Yes. The original shade was Cairo Dust. It was then repainted to Metallic Henna Green in 1999 or 2000. Then the previous owner shoddily repainted it to white. And after getting the car back, Sumit got it properly painted to White. :-)
The pattern is similar to my Omni.It was repainted into metallic pitch in 2000 or 2001.and we got it repainted into Neptune blue later.

shrijit303, yes we have changed the color twice. We did a complete dent paint of the car in 1999, when it had clocked 2 lakh kms. The engine was rebored then, GB overhaul, new tyres etc and color change to Metallic Heena green. Then when it was sold, it was painted to white by the ex owner, and as you can see in the initial pics, it was done badly and so rust all around.
So, i fot it painted to White. We do have the plan to repaint it in original cairo dust shade, but this time it will be Metallic cairo Dust. [;)] But this will be done after 2-2.5 yrs, once i get a good job.

He shade you are looking for is called Metallic Crystal Gold.

OT-Kindly refrain from asking such questions on specific personal car threads. We do have a dedicated M800 query threads, where you are likely to get more views, and thus better answers.

Thanks

Finally a big update. We got rid of the humming noise of the gear box. We swapped the gear box from a total loss 2012 T3 800. That car had major damages on right hand side, and upon verification with my SAs, it was declared that the GB is fit for use.
Many many thanks to shashi for hunting the GB as well as getting the work done in my absence. This is called petrol head brotherhood. [clap]
The car is finally noise free at speeds of even 100-110 Kmph. Only thing you can hear when you roll up the windows is the engine.
Big relief for me, as earlier whenever i drove on 4th gear for more than 50 kms, i got headache. [lol]
Since the engine and GB came out of the car, the painter in the workshop searched for all the areas which developed surface rust, sanded them and again re painted all the areas.
The GB mount was fairly new and in good condition, so we didn't change it. We changed the engine rear mount. All the oil seals of the new GB were changed and the old GB was cleaned with diesel. Also, the clutch plate, pressure plate, flywheel, release bearing were checked.
It was a gamble for us, because until the GB was installed in the car, there was no way to judge the condition of the GB. Once the GB was installed, shashi took the car for TD without bumpers, HL, grille. [lol]
He took an extended TD of about 30 Km and declared the GB fit. Once he came back from TD, the gear kit was changed (bushes on the gear shifter rod and the lever) to fix the play in the lever.
The gears now slotted very smoothly and without any abnormal noise.
The drive is much more relaxed and soothing now. I missed the organ transplant of my love, still i was relaxed because of the fact that there was someone who will take care of her as his own car. I haven't driven the car, so i request shashi to elaborate on the drive.
Thanks a lot buddy.
And, for a change, we also changed the front indicator lenses.

It was my pleasure to be present during this organ transplant-gave me an opportunity to learn about the internals of the engine and gearbox.

It was truly a test of patience for both of us, as this GB swap was a big gamble, and slightest of mistakes could mean that our money was looking down the drain. Luckily we managed just fine.

Coming to the drive, there is absolutely no whine from the gearbox at all speeds and RPMs. The shift action has also improved by leaps and bounds, and it shifts with a nicely defined click.

Though, it took an entire day for the installation, which left me badly exhausted, I still carried on imagining the pleasure Sumit will get once he drives his car.

Regards

Nice to see your 800 back in action.swiftshashi, you have done a great job by finding the 4 GB.With a new GB,you are gonna have great joy and fun to drive the white swan. The new indicator lenses look awesome in white Swan.I have two doubts,
1)Can a type 3 Omni GB swap can be done in my Omni?
2)Will type 3 indicator lenses look good on a type 1 Omni?
Thanks for the same.

Thanks shahsi and shrijit.
1)Can a type 3 Omni GB swap can be done in my Omni?
AFAIK, there is no difference in the gear box of omni t1, 2 and 3. So it should be a direct fit just like 800. But one question- Why do you want to change it?; Any abnormal noise?
See, gear boxes normally don't go bad for lakhs and lakhs of kilometers if it hasn't run low on oil. or worst case, without oil.
Some symptoms of gear box failure are- Whinning or humming noise at a particular gear, clunking noise as you change gears, shifting becomes too hard, If it's too bad, it will have two more symptoms which i also faced in the last days- My gear oil detoriated in less than 4k kms. As you can see above in the pic, that slush in the container is my 3k kms old gear oil. Yes 3k.
Other one is that sometimes when you drive for an extended period at high speeds, gear oil will get heated up and comes out from the breather pipe, because it expands.
If, you aren't facing any issue, please dont swap untill you are not sure of the exact condition.
In MGP, new 4 speed gear box assy for 800 costs Rs 32486, so it should be similar for Omnis.

2)Will type 3 indicator lenses look good on a type 1 Omni?
It is a straight fit. It doesn't costs much, so its better to buy a pair of lenses and then fix and see the results. However i think it will look nice.

Sometimes you gotta run, before you can walk [;)]

White Swan is expected to embark upon a new life of trust and reliability. Long gone are the days of her bed rest, and now, its time for some action. A long drive of about 800 kms is planned for the Swan this month. [clap]

Hence, replacing some components which are still original, ie 24 years old, just to be sure.

MGP Shopping time for the White Swan.
