Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Wow! What en eventful episode. Good to see all is well and the beast is back with some new stuff. Happy motoring bud!
Thanks buddy and yes the new Voice (Horn) does solve the purpose very well comparing to the old one[;)]
Singh lots of drama happening with your XUV.

How come they were using a 2WD to the rescue?

In the end All is Well..

Now i understand the slush on XUV.

Wish you many more miles.
Thanks dude and i also didn't understand that why did they send a 2wd?

And according to the guy they had already attended 4 breakdowns before coming to us and had another 7 calls after mine.

Though initially i was under the impression that it would be a 4wd but it solved the purpose anyways.

WOW!
Mr. Singh what a day you had!!
It was almost scary and i'm glad you got her out unscathed.

The Front Bumper was almost Biting into mud and i was afraid if it would come apart if vehicle was pulled backwards.
What I have found out that XUV is extremely heavy for its size. Don't go over the compact looks! my XUV broke a tile in my parking space (under front driver side tyre) whereas i could park my safari and fortuner safely there. XUV is heavier than safari!!

This is both a good and bad thing, vehicle is very stable on High speeds but if it gets bogged down (and add FWD to that) it gets very difficult. Also the vehicle clips off when on speed breakers.

I had a visit with my THUNDERBOLT to dealership and will be posting soon!

+100 to that.

That was the main problem that the car is heavier from the front side, front side got stuck and it's a FWD.

And yes XUV is a heavy Beast. I broke a part of ramp of one of my cousins house parking [evil] and the culprit was the front tire.

Waiting for the updates on your Thunderbolt.

maybe because the weight of the engine and since it is a FWD , the weight for the front tyres maybe higher.

Exactly and that was the reason that the tire went so deep and even a little bit throttle was making the tires go even more deeper.

you are right about the weight, however I do not think that weight if front tyres by themselves is higher, they are same tyres as rear. 17 inch. yes weight ON them have more.

singh, which tyres did your 500 arrive with?
mine are jk elanzos and have slightly more aggressive tread pattern that also looks better. definitely a step up from bridgestones that most vehicles ship with. feels like the bridgestones have very small tread patterns and will have their tread filled with mud / gravel and will loose all their grip in slushy conditions.

+100 to that. They are heavier due to the engine weight.

Thanks Paaji but i won't have let you pull the cheetah by your Verna, coz it would have scrapped from the bottom. See the videos that Scorpio took almost 1.5 hour to take it out[:D]

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

hey bhvm,
feels good reading your ownership. I just booked an xuv. but im getting a feedback that the ride is bouncy and long trips are tiring in the middle row as well. this worries me because im moving to an suv from a sedan. I'm not used to the bouncy suv effect.
I'd like to know your comparison on the ride for the non driver on comparing it against innova and a sedan.
cheers

Buddy if you are comparing the ride quaity of XUV from a sedan than it's definitely better and you will feel the bumps less in any SUV compared to a sedan.

Now coming to the rear seat comfort, in XUV you have good thigh support and the rear seats are reclining as well which provides good comfort and on top of that there is ample of legroom for the front and the second row. So personally i or as a matter of fact anyone in my family has never complained about the second row seating in city as well as highway driving.

But since the XUV has stiffer suspensions as compared to other SUV's like a Safari/Fortuner big potholes can be felt but definitely better than a sedan.

Re: DRACO - Mahindra XUV 5OO-W8: Ownership Review

Well Draco stands at 13888 kms.

Did a road trip to Udaipur and came back 2 days back. Drove almost 2000 kms. you can find the report here: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/voyage-junction/13613-delhi-udaipur-trip-city-lakes.html

We were 6 people, 7 bags and 5-6 loose plasctic bags in XUV. And DRACO did some amazing speeds of 150-160-170 with that load without any strain. One thing i would like to point out is braking which has been ultimate throughout the journey. i thought the load may cause some issue in braking on high speeds. But the pickup, stability, braking and FE everything just won my heart. It got 14.5 kmpl with 100% AC.
