Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Hey guys DRACO is going for its first service tomorrow.
So just wanted to know what are the things that I should keep in mind and get them checked.

Also what are the charges for the first service?
you will be charged just for the consumables i.e. engine oil will cost around 1990rs rest everything should be free of cost apart from any damage repair.

With Mahindra you can stay with your car during servicing and can tell the mechanic what else to look out for so it is not like you have to make a note at the first time itself.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

FIRST SERVICE update:
DRACO went in for it’s first free service on Saturday. I called up our SA a day before (Friday) and took an appointment for Saturday also booked a driver for pickup since I had some other stuff to do. I reached Faridabad by Friday evening and Saturday morning around 9 am got a call from the Dealer that their driver cum technician has left for our place and should be there in 15-20 mins. The driver was at our house around 9:20 am. The guy had a paper where he listed down all the things that we wanted to be done in the service.

Things that I mentioned:
1. Brakes making grinding noise.
2. 1, 2 and reverse gears were little bit hard.
3. A small touch up job- (a small stone or something might have hit the front bumper on the bottom side which left a small scratch).
4. To update the infotainment system, if required.
5. Rest whatever needs to be done in first service.

The guy listened very carefully, patiently and noted down all the points and left for the dealership. He said that if it was only servicing they could have given my car by 12 but since it’s brakes and hard gears it will take some extra time. And the time given for delivery was 3-3:30 pm and I was okay with it.
Got the car back around 4:15 pm and was dropped at home. I was very happy to see my DRACO all cleaned up from inside and outside as well and no dirty spots or something could be found. I checked the car for around 10 minutes before taking the delivery and everything was satisfactory.

The guy who came to drop the car had an evaluation sheet with him and I did reward him with 9/10. All the points noted down were taken care off except the touch up job since they were out of paint. Which will be taken care of next to next week and will require only 20-30 mins.

Now regarding the grinding noise I thought maybe it was the famous niggle reported in XUV and had told the technician to change the pads. But they cleaned the brakes and now the noise has vanished. Also the SA told me that if I hear that sound again than they will change the pads. After the first service I have driven the car for almost 200 kms and so far we didn’t had that grinding noise issue.

So overall I had a very nice experience and I rate it 9.5/10 to the dealer. And I will definitely recommend the same dealer to anyone who is looking for a XUV and is near or in Faridabad.

Now after the first service the DRACO has become even more smoother. The gears are no more hard and are like butter smooth. Another good part is that the FE has increased. And has gone upto 14.7 kml before first service max FE we got was 14 kml.

Completed 5000 kms

As soon as the ODO clicked 5000 the infotainment system started displaying "Service Due" message.

Like Gurrala said you have to pay for the consumables and parts.

They used 6L of oil and not sure whether that is synthetic or not.

Look at the pic below taken from the manual.

From the cost it seems to me it is normal oil. The engine will need atleast 4 - 5 lts and this works out to Rs. 400/- (approx) per litre. This is the cost for normal oil. Synthetic oil is more expensive

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

So finally i got my front brake pads changed.

As mentioned before i was getting the famous grinding noise while applying the brakes though there was no problem or effect on the braking ability of DRACO. So i told the same to the dealer and they told me that they will change it on 1st service.

On the first service instead of changing the pads they cleaned the pads and put them back again and told me the same and asked me to let them know if the noise comes back again. And that they will replace them if the noise is back and i was okay with it.

There was no noise for some 500-600 kms but then again the noise came back and i told our SA about it and he told me to bring the vehicle anytime according to my convenience. So i took an appointment for 6 May and i was told to bring in the vehicle at 2:00 PM and by 4:00 PM everything will be done.

I reached the dealership at 2:10 PM and the SA was right at the door waiting for me as i had called him before leaving. I handed my keys over to him and me and my brother were escorted to the customer lounge. I asked the SA whether i can be at the workshop bay when they change the pads and he said that "I can arrange that for you".

First of all one of the technician took a TD of the car and came back in 10 mins and my XUV was parked right into the lift bay and within 10 minutes there was a guy who came and started working on my XUV. By 3:15 PM all the work was done and i was like Wooww (they actually finished the work before hand)[:)]. Then again the same guy went for the TD to check whether everything is in order and working fine.

Then the SA asked me whether i want a car wash[:D]and i said why not. So it took another 30-35 minutes for the car wash as there were few car ahead of ours but i didn't mind waiting and went back to the customer lounge.

So by 4:00 PM our DRACO was all ready to hit the road again with the new pads and was shinning (exactly the way i like it).

Again an overall wonderful experience and great A.S.S. And this time i would give 9.5/10 to my dealership experience.

Now time for few pics.

@Singhji

One doubt, is that brake pads replacement so quickly is a normal thing on any SUV ??

No sirji it's not the case, I got my brake pads changed because I was getting that famous grinding noise while applying the brakes though there was no problem with the braking. So they changed it.

@Singh

OK, it is the same thing happening with other XUV's too, as my friend also got his XUV pads replaced for such sound and also not very confident braking too.

well in my case there was no problem with braking and it always gave me confidence.
Two of my cousins own Fortuner and after driving our XUV that's one of the thing they pointed out. That they feel more confident while braking in XUV rather than Fortuner.

@Singhji

I agree with you as Fortuner looked very bumpy to me, but I have not driven it anytime,so do not know about the brakes
