They will use what Hyundai suggests, but if you insist they can use your preferred oil! BTW Which one you plan to use?
Hi, I don't think i'll opt to pick one myself, as I really don't have the experience or knowledge in that. I just wanted to know, Which are the Oils which are better than what HSS provides and if there are real benefits of using them.

Depends. As I didn't had time to dig deeper, I said, next time. But if you have, just go through service manuals, garage to see what oil they use. Try compare it online to see which one is rated high. Then do your research and go for it.!

@bhvm :

Nice to know that you aren't driving in rash manner. Anyways, Insurance is finalized and planned to go with Chola MS itself. 11.5k. Should I stick with Chola MS or go for new one?

So, finally got the insurance, from the same vendor, Chola MS. It costed me INR 11,500 with an IDV of 4.75L! Previous year IDV was 5L! Planning to buy Engine Cover and NCB Protection after couple of months!

So finally crossed the 20k mark. ODO stands at 20007 kms. In city FE improved post 3rd service. Last FE check - 13.2 km/l. Impressive, considering I used to get 12!

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View (3rd Service Update @ Pg.13

So it's been 2 years and 2 weeks since I got my car. So I thought I can write about the car, like a summary.

It became my daily drive these days. The more and more I drive this car, the more and more I find every day. Not lot of issues and not any major work or changes. FE always hovered around 12-14 in city and 16-18 in Highways. Lately, I feel the engine sounds bit harsh and NVH has gone up high. May be it's because I drove Cruze/XUV for a long time, and that was the reason? I don't know!

Regarding the drive, after driving lots of cars over these past 2 years, it started to feel boring! Xcent is no more my favourite choice to drive around. Even my Alto feels more fun. But apart from that FTD factor, Xcent is always my choice to roam around the city. Mainly because the steering is super light and super easy to drive around the city in B2B traffic. A/C is a good one. And those niceties which I used to enjoy, well, I still enjoy them. Without BT it is super tough for me!

So, even after 2 years, I still adore my car and leaving aside few issues which I mentioned, it is still a possession for me. I tried to replace it with Corolla/City/Verna, but all plans were down the drain for some reasons. Which I feel like, is the universe's way of telling me to keep the car with me for few more years, and I will for sure. And I still keep looking at my car, after parking, every day. This car, means a lot to me and I guess that is why it is hard to get rid of it.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View (3rd Service Update @ Pg.13

So guys, today, I had to leave my office only around 11 and that gave me an opportunity to test my ride with high rpm bust! I never took my car above 3.5k rpm (except very rare moments or over-taking). So I decided to revv my Xcent and throughout my 10km trip to my home, I planned to keep it in boil. And boy! A petrol car is a petrol car. Nothing can beat it. 2nd gear goes all the way up to 70 km/h and 3rd goes all the way up to 90 km/h! And that growl of the engine was just awesome. I pushed it around 5k+ rpm and it sounds sweet.

I never experienced this is my car and I'm loving it. And the difference when I turn off A/C was huge. With A/C, when I try to push, it moves like Virat Kohli. Slow and steady and goes to top speed. But without A/C, it was like Sehwag. Bam! It pulls like mad man. The only other petrol car of which I drove, I experienced it only on Z-Type City which my colleague owned and this comes somewhat closer.

Now I have one more reason to be happy and keep this car. It was just a few hours before I wrote that even my Alto was fun driving. But Xcent proved it wrong and that was amazing. I'm still grinning, even 30 minutes later I reached home.

You haven't pushed it sir else third would have taken you near to 120 kph or maybe past it. I must agree that this is what makes the petrol cars special.

Hit the redline once, in fact shift up only after you hit the 6500 rpm point and the engine/exhaust note as well as the manic performance will madden you.

I must agree, on these 1.2l engines; the AC turning ON or OFF makes a huge difference, in the mid of an overtake; just once press the AC button to OFF and car starts pulling with an entirely different type of urgency.

Time to change your driving habits FD; it is good to hit redline at times, that increases your love for the car.

FD, this is the Same experience as I had with my i10 1.1L.
Coming from Diesels (Ride the torque), I was upshifing at about 2~2.2k RPM. Performance was piss poor.
After suggestion of Few TAI seniors, I started upshifting at 3~3.5k RPM. I also take it occasionally to 4.5k RPM.

And BAM! Car totally transformed.

Dude, it was a miracle that I touch 80 within City limits. Forget about 100+! No way I'm gonna do it inside city, even if the roads are completely deserted. But I will touch 100+ in City limits, during Zombie Apocalypse.

Jokes apart, since it was close to midnight I was too cautious and didn't wanna push beyond 80-90. Will try that next time I hit a deserted highway.

Yes. I always thought the handling was a downer in this car, but this made up for that.

I always knew turning of A/C will be better, but this time, it was like brutal. The difference was day and night. With A/C, the pace the speed picks up was like a deer, consistent, but without A/C, it suddenly turned out to be a Cheetah!

You bet I do. I'm gonna do it very often.

Can't believe how much fun we can have with this tiny engines. My next target, reach the redline. Before this event, I always praise SX4 for its sheer eagerness in pulling the car. Diesel is Torquey. But no diesel ever sounded good for my ears(I'm not talking about Big-3 germans or any big brands!!)!

OT:
Here we are discussing how an Xcent goes when AC is switched OFF. Look at the way this dump truck goes and this isn't a car - this is a TRUCK!!

And trucks aren't expected to go that fast. I guess it is accelerating faster as well as going quicker than most of the cars we have in the south of 10 lac.

Even I upshift early, between 2-2.2K rpm. I have occasionally taken it to 3.5K rpm and one can slightly feel the push back into the seats. I wonder how this type of driving affects the FE. But certainly feels good to do once in a while.

FE goes for a toss, but you shouldn't care much if you are upshifting at high rpm occasionally, but be warned - it can get addictive. As long as it doesn't become a habit, it is okay
