If I were to given a chance, I would install some kind of artillery to make holes in those high beam headlights on the oncoming cars.
i am also thinking about same.

when i am taking care not to hurt other by using high beam . why cant they think about same.
i had enough with low beam driving now . enough with going out of road falling into craters . i need to add additional halogen lights on my car just to teach them a lesson.

the cars i have observed with high beam driving without lowering for incoming traffic.
maruthi -800 (50 % do not dim light)
maruthi -alto(80-90 % do not dim)
ambassador (90-95% do not dim)
toyota fortuner(60-70% do not dim)

those whom use low beam religeously
maruthi swift/ritz (95%)
indica(80%)
toyota innova(70%)
wagonr(60%)
scorpio-(60%)

just an appraximate figure i have been observing since couple of months with regularly seen cars .

Good observation Jayadev.

But my observation so far has been most of the entry level hatch drivers never bother to reduce the beam even if you flash repeatedly. The reason i guess is most of the those drivers are not so good drivers or car enthusiasts to respect other drivers on road. This happened once for a Santro for me. Inspite of flashing repeatedly that guy din't lower the beam , i got highly pissed off! It was just a small street with enough street lightings and speed below 40kmph. I drove straight into him and parked my car in front of him got down and asked why the heck are you driving with high beam??!! He was like he can't see the road properly so was using high beam. I made him aware that driving with high beam inside city is against the law and requested him not to repeat this again!

that is a very good thing you have done there cooldhaya. it would help many others as that guy can be careful henceforth.

the those drivers are not so good drivers or car enthusiasts to respect other drivers on road.
yes my observation is also of simile. 3 reasons
arrogance- high class idiots those who think high beam in daytime also make sense.

ignorance-drunkards,careless drivers (emergency vehicles)

innocence-new drivers,nervousness,or problem in headlamp.

strangely none of them could be spared for any of the reasons for driving with high beam.

eithers strict laws or or laser burners could teach them a lesson .
i am going to find one for sure or make one as diy.

Not Punjab mate, just Chandigarh.

And that is because Chandigarh gets three kinds of police.
Punjab Police, Haryana Police and Chandigarh Police.

Thats a great move MS.
As i have come across, here in Bangalore the practise of using high beams is less.
My self always use automatic headlamp, it ensures that rays never reaches opponent's eyes.
I use high beam on highways, that too if i see a light in opposite direction , switch them immediately to low beam.

@AMG:
Why to make joke of such problem, this attitude of you really hurts.Take care, you must help him kindly instead of making jokes..OKAY?

BACK TO TOPIC:
I never-ever use the high beams in the city,as I have many times mentioned on the forum,I am very keen about safety. Not only mine, but other's too.Hence if I ever see anyone coming from opposite side then I quickly shifts to the low beam if on high or medium. This makes the other person relaxed and helps prevent the accidents.
On the highways I do use high beam, but if the highway is two lane then I keep on shifting between the beams instead of being rigid at one and causing problem to the on-side coming traffic.

I have seen many people in Delhi unknowingly drives on high beam and when you ask them to lower their beam. They would look at it you as if you have asked for something which they are not even aware of.

My friend drives an Alto and never lower his beam. When I requested him, he denied by saying, " Others are not doing then why should I do it ?'

This is the typical Indian attitude which leads to our current state when it comes to traffic rules "Why do something when everybody is breaking them?!?"

Instead if we be like" Let me do my bit others will also follow me then" We would have been in a much better situation!

I don't know why such people don't tailgate stationary trucks on highways, even there too they should say "Why should we stop when all others are no stopping"..[frustration]
And why don't they ever say"Why should I drive rash when others are driving safe"?
