Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Back again with another issue in my verna
This time there was oil deposit on the air inlet pipe just at the beginning of the turbocharger.the oil comes via the blow by pipe.
Took the car to ASS they have cleaned the area and asked me to wait so that they could arrange the necessary spare
I hope the issue I limited to PCV valve alone [cry]
Thats your turbo !
could be turbo seals
newer gen turbos have oil circulating in them. They can start pushing oil into the intake manifold andthat trouble the car to start up. You will see a blue smoke as if the rings are gone.
This affects the efficieny of the engine

General queries on gear etc./Verna

Guys, I recently learnt driving and bought a new car, it has been an awesome experience since then! :)

Driving lessons taught me basics, but after a month of experience, I have a couple of queries related to car’s performance, and in general. Would appreciate if someone could spare a few minutes. It’s a petrol Verna, but I think that’s irrelevant.

(1) There’s no vibration on gas pedal or breaks until engine's rev range is below 2k. However, beyond that I feel some vibration. In some sense, it works as a reminder for a gear shift. But, is this normal?

(2) Recently I have started to hearing a click noise as and when I start releasing the clutch. Also, at times the same noise comes while upshifting the gear. This is something I will get checked, but what could it be?

(3) What’s the best rev range for engine's performance? I read in the manual that initially (until 1000kms), it should be kept between 2-3k, and I always kept it around 2.2k. But the driving experience is better (because of the vibration) if I keep it in a higher gear and at a lower rev range (1.7-1.9k). Which one is better?

(4) I feel that gas pedal becomes very sensitive in lower (1 and 2) gears, any small release/press causes a jerk if I keep the clutch at the same level. I guess this could be due to my inexperience, but I found that if I don’t release the clutch completely (so that tyres and engine are not completely connected) then the gas pedal is less sensitive. Is that something OK to do for preventing jerks? Or it causes any harm to the clutch etc.?

Alan is your verna a petrol? The clutch click noise i have on my petrol variant and noticed on others new and old. I highlighted it to the senior people at thw dealership but after 3 attempts to adress it to hyundai it all went without any action.

Its the pressure plate noise you will only get it with the engine on.

Yes it's a petrol variant.

Hmm, that doesn't sound good. I am about to go for my first servicing, will try to highlight this.

Hyundai Fluidic Verna: Technical Issues and Solutions

Hello All,

I am creating this thread for owners of Hyundai Fluidic Verna to post technical issues of their Verna and can seek help from fellow TAIgers for solutions or suggestions.

To start with I have having an issue with my fluidic Verna CRDI 1.6 SX. I am marking from past few weeks, when I am reversing the car, a strange sound comes from the gearbox. This does not happens always. Sometime it comes when car is in reverse gear and about to move when release the clutch. I initially thought it could be the brake pads making the noise but soon realize that even when the car not moving (about to move), same noise comes. Car is done only 8300 KMs and I have maintained it very well. Not sure what could be the problem and as the sound doesn't come always, it's difficult for me to reproduce in front of ASS. The car is in warranty.

Please let me know if this happened to any other Verna.

Have you identified where the noises are coming from exacty ?

Have someone else sit in the car, shift to reverse and then you can go around trying to identify the source of the sound.

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Hi All

I have a 2011 Verna SX VTVT which has clocked 26k. I did regular/periodic maintenance/service last week and since yesterday, the car has developed a problem. When the RPM is in the range of 1200 and 1800, the car is giving slight jerk while moving - get a feeling as though the petrol is not flowing even though there is still two more bars left per the petrol gauge. Once the vehicle picks up speed (go to higher gear), it drives smooth.

Could it be issue with petrol flow or is there anything major. I will take this to the Hyundai service centre tomorrow for diagnosis but would be good to know if anyone else faced this problem before and what was the cause?

TIA

Does this happen more frequently in the 2nd gear ? If so then my verna petrol(21k kms) also does this. I really don't know the cause but don't think it's much of a problem. Happens sometimes. Either get the fuel injectors cleaned or on a road without vehicles , drive the car till 5-6k rpm to burn all the carbon deposits and you can also ask a mechanic to spray a throttle body spray which also removes carbon deposits.

Yes, it happens mostly in 2nd gear. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try this out tomorrow and post an update.

Re: Life with the All New Hyundai Verna

Did you try ? Any updates ?
Sorry I could not post an update earlier. Yes, I did try but no luck. I managed to get the RPM up to 5.5 and drove aggressively from Mysore to Bangalore and back. During the drive, the check engine light came on briefly couple of times and disappeared.

Finally, I took it to the dealer yesterday. During test drive, the check engine light again came on briefly. First the technician asked whether there are any rats where the car is parked to which I replied no. Then he checked couple of wires/connection and finally said the spark plugs may have gone bad. Luckily after they cleaned the spark plugs of some carbon deposit, the jerk is gone. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they will not charge for the service[:)]
