I got i20 magna petrol last month have driven it around 470kms. First impressions
1.) Car is best suited for city with light steering ( have never experienced i20 on highways so won't comment on that)
2.) Car had very very bad smell on the 10th day of ownership it was intolerable to sit inside, got her checked from Hyundai they cleaned the AC filter.
3.) From the first experience of the Hyundai Workshop visit i felt Ford was much much better ( let's see how both companies serve in long run)
4.) Audio system is good but is treble friendly.
5.) Ac is very effective
6.) for 1000rs petrol i managed to drive her 145Kms, FE is poor [lol]
That's all for now,
thanks

I love this color [:D] congrats on your car. About the fe , i get 10kmpl in summers in my verna so you should get atleast 12kmpl.
I drive in moderate traffic.
And always calculate mileage with tankful to tankful method. Partial fill up doesn't show the true figures.

SOS !!!!!

i guys. i got my car on may 3rd and it came with a red ribbon on the front hood. as all new cars do when getting delivered by dealerships. I got mine from Advaith Hyundai, Residency Road, Bangalore.

I wasn't in town after that so didn't take off the ribbon. this Sunday it rained and car got wet along with ribbon. and ribbon stuck to the front hood. now when i finally took the car out and took off the ribbon. THERE IS A RED LINE WHERE THE RIBBON WAS :(

I have attached the pic for the same. I tried rubbing it but it didn't come off. I dont wanna damage the paint.

Please suggest what can i do ? this is driving me crazy !

Hi All,

Did anyone notice a thud sound / feedback from the brake while harsh braking or braking on a downward slope ?

I have noticed it twice now !

does your car has abs? does the paddle pulsate or you get sound from the outside?

Yup, car has ABS. And the paddle gave feedback that i felt on my foot. Sort of like a pulsating kickback.! not very big though. just a little movement. but noticeable. I haven't had the feedback again since then though.
then there's no need to worry. that's the abs kicking in. it's normal when you brake hard.

yeah. I got a feeling that it would be. But i have driven other ABS enabled cars, never had that feedback. may be i was ignorant.

I tried to show it to hyundai guys but that phenomenon didn't present itself [frustration]

AN interesting thing the hyundai person told, in i20 abs only kicks in at higher speed, like 80 km/hr or so ! is that true ? it would be odd if true ! [confused]
I would need abs to kick in while driving on a curvy road at lower speeds too.

it can kick in speeds as low as 40kmph. and even I was confused when the abs kicked in for the first time in the verna.

and the main purpose of abs is that you can steer your car while braking in emergencies. and about the curvy roads, sometimes abs won't kick in just because it's not needed and the speed will be very low for the abs to get activated ie situations where wheels won't lock up. so don't worry it will get activated only when it's required.

Oh yeah. I totally agree with you on that. It should work when its suppose to irrespective of speeds.
I was just surprised when the hyundai fellow told me that.!!!

And has anyone taken the Petrol version of the car on a road trip ? Hows the experience.
I took mine for a spin last night and saw RPM climb upto 3500 in 5th gear for speed of about 110-ish ! felt like engine was getting a little stressed out.

Yes. Even though I own Xcent, but the engine is same 1.2L unit. So yes, to touch 100+, we need to cross ~3.5k mark and it surely does look stressed. But again, it will climb speeds till 140 before it runs out of breath. So I always stick to 90 km/h which put's rpm around 3k and increase speed when overtake. Else, you have to keep it in 110+ consistently and push till 140 to overtake! You have to learn to live with the limitation. [:D]
