1. Yes, Xcent doesn't have the sound for Lock/unlock, but it does sound the Alarm while theft ! Open the Windows and lock the car, then try to unlock the doors from Inside. Alarm will be raised.
2. I got my Cover/Floor Mats from dealer itself. But they are available in wide range online on ebay/flipkart/amazon/jazzmyride, etc.
@swadesh, i tried to open the door from inside when the door is locked with remove. but it didn't give any alarm. I forgot locking the car, expected it to auto lock. but it didn't happen. Should see what to be done. Will try to test the door open thing once again and let you know.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

Hey Guys,

Am back from a long Holiday, was on Christmas and New Year Vacation. As you guys know I've got Xcent SX VTVT. Delivery was taken on 21st December at Advaith Bangalore. Vacation started on 22nd Dec.

Drove to Native for 420 kms on 22nd Dec. Didn't find any issues. Drove between 80-100 kmph, and RPM always maintained below 2500. Calculated the Mileage, tank full to tank full method, and monitoring the same on fuel log android app, it says 19.21kmpl. (2 people and little luggage on board)

Next drive was to my in-laws place, not a four-lane highway. its more state highway, and drive was through ghat section for around 60 kms, drive for 518kms mileage of 15.78kmpl [cry] (same tankfull to tankfull method) (4 people and Luggage)

Next drive was back to native, after Christmas, drive another 571 kms, 300 kms was night drive, and didnt want to spend more time driving in the night, so didnt maintain the 80-100 speed or rpm this time. mileage this time is 16.83kmpl. (4 people + 1 kid and max luggage)

First Servicing done on 02 Jan, ODO was ~1400 KMS.

Over all experience with the car is good. Enjoyed the drive. We've carried a lot of luggage. Thanks to the 400L boot. Drive was very smooth.

During this period, added somethings to my car.
-Skoda horn (Rs. 700)
-Full floor matting (Rs 1700)
-door protection (Ipop door guard) (Rs 300)

Will post the pics of the floor matting some time.

Need to get the below things soon..
-Rear speakers
-full body cover
-foot mats (Carpet or rubber)
-Door lock alarm (1st priority)
-Seat Covers

Xcent doesn't have the car lock unlock alarm. I should every time see the car for the lights, when lock and unlock is done. I enquired for the kit, the car decor guy says its Rs 2800 (autocop), should check in Bangalore. The car doesn't sound when we open with the key, instead of the remote, am think there is not anti theft feature for this.

Any one got this anti theft kit fixed to xcent? Kindly suggest me one..

And I need suggestions to buy the Body Cover and floor mats ( I like carpet ones, Beige colored) online.

Hi Brock,
Nice to hear about your trip. I have also have the same doubt for alarm.
The after market shops will have different remote to used, that is the main challenge here. we cant operate the car without the folding key. Mine is Xcent S option which now SX. In this case we need folding ket and aftermarket remote if we install it.

Basically it is a chip to be installed and they will remove oem chip. Tuk tuk sound will also be thr while locking and unlocking :)

Can u post the freebies which you got it from the dealer ?

Hi, It does gets Auto Locked, but takes some time. First the cabin lights will go dim and then after few minutes, it will get locked. Mine behaves this way. Also, couple of days ago, me and my Wife were in Market and I got out and locked the car with Remote, while my wife was still inside ( taking care of her Hairs apparently ! Lol :). when she opened the Gate from Inside, Alarm started ringing. SO i knew that it works :)

@swadesh,

Thanks for the info, will try locking my wife inside and check LOL..

@Manoj Xcent
I've checked with one of the car decors, the showed me a kit, a tiny black box (size of a wallet), alarm buzzer and couple of wires. the wires go thru all the doors locking, and then to the black box. Black box is the unit that controls the locking and alarm part of it. I asked him, if we have to use another remote etc... but it works with the OEM remote. No need to have another remote.
And Manoj, will try to get the pics of the freebies soon. just back from a long vacation, trying to settle things and getting myself out of the vacation mood.. [;)]

Guys, it would be nice if you discuss this in Grand i10/Xcent thread. I would like to help you there, but not in my ownership thread.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

Xcent crossed 17k mark! FE stays at consistent 12 in city! No highway trips in last few months. By the way, I started hearing faint rattles, but I'm not sure if these are rattles or any objects vibrating on the move and making this noise. So this weekend, I'm gonna clean my car interiors and remove all objects so I can be sure about the rattles! The rattle is nothing alarming, but I absolutely hate them. Fingers crossed!

And once again, I got rear ended last weekend. It was sunday, and I was going for shopping. So I was waiting at signal, and just a second after the light turns green, I heard a loud thud! I was like WTF! The Mahindra pick up guy behind me decided to move ahead even though I've a couple of vehicles ahead of me. I parked on the side, went to check up on damage thinking of big dent in my bumper. But by luck, nothing big. Just a couple of visible scratches. His plastic front bumper helped in this case I guess.

But before I stopped him to talk about this, he was about to escape saying "It's just small scratch brother. Leave it!". I stopped him, told him to wait for a min, and said the exact words. "It is up to me to decided whether to leave it or not. Because it's my car. Will you do the same if a lorry rear ended you and nudged your rear bumper?". And this guy said, "Ok brother, leave it. Why you are making such a big issue?". And this is my last word to him, before he stopped saying anything. "If you want me to stop talking, pay me up for the damages. I will not say another word. But can you? DO you know how much it takes to touch up to make these go away! Does 3000 sounds cheap to you? If so, then pay me up and I won't say anything to you. If you can't, listen to me. Drive like a man, not like some mad man! Just think what would have happen if damage is high. If you are not even able to pay 2-3k, how will you deal in such situation. It is better to be late and safe, that hurry and dead. So, leave now!"

This guy looked at me in baffled way and left. And I left to where I was supposed to!

Sorry to hear that furious_driver. Unfortunately there's very little we can do to avoid such situations in India. Glad to know the damage was minimal.
Congrats on the 17k milestone. I've just crossed 2K this week in about 2.5 months of ownership. I get atleast 18+Kmpl in highways with full AC and 15+ kmpl in city without AC. I drive ~20kms a day to/fro office in moderate traffic. Not sure why you get only 12kmpl. Do you always drive with AC on?

Hey Furious Driver.. Sorry about that.. In our country we are prone for bumper scratches and damages :(
Yes, but before even I had a chance to put the gear in 1st, he bumped into me! I mean, what was he thinking? Anyways, the damage was minor, so all I can do is leave it!

15+? Do you own a petrol or diesel? If petrol, that means you have less traffic I guess. For me, there are couple of factors contributing to such poor mileage.
1. Traffic(Explained below!)
2. Mood(I like to push the car when the roads are deserted!)

BTW my total commute distance is 23km to & fro, but it consists of lots of twists and turns, with medium traffic which means I hardly move from 3rd gear. Throughout my commute, I maintain my speed of 30-40 with 3rd gear or in 2nd gear, in case if I have to overtake!

So I guess, these are the cause for such mileage. But hey, after all this, I'm getting 12+ and I'm happy about it.

Mine is petrol, 9km to office on the Ring road and traffic is not very heavy. Only while entering and exiting the tech park there will be a slow down and doesn't take more than 5-10 mins. Also, I drive very sedately and always keep the engine below 2k rpm. If the road is empty then accelerate to 2.5K rpm and then upshift. I also fill up only at Shell. May be that also helps. Will try HP/BP and see if it makes any difference.

Unfortunately, where I stay, there are no Shell fuel stations nearby and I regularly fill up at HP bunk on my way to office! And I cross that 2.5k rpm mark very often. Anyways lets see if the sedate drive with non-Shell fuel gives same mileage.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

UPDATE : Went for a weekend trip!!!! And here is the update. [:D]

So I worked late last Thursday so I had to wake up late than usual. So, I was reminding myself that I have to go visit my parent next week(this weekend!) and all of a sudden I thought, why not this weekend? Why not today? I informed my wife and she was surprised. Time was already past 9.30am. So we get ready and started our journey by 12.30 pm. Meanwhile called up my colleague to inform him the same. Even he was surprised!! Man this was the quickest trip decision I've ever made! I've filled up petrol for 1000(later for another 1000) bucks the previous day so I didn't feel the need to fill up again! so after un-eventful 200 km drive, we reached our destination by 5pm. I've maintained steady 70-80 km/h throughout the SH and on the last 60 kms 4 lane road, I've reached 90-95. Nothing more!! Cornered at speeds of 50 km and I can feel the body roll. So thought of going the usual way, reduce it down to 40 km which is safe for me as well as my wife and kid(Moment he enters the car, he sleeps! It happened in all my long drives!! So I don't want to wake him up).

Regarding the car, so once again I feel like NVH has gone up, especially the tyre noise is unbearable. In DGL-MDU highways, few strech has been scrapped for re-laying new road and at such patches, road noise gets doubled. I probably need to change tyres, I think so.

Overall a nice trip :
Total kms : 496 kms
Fuel Consumed : 28 lts
FE : 17.xx
ODO Reading : 17239 kms

I think FE is a lot better, considering that first close to 60(up and down)kms are driven in painful slow moving traffic!

Good to hear, Yes even I find the tyre noise to be high. Which tyres do you have? Mine are stock Apollo amazer 3G.
I had Michelin XM2 for my Santro earlier and Bridgestone B250 before that.
The difference between Bridgestone and Michelin was simply unbelievable. Michelins we incredibly smooth. The current Apollo tyres seem to be worse than Bridgestone.

Mine is the same, Apollo Amazer 3G!! It stinks man, but since I've covered only 17k km/s I don't want to change tyre so soon! If only I had some amount in hand, I'd have happily gone for either Michelin or some Pirelli one's with soft compound!
