Wow the much awaited Fuel pump and the ignition coil. Thanks a lot shashi for the shopping.
Guys, there is absolutely NO issue with any of these components, just replacing them for peace of mind as these two components are still the original one which came in the car from the factory. (That signifies the quality of the parts used) Since these two parts are prone to failure in old 800s so we thought why not to be sure about each and every parts.
I am very much eager for the long trip planned towards the end of the month. Can't wait to drive her. [:D]

Hi guys,
Reached home on 23rd and dad came to pick me up in the 800.

Initial Experience with the GB-As soon as I slotted the first gear, it felt as if it's a brand new car. No nonsensical vibration or noise. Humming noise? What's that now [:D]

In my 5 kms journey from station to home, I felt that every penny and all the efforts we have put in this car is worth it.
The new gearbox is just awesome. No humming noise in any gear, no noise while shifting gears. Gear shift action feels much more precise now and above all, no loss of gear oil even after 1000 kms or no boiling of gear oil, which was an issue with the previous unit.

I am very much satisfied with the gear box. Hats off to Shashi for searching, and getting the work done in front of him.

Road Trip Update-With this optimism in my mind, I took my car to a 900 km trip, to test the car and spend some quality time too.

Started at 12:30PM, and reached the destination at 6:30PM, with just one break.
Roads were pretty good, did some triple digit speeds too, only when roads were empty. Else maintained a steady speed of 80-90 kmph. The car was pulling effortlessly with load of 4 passengers and their luggage.
The absence of air-conditioner did make it's presence felt, but we were so excited about the trip in my 800, that we didn't feel the heat. [lol]

Car performed really great, and we got a mileage of 18.5 kmpl for the entire trip. It feels so satisfying, when all the hard work ultimately pays off...[clap]

Gear Oil change-Came back from the trip and met Shashi the very next day. Then we both went to our MASS, to get the gear oil changed and some general checkup. Also we thanked our SAs.

We changed the gear oil as a precautionary measure, as it was advised by the SA to change it in 1k kms, so that the GB gets flushed once.
The new GB oil was Castrol 80W90 grade.

Also we changed the clutch and brake pedal rubber pad as they had deteriorated with age along with the accelerator pedal, as it was looking odd with new brake and clutch pedal pads.

We also changed the petrol inlet cap as the gasket had lived it's life.

Washed and waxed the car and now I am happy and satisfied with the performance of my car. I am sure Shashi too is satisfied.

I am sure Shashi too is satisfied.
Yes bro. I am also satisfied with the entire work. Call it my bad habit, but I am very very nit picky about cars, and its hard to satisfy me. I gave the go ahead for the GB only after an extensive trial. [:)]

Where was the destination?
The trip was Ranchi-Patna- Ranchi-Jamshedpur-Ranchi

Awesome bro. Very rare find. Thanks a lot.
Guys, if any of you are not having this part in your 800, Please do get it. It is an important part.
This plate sits behind the radiator grille. Its job is to protect spark plugs from water during rains and high pressure water wash.
Thanks for the superb explanation Sumit. To add to the above info, I would like to state that this plate is strictly required only for F8B powered 800s which have their spark plug points in front of the engine.

It is not a must have part for 5 speed cars.

Rendezvous with the White Swan and the Golden Goose

After more than a month of separation, I was dying to see my babies. Today was the lucky day when I came back from my college for a vacation. The white swan was dusty because of the rwater scarcity of our locality, yet it was energetic as ever!!

Took her for a quick wash, followed by a meeting with swiftshashi and his golden goose. After a quick photoshoot, we installed a few things which he had sourced for me. Taking my white swan to our trusted MASS for some minor jobs tomorrow like distributor overhaul, fuel pump and filter change etc. So the updates will keep flowing. Till then, enjoy the pics. [:D]

1. Quick wash

White Swan gets equipped to take the fight to the High beams [clap] [:D]

Swiftshashi helped me to source the D/N irvms for my Maruti 800. I got it installed yesterday, along with a few other minor jobs.

The screws were badly stuck. However my SA ensured it was removed without any issues. They struggled for almost half an hour.
