Ciaz boot closing issue resolved now after first service. I had reported this to SA. Dont know what they did, but now it closes on the first attempt.[clap]
They must have adjusted the bushes around the boot. Bushes are actually like 'screws'. You could turn them to adjust.

Another query for fellow CIAZ ians,
I have seen a rectangular portion on the drivers side of front bumper. What is it? Is it detachable?
I found out the answer to this query in the Ciaz owner's manual.
It is the detachable cover for the frame tow hook.
Frame Hooks
Front
1) Take out the necessary tools (jack handle) from the onboard tool set.
2) Use the end of the jack handle wrapped with a cloth to open the front tow hook cover.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi Friends,
I just joined your CIAZ team last month with a VDi+ SHVS. Since the starting I faced an issue of abnormal noise (ubb ubb ubb or if you are able to imitate a heartbeat within your throat) from front suspension which is felt in slow speeds and on a rough road or when I am going on a speed breaker or just as I am getting down from it. Sorry but this is the only way I am able to express the abnormal sound. I got it checked at service station 3 times but they say that noise is normal. But for me it is first time I am experiencing this sound in so many years of riding cars. They got new 2 new CIAZ checked by me for the noise and to my surprise both of them had the same noise.
I wanted to ask if anyone of you is or has faced this kind of noise/sound in your CIAZ, if yes, how it is addressed.

Once again sorry for being so creative in imitating the abnormal sound but believe me that's the way I am able to express it at this moment.[confused]

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hi guys,
I took the delivery of Ciaz Zxi+ last week. All in all a smooth ride for the first week except a couple of issues which I thought to report and If ican get some help / opinions on the same it'll be immensely helpful.
1. Minor Sound from left side of the suspension (probably a bush / link rod). The sound is irritating and is more like a minor clank at uneven roads.
2. Gearknob fails to go to the reverse gear. Have to release the clutch and then reingage to enter reverse gear. (Had similar issues with Swift )
3. Tuning is bad. Engine shudders at low rpm. So whenever I am starting from stop, I have to rev to engine to around 1500 to get a smooth start. (Should be sorted at first service)
4. This is a peculiar problem which I am facing for the first time - at speeds over 100 the steering becomes extremely sensitive (Due to this I have not driven at speeds over 120). At 80-90 the steering is fine. (Steering is light, but fine) . but the moment I cross 95-100 it feels extremely sensitive to the slightest movements. Having driven Swift, sx4 and other cars over, I'm quite sure this is a issue which needs some technical help.

Any help / suggestions is appreciated as that will help me say the same to the Service A. , ad I am sure they will just look to brush aside the issue a lt first.

Thanks,
Manu

Answer to question 1

It is normal, the noise will settle down after few thousand kilometres. Depends on how you break-in you suspension. Because you are in Bangalore run-in you car on nice road is advisable, good for suspension and for engine.

Answer to question 2

Reverse gear will not have Synchronizer, its is sliding type with sleeve mechanism not only for MSIL cars but all manufacturers follow the same, it is difficult to add Synchronizer to reverse gear, its technical limitation so all manufracturers uses sliding type with sleeve mechanism. So difficulty in shifting reverse gear is normal.

Answer to question 3

1500 to 1750 is the best rpm to take off the car from first gear. Below that you feel shudder, so follow 1500 to 1750 take off rpm

Answer to question 4

Check your tyres air pressure, follow manufacturer specified tyre pressure, tyres will break in for about 500km.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

Thank you Suryaputhra sir,

Yes, ran the car for about a total of 200km over the log weekend.

Suspension noise and the reverse gear problems have settled down or probably I have got used to them.

However, the idle start shudder is still persisting. Idle start engine RPM reads about 500 only which I think should be corrected during first service and might be the culprit. Yes, I try to rev to 1500 for starting from 0.

The tyre pressure is correct. Through MSIL gave delivery with PSI of 45-46 in each tyre as against recommended PSI of 33 I got it corrected and filled nitrogen the very next day after taking delivery but the problem is till there.

Thanks for your inputs.

This is likely the ECU still trying to learn a smooth idle - a normal phenomenon which can also occur after the vehicle battery is discharged for some time, causing the ECU to lose its memory.

Here's what I've done previously to force the ECU to learn faster:

- Start the engine. If it starts to stall, tap the throttle.
- Repeat until it can idle on its own. Let it warm up.
- Hold the brakes. If it's an auto, put it in D. If manual, keep it in Neutral.
- When stable idle, turn on the AC and and electrical accessories (Lights, etc.) you can. This loads the engine via the alternator.
- Let it idle for a couple of minutes before shutting everything off

Hopefully this helps. If not, the issue could be with your throttle body, ignition system or a manifold sensor!

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

I purchased Maruti Ciaz VDI(o) in Dec2015, Its run 5000kms, I just got my 2nd service done. During service I told the technician that my car has a strange issue which I dont know is a issue or a standard feature (if it is then whats the use of it ?) but he has NO ANSWER and said he will get back but vanished from scene after that...

ISSUE: When I remove foot from clutch and car is not in gear then it stops , thats fine I think thats a standard feature BUT after it stops and after 2-3 mins it starts of its own, even without pressing the clutch or anything. No accelerator, no clutch pressed but just starts...

This was shown to Technician who took test drive of my car and he intiallly said its not possible but then observed the same, ANYONE COMMENTS OR HELP PLEASE

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: Technical Issues and Solutions

@Revfriendly, at the time of starting in the morning the rpm goes upto 1000 to 1200 some times 1500 after a couple of seconds rpm will settle down at 630, pls give a photo shot of your rpm guage. Rpm can not be adjusted. If any mechanical faults there that can be rectified but designed rpm can not be changed.

More weight on front tyre
The main difference between petrol and diesel swift braking parts is

Petrol swift
It uses a oneway hose connected to engine to support vacuum booster. Swift petrol has alternator that does the job of a typical alternator. 75amps capacity

Diesel swift
In diesel the vacuum is not generated by engine, instead
It uses a alternator Cum vacuum pump, that helps to create vacuum for the brake booster. 90amps capacity.

Usually service of vacuum pump costs 2k to 7k

In most cases it's purely aging of parts like disc, leakage in brake booster pipe, vacuum pump service that needs to be checked. Did compare your car with a equal age petrol car? Almost same kms driven?
