Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

exactly i noted the same on my vtvt drive it hard and it gives good economy
Hehehe thats really strange, even mine is vtvt, now I am wondering whats happening with diesel mill owners.
Tried it again for a 10KM stretch with slow and easy acceleration with all gears and MID came down to 12.8.
Did another 10KM but a little harder and the magic happens MID is at 14.1[gun] Will report the actual fuel economy soon but it definitely is going to be better than my first fueling which returned between 11-12 all driven inside city.
Btw do you know what is the reserve tank capacity for our cars?

P.S : I guess I also need to learn that hypnotherapy from you. Nice signature [;)]

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

I will give it a try after some KM's as mine has not even touched 500KM's yet.
Its as if there is a turbo and when driven in the turbo band the excellent F.E [roll]

How's the mileage of the car?
Do you know Hyundai Motors misleads and cheats its customers? Hyundai Motors overstates their fuel economy. I would have never believed it myself and then I read this : Hyundai Overstated Fuel-Economy Claims - WSJ.com

Please do not buy Hyundai cars.

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Hehehe. I did same with 2 of our two wheelers as well as with swift and the result is better pickup and smoothness than my friends vehicles with a little lower F.E.
My father and I was learning on swift so it had touched that red line n number of times :lol!: Its a different story that we had to change clutch plate within its first year due to clutch riding.[lol]

Dear rajat.
Its not only Hyundai but almost every manufacturer overstates their products in a way or other.
I believe there is no single department like ARAI in US who tests the vehicles for fuel economy. So the Hyundai india's claimed figure [Actually ARAI's claimed] is somewhat accurate for us +-2/4 as is the case with every vehicle sold in our country.

How the companies test the cars will never be close to when we drive the car, traffic frequent gear changes, stops idling, passenger count, amount of acceleration, clutch riding, engine timing and health, tire inflation etc will all directly or indirectly hamper fe.
For me i switched to synthetic engine oil and got good fes post that.

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Hi All,

i got white fludic verna 1.6 sx crdi as a gift, a month back.

Please provide me advise for nice maintenance, especially in initial days.

I m from Chennai. i am NOT comfortable with Horn, Lights and Steering wheel. Steering is thin and smooth.

Dash board looks like dusty even after giving it a nice wipe.

Do i need teflon coating, Anti-rusting coating?

Is there any restrictions in reaching High speed mark,as i was advided not to reach above 100 -120 kmph?

the water i use to clean is hard(salt) water.(our kitchen vessels used to rust, if it is un attended)

PLease suggest good material, good shops for seat covers in Chennai.

Please suggest me some nice threads for this car.

This's my first car and this my first post.

I am not able to open a new thread, plz guide me in this too.

Cheers,

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Hi
Anti rust is must.
Get a nice steering cover, thin steering feel will be gone.
Dashboard feel is awesome, dnt know why you feel otherwise. It is called anti skid dashboard. One of the best in the segment.
And I have a 1.6 fiesel, no issues faced with high speed. Though I mostly drive around 110, some of my friends habe driven at 150+ as well without any complaints.
Advices take tegular care of this beautiful beast. I myself is happy customer with 30000 kms.
Regarding horn, try horn with your windows open, it will give you assuring feeling. It is sound insulation quality that horn sounds very light inside cabin.

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Hi kamalinvisiri,
I am not a AUTO expert, but having used my 4th car I will try answer some of you questions-
i am NOT comfortable with Horn, Lights and Steering wheel. Steering is thin and smooth.
ANS:HORN IS OK, IT IS MORE OF A PERSONAL CHOICE, BUT I DO AGREE ON LIGHTS, IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE, TRY 90w BULB, CERTAINLY YOU WILL FEEL DIFFERENCE. SMOOTHNESS AND EASY HANDLING OF STERRING WHEEL IS USP OF VERNA, I AM NOT SURE WHY YOU WANT STEERING LIKE "BULERO".

Dash board looks like dusty even after giving it a nice wipe.
ANS: USE LINT FREE CLOTH FOR WIPING.

Do i need teflon coating, Anti-rusting coating?
ANS: THE MOMENT YOU ARE OUT OF SHOWROOM WITH YOUR KEYS, YOUR CAR IS READY TO GO ON THE ROAD. CAR IS WELL PROTECTED, HOWEVER TEFLON COATING AND ANTIRUST COATING IS PREVENTATIVE ACTIONS. UNTIL THE PAINT SURFACE IS INTACT, THERE IS NO CHANCE OF RUSTING. ITS YOUR CHOICE.

Is there any restrictions in reaching High speed mark,as i was advided not to reach above 100 -120 kmph?
ANS:NO RESTRICTION TO MY KNOWLEDGE, IT IS MORE OF A PRECAUTION TO GIVE SOME TIME FOR DRIVER TO LEARN THE BEHAVIOUR OF CAR. THIS CAR IS VERY POWERFUL. ALSO SLOWER SPEED WILL SAVE YOU IN CASE OF ANY MISHAP DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

the water i use to clean is hard(salt) water.(our kitchen vessels used to rust, if it is un attended)
ANS: USE GOOD QUALITY OF WATER AND SHAMPOO, OTHERWISE SHINE AND COLOR START FADING. RUSTY WATER IS COMPLETING NOOOOO.

HOPE THIS HELP.

REGARDS,

SUNIL[:)]

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Got the car back today after replacing the Turbocharger
The hard gear shift issue still persist and AS doesn't have any clue about it
Need to drop the car again for 2 days at ASS to rectify it.
When i went to collect my car the car it was neatly washed and vaccumed which gave me a thought that sending emails to customer care does pays off [;)]

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

I got my Fluidic Verna - 1.6 VTVT SX(O), yesterday Dec 24 2013. I have been told that we have this option Speed Sensing Door lock - at about 15km/hr, the door locks itself. I have tried all speeds upto 80 km/hr. The door doesnt seem to autolock itself. I owned a Swift Zxi 2011 model, of which this feature worked when i passed 20km/hr speed.

Any Verna owners with the SX(O) package facing this issue?

Take it to the ASS.
Speed Lock can be activated only via the G-scan available at ASS.
Don't if the newer models has cut-off this feature [roll]

I wish they did not cut this feature off! Already with a lot of features cut, i feel am being ripped. for instance 6 to 2 airbags, the spare wheel being a steel one! But offcourse the Projector type light alone makes me happy.!

I am going to take it to the service station today to get it checked! Will let you know. Thanks for the heads up!
