My colleague wants to buy Ertiga and he was in dilemma of petrol vs diesel. Now he decided upon petrol and he was informed by SA that 4-6 months waiting period for Petrol Ertiga and diesel one is available. I was actually shocked.

He said that SA informed, before there was no demand for petrol so comapny was not manufacturing much. Now suddenly a there is surge of demand and company have just started manufacturing petrol ertiga in bulk.

Is this the beginning to the end of diesel era? [glasses]

I must say people at-least may have come to their senses that Buying and maintaining a diesel is costlier than petrol!

I think Indian's thinking is very sensitive and any one can play around with it. A sudden surge was there for diesel cars and then with few increases in diesel price the wave has changed over to petrol again.

And more than 60-70% of people are not sure about what their need is and what they want to buy. [lol]

Maruti Ertiga records its best ever monthly sales in Indonesia

The Suzuki Ertiga clocked 5,467 units in January 2013 thereby capturing the 4th spot in the Indonesian market. The Ertiga for Indonesia is being shipped from India in the form of CKD kits which are then assembled at Suzuki’s local facility.
With the demand for Ertiga in Indonesia increasing rapidly, the mini MPV could topple the Daihatsu Xenia from its 3rd spot in the months to come. Moreover, Mazda has now started taking bookings for the rebadged Ertiga which the company calls as the Mazda VX-1.

Ertiga is offering 28k discount on its diesel models.

@ Vishawas,

Diesel will rule the market for those who travel & surely those using car on weekend will go back to petrol. The recent fuel hike where diesel went up by 49p but petrol buy 1.5rs. Not to forget the FE which is more by 25-30% in case of diesel.

SCOOP! Maruti to launch Ertiga CNG

According to reliable sources, the company will announce and even start rolling out a greener variant of the Ertiga within 2-3 months.

India’s largest carmaker is aiming to sell nearly 1,000-1,500 units of the Ertiga CNG every month. Currently, it is sold in petrol (1.4-litre, 4-cylinder) and diesel (1.3-litre, 4-cylinder) variants, and the Ertiga MPV sells, on average, 5,000-6,000 units per month.

Ertiga sales have been filling in the vacuum caused by the dip in sales of other passenger cars from Maruti over the past year. The Ertiga currently faces the closest competition from the Mahindra Quanto and Renault Duster. However, the growing MPV/SUV segment lacks any CNG variant so far and Maruti is planning to tap into this space by making the Ertiga the first CNG-powered MPV in India.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG Launch Next Week

May 2013 was not a favourable month for most automakers including Maruti Suzuki India, which inspected a drop of 14.4 per cent. In fact, sales of some of its top-selling diesel vehicles including Swift and Ertiga too declined. So, to equalize things, MSI is planning to launch the Ertiga CNG version by next week.

According to a report , Ertiga CNG will be available in the LXi and VXi trims, but not in the top of the line ZXi trim. The Ertiga CNG variant would cost about Rs 30,000 more than the regular variant in the same trim. Why it is an important move is the fact that the demand for diesel vehicles has been declining for a couple of months, due to rising diesel prices, so a CNG would be right product to pitch to the people who are looking for cheaper fuel options. And Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be the second vehicle to have all three fuel options, the other vehicle is SX4.

“The idea has been to have two fuel options available for every model. Normally, we offer a CNG option only on models that have a petrol as a lot of work is needed to modify the engine and the suspension,” a senior company official said.
