@blood_velocity

I personally don't recommend i20 Petrol if you are frequent highway cruncher. Because it is sluggish and in highways, it tends to lose breath easily. Power-to-Weight ratio is not balanced for Petrol i20. But if you want space and comfort, this is the car to be in.

Steering weights up as speed increases.
How's the performance of your xcent on highways ? I searched on the internet and this is what i got.

Elite i20
Power/weight - 81
Torque/weight - 113

Xcent
Power/weight - 86
Torque/weight - 119

My Xcent does better in highways than i20. I find the mid range of i20 lack luster. I can easily touch 80kmp/h with my xcent than i20.

I Own a ELite I20 Petrol, and felt that the Third gear it most sluggish, you have to come down to second for sure in slow traffic. Once you are on Open stretch road then only can engage the third.
As you are going to use in City traffic mostly, it will be great car for sure. The clutch is super smooth and Steering is light.
Yes its do gain little wait with speed but not at all comparable like Fiat Punto or like Swift. It will still make you nervous on Highway but surely way better than the previous gen I20.

At what speed are you talking about in the traffic ? In most petrol cars, you'll have to downshift from 3rd to 2nd if you go below 25kmph. And if you accelerate in 3rd it will be a little bit sluggish or you will get jerks.
Case is different for some diesels. I test drove the amaze diesel and i was able to accelerate from 20+ kmph easily in 3rd gear just because of the low end torque.

^^ When I TD Elite i20 petrol, even for ~30 km/h speed, I had to downshift to 2nd.I found it to be hard to keep the car in 2nd even when traffic is flowing at 30-40km/h range. I TD at noon where traffic is medium and flow is like I mentioned 30-40 mostly.

Thanks guys for the input. I think i will go with elite i20 sportz petrol. the comfort and the feature set is something thats keeping me hooked to this car. a little sluggishness cant be dealt with :

BTW, how long was the waiting period for petrol model ? were you able to negotiate cost on this car ?

I felt the sluggishnesh on 3rd gear between 25-30 (maxm) kmph only. In my area I have open road but with numerous speed breaker. While slowing down to cross them with speed of 20-25 Kmph on third gear find difficult to accelarate again with full throttle even. I have to downshift to second.

Hi Guys. Another question.
Sportz runs on 14 inch wheels and Asa on 16 inch. Does overall diameter changes with the two rim sizes or it remains the same ?
I guess if diameter remains the same then asta should be using a low profile tyre on its 16 inch wheels.

Take a photograph at night with mobile flash on of both the cars and upload it here.
As you can see, the Red one is the Elite i20 and the Grey one is the Brio. If you look closely, you'll see that the swirls are invisible on the Brio and are clearly visible on i20 when zoomed near the area of the flash. And this is what concerned me as to the paint quality difference between the two. Both the cars have been left untouched with no 3M treatments whatsoever.

Note - Images have been resized due to size limitations.

Why the brio doesn't have scratch marks baffles me. Brio might have superior paint quality but every car's paint are prone to scratches. the finish in the 2nd pic, on my cars , comes only after getting a rubbing and polishing done.
Don't have anything else to say :/

That's what I said when I found these minor scratches on the 3 month old i20 when its not even there on the 2 year old Brio. Bigger scratches are there on the lip of the bumper below fog lamp housing which are bound to happen. Maybe I need to check other i20s next time when its due for service.
