you do??
switch?? absolutely. and in the process you stand to gain more than you bargained for.

Hi All,

This is my first post and am glad that I have joined this community. I had a chance to test drive Ertiga ZDI over the weekend and the car (MUV) was a pleasant surprise. Its simply a brilliant package. It has got adequate space, power(although little sluggishness in lower RPM's), utility, powerful AC, reasonable refinement and enough features with pleasant interiors. It have got all the components to succeed in the market and make a cash cow for Maruthi. This will also drive Maruthi into a higher segment that was never its forte.
