Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Well Draco stands at 13888 kms.

Did a road trip to Udaipur and came back 2 days back. Drove almost 2000 kms. you can find the report here: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/voyage-junction/13613-delhi-udaipur-trip-city-lakes.html

We were 6 people, 7 bags and 5-6 loose plasctic bags in XUV. And DRACO did some amazing speeds of 150-160-170 with that load without any strain. One thing i would like to point out is braking which has been ultimate throughout the journey. i thought the load may cause some issue in braking on high speeds. But the pickup, stability, braking and FE everything just won my heart. It got 14.5 kmpl with 100% AC.
Thats some Phenomenal Trip!
Even I've been inspired by XUV's braking. one of the best brakes in the segment! 14.5 is Awe-inspiring FE!! Esp considering the rocket speeds!

However, did you notice that it easily hits 170, but is reluctant onwards? I've held her on 170 for about 2 mins but the needle refused to budge. My fortuner goes all the way to 180~182...

No doubt about it buddy, the breaking has been wonderful ever since we bought ours (touchwood). And after this trip my confidence has even gone higher. And even I was surprised by the FE because it was fully loaded and 120 - 130 was our regular speed.

Yes.
If I shifted to 6th on 100 it took some time but if I did the same around 115-120 it touched 170 in no time.

And now I trust people who say that they have done 200 on XUV.

I didn't try going over 170 but there was lot of juice still left which could have easily put the needle beyond 200.

This how DRACO looked after our Udaipur trip.

Took this pic on NH 8 while coming back.

Time for shower. Usually wash the car myself but there was lot of mud and slush on the underbody hence took DRACO out for a power wash.

After 1 st round.[:)]

And the next day DRACO was again ready for it's trip to Delhi and around ( approx 600 kms). [:D]

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Came back from Delhi last night. Usually it takes me 3 hours from Faridabad to Moradabad but yesterday it took me almost 6 hours because one side of NH 24 was closed due to Kanvar's after the Ganga bridge in Garhmukteshwar till the moradabad bypass. Hence first we stuck in a big traffic jam for about 1 hour and then had to take another route which was through some fields and villages.

So anyone going towards Moradabad, Rampur, Nanital etc. Please avid taking NH 24 until Rakshabandhan, 20 Aug.

Now coming back to DRACO. Finally it completes 15000 Kms.

Hence gifted DRACO pair of Scuff plates and Blue LED lights under the dash.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

congrats!

is there a major service at 15k km?

well for the leds, they re cool
they look like those gernic Chinese strips floating around shops.

but doesn't 500 already have red longue lights for the same purpose? are yours blown?

what wires were tapped to install these lights?

blue light is known to destroy night vision and cause stress to the eye. red/Amber is most friendly. you'll see dim red lighting for emergency exits, theatres and even 500's longue lights!

No buddy there is no service due at 15000 km. Next (Third) service is at 20K. And i guess that will be a major one though.

These led's will operate only when the doors are open. That's why i went for Blue. As i like blue more than red for that purpose. So i can't operate them otherwise. If it was other way around, For ex: i could switch them on/off whenever i wanted then i would have gone for red led as that would have gone with the red light in XUV.

Since the light's will come up only when the ignition is off and the doors are open, it won't destroy the night vision and cause stress.

It's connected to the door light switch in the middle row and the led's are connected to the scuff plates on the front door's.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Regarding the infotainment system. When paired with a phone and the music is playing from the phone to the infotainment system. All is working fine. The only problem is when you switch the ignition off and later switch it on again then the music from the phone does not start automatically. I have to press the music button in order for the music start. With the previous software version it use to start automatically.
The other issue is with the USB port when playing music from it. The music start over from the first track when the ignition was switch off for longer than 10 minutes.
The version is 04.04.00.
Does everyone face the same issues?
Thank you

I thought that all was the normal behavior!
it's so irritating when we listen the same track 1 song hundreds of time on USB!
also it's very embarrassing when the system switches to Radio very often (eg phone moves out of range )and we are greeted to a loud buzz.

That's a fantastic thread you have maintained.
This virtually spells out the history of your DRACO.

Well maintained, and it goes on to show the passion you have for your beast.

I am considering buying an XUV. However, I am thoroughly confused with the choice of colour.
It is a personal choice, I know.
White, silver or red. I hope that I will get some divine intervention to sort out my confusion

Hello & welcome to The Automotive India Dhanush.

I am glad that you liked my ownership review and found it useful.

Now coming back to your question as in what color? This is purely subjective choice but let me make it bit easy for you.

Personally my favorite is white and it's easy to maintain as well.

But if you are looking for the beige interiors than you have to choose either white or black. Now since black is not in your list you are left with White, so..[:)]
