Hyundai is notorious for such tactics. What happens to the old bumpers? From my past experience they usually return the old parts to the customer. I've sold the brake rotors and brake cylinder to scrap dealers earlier when i had Santro. Not sure what they do with bumpers. They should have an option to sell it to scrap vendor and recover some of the cost.
Yes, I knew. That's why I specifically told them to call me before taking any decisions. But those idiots have the audacity to do the work on my car without my concern! They had the old bumper in their workshop and from what I gathered, they will sell it to scrap dealers. Moreover, I don't want to carry around that broken bumper in my boot until I sell it off!

Whatever, I'm not going to go that A.S.S never again. Only good thing out of this ordeal was, they fixed my brake juddering issues. Which I reported to them post 2nd service. But looking back, it was their fault in the first place. Only after the 2nd service, I started facing this issue. So it's like they created the issue and now they fixed it!

It sucks to own a car in India!

So a strange thing happened to my Xcent today. I had washed the car yesterday. When I tried to start the car to go to office, it wont start. Its only been 7 months since the purchase. I called the service guy. He came and tried to start the engine. He kept on cranking with full throttle and after several tries it started and ran fine. The reason he gave was the fuel-air mix was too rich. There was less air so it was not starting. Have you ever came across such an issue?

I thought on-road assistance was free during warranty, but he charged Rs400. and said its only applicable if we call hyundai directly and not the dealer.

@aramosfet - if the fuel-air mixture was too rich [as per the service guy], then you must be getting a low mileage. What was the mileage you were getting.

Also did he give any explanation as to how the fuel-air mixture setting has become non-optimal.

I get around 14-16 mileage in city and around 18+ on highways. He didn't give any clear possible reasons why this could have happened. Only thing I can think of at the moment is I started the car for a min yesterday and didn't allow it to reach operating temperature as i had just move the car. usually the ratio is higher during cold start. This probably could have let more fuel in the engine.

14-16 in city is better than what friends who own Grand I10 or Xcent are getting [about 10-13 kmpl in city]. So the fuel injectors must be working fine and you must be driving very well.

I also crank my Wagon R and start driving but luckily this problem has not occured. So I doubt if this could be the reason.

I never had such issue, but IIRC, I have read the same thing. It also happened during Washing. Maybe there is some connection between washing. Once during wash, tiny droplet of water entered the ECU and my electricals were gone mad. I left the car out in Sun and in 5 mins, it became normal. Maybe, just maybe, this can be one of the reason.

I did once few drops of water just next to the ECU after a wash few months back, But didn't have any issues at that time. But I seriously doubt this can cause it. People drive in lashing rains without any trouble. Anyways will drive for few more days and see if the issue resurfaces.

Hi guys I am in love with the boot spoiler which comes with the new Xcent. I spoke to one of SA in Chennai and he said I cannot get it for sale.. Did anyone had a chance to check it with your SA? I want to fix that in my Xcent.

furious_driver and aramosfet, just went through the above posts which you guys posted. Last week even I had the same issue and it was after washing the car. It didn't start when I tried to, I turned off took the key out, then turned on. I was able to start the car and initial moments I felt to be kind of sluggish I had to press the throttle hard. Now it is fine, btw this issue occurred when was car was in hot Chennai sun for arnd 2 hrs after washing. I am feared now that I shld nt get this issue when I am driving out of station :(

Was the engine cranking but not starting? In my case, it was cranking but not starting, and after trying the start the engine while accelerator press all the way it started. Pressing the accelerator tells the ECU to stop fuel injection and allow air so the fuel-air ratio is improved. At the end I could smell petrol and some petrol at the tailpipe also. But based on my searches online, I don't see water in the engine compartment causing it.
Thanks

Inspired by Prabhagar's post related to coasting-save-fuel, took time to check the fuel log while coasting. So my office commute takes and average of 12 km/s and I get to touch 5th gear very frequently since I go around 9. So I thought I can give it a try! Man, the results were impressive! Just a snap for your view.

Uploaded both screenshot and actual csv file. It looks like Xcent does cut off fuel injectors completely when coasting in gear. The driving pattern is my usual pattern since I don't want to do differently just for sake of this.

If you look at the csv, it is very clear that it cuts off the moment I start coasting! Yay!
