I had gone through and analysed your alignment report very clearly and my initial impression is that your car not pothole damaged. Instead of doing proper alignment they actually messed it up. You are a tech guy so i need to explain you with valid proofs and information. Give me sometime because that involves lots of write-up.

Rats used to eat my headlight wirings and I used to spend 200rs per week to just get them repaired.
I tried too many options from net like Naphthalene balls, Tobacco, etc. but nothing worked for me.
Then the mechanic told me to use the "Bottle Cleaning Brushes"(attached pic [:)]). He said Rats come and like to stay or eat wires/outside food, but if we keep these brushes at vacant places (where the rat can halt), these brushes will irritate them and also he cant fight them as they can't eat them. Didn't believe initially but put 5-6 of these near engine, headlamps wiring, etc. and volllaaaa, no rats after that!!!!
Just in case if someone wants to try [glasses]

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

I went to MASS at Hinjewadi, Pune to show problem related to car stopping (shutting down) after first gear. The guy at service station drove the car for 3-4KM and told that there is no problem. However he mentioned that, few baleno owners have already told that they are also facing same issue. He told that this is happening as initial RPM for baleno is 650 whereas its 900 for Alto. Due to this Alto wont shut down for small/big slopes if we start the car and tried to drove it without acceleration. For Baleno, you have to press accelerator for car movement if car is stopped in patholes or at speed breaker.

However he told that he will change some settings. He did something with clutch and told that he has reduced the clutch (Sir, maine apka clutch kum kiya hai)... God knows what was that. I didn't feel any difference. I will go again if I face any problem.

Just a question, can PLAY (initial movement without acceleration) be increased by doing some setting?

Clutch play can be increased by adjusting a nut in the engine compartment. So the clutch starts engaging higher up in the pedal travel

That issue of car stalling in 1st gear is very common in the Baleno. Too low an engine rpm is to blame. I reported at 1st service and since then its reduced a lot. Shows that Maruti is aware and making minor adjustments without telling us

I am really frustrated with my baleno engine frequently stalling in first gear. It has been giving me embarrassing moments in traffic. It seems like it has worsened after first service. If I take it to MASS will they correct it? Will they charge for it?

They will correct it for sure sirji and they won't charge a penny for that. Till then you can develop a habit of holding the first gear at the biting point of the clutch with slight throttle input (say 1200 rpm), this won't let the engine stall.

I think the same could be fixed with a ICU software update. ie. increasing the idle rpm. I could be wrong here, but it seems logical. But I don't know if Maruti would ever do that as they live/die for 'fuel efficiency'. Otherwise you could give some accelerator input to move the car just like we do in slopes. Do understand petrol engines have a poor low end torque.

I was just thinking what would have been the fuel efficiency (ARAI) of Baleno, if Maruti had followed their fuel efficiency mantra 'skinny tyres'. Would they be able to breach 30km/l limit?!!

The front right tyre (Apollo Alnac 4G) of my Baleno strangely got punctured 4 days back. It has got a weird sidewall cut and lost the air pressure immediately. Fortunately I was not in traffic and the car was at a very slow speed. May be it was a mischief done by some psycho guy or a manufacturing defect. MASS told me to contact apollo directly. I called apollo and they said their service inspector will call me within 48 hours and will visit for inspection. It has already been 4 days but I haven't received any call from them. I call their cust. care and said the delay was because of weekend and I should wait till Wednesday. Do you guys think they will replace the tyre? If not is it repairable? One more think, do I need to register all the tyres for warranty separately with apollo or are they already have it from Maruti?

Though you can avail warranty from Apollo, insist that the ASC replace the tyre for you. Tyre manufacturers offer them a strong warranty but you wont be entertained. Just tell the ASC they arent selling mobile phones.

Will add another issue. Not sure how many owners have noticed this. In traffic with headlights ON, the lights dim as you release clutch and then brighten back up. Initially i thought it was because i was using Phillips Xtremevision 55w bulbs instead of stock. So i got the relay kit (meant for 90/100 bulbs but still using 55w bulbs) fitted. The problem is less but still there. Never had this issue with the Swift. Based on the discussion i had with an Exide technician that had come to service my neighbors car, I think Maruti has used an underrated alternator. Can suryaputra confirm if the alteenator is the same as on the Swift?
