Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

I have come for the 10,000km servicing at ms. ratnaprabha motors, Aurangabad.

there is no oil change. just alignment, gen checkup and washing.

alignment charges are hefty at 1500 approx.
updating GPS maps attract a charge of 250 .
two front struts are meant to be changed.

will keep you guys posted.

Get the oil changed immaterial is my advice, ignore the alignment rather and get it done outside. 2 Front struts ? You mean bushes ?
Dont pay them a penny for GPS update - its meant to be free.

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

thanks for the lighting quick reply.
yes the front bushes or something. they cost 500 rupees.

I'll get alignment done this time as they've taken vehicle in.
what do you mean by immaterial oil change? I've had a engine oil change at 6000km and now the next oil change is mentioned to be 20,000 km in service book.

I complained about the GPS charges. guess I'll simply skip it a get it done later at other dealer.

Something wrong with the dealer, front bushes used to cost 27 rs a piece , give them benefit of some labour. but it shouldnt be 500 rs.

I meant get the oil changed at 10000kms irrespective of what mahindra say - its just a good practice early on. After this do it every 10k kms as per manual thereafter.

THUNDERBOLT XUV 500 10,000KM Service Update (2nd service)

Hello Friends,
I would like to share my 2nd service experience with M/s

RATNAPRABHA MOTORS, Aurangabad (Mah) as below.

Summary-
Date- 25.10.13
KM reading- 10,500
Service cost- 2,000 Rupees (Only Alignment, balancing & Rotation)

(bad)Experience-
We reached the Dealership near 10.30.
We were welcomed by Mr.Yogesh who seemed well informed and soft-spoken. After a quick talk, we were shown to Waiting room. Now starts the Long...Loooong wait. The worse thing was Boredom. TV and AC were'nt working. There was NO provison for Tea or Refreshments.

The problem was aggravated due to lack of Drop service. Situated in MIDC Area, I could wait all day for a Riskshaw or Walk my way to the restaurant for lunch. We had small Phone calls throught the period and I explained Multiple times - Outstation customers like us should get better treatment. Entry near vehicle is not allowed (Curse it!) so we could not see any progress or take any snaps throught.

After lunch we had a heated argument as my vehicle was not even touched at all since morning. I was able to take delivery of my vehicle only at 5 in evening. The works were nothing but Alignment/Balancing and wash. There was no Oil change at this servicing. I feel such works could be done within 2 hours at a better dealership.

Overall dealer Rating-
4 of 10.

Questions and Solutions- (Talks with service Advisor)

1)Mud Flaps having gaps-
>All Mud flaps Re-fitted proprly

2) Noise in HU-
>HU has a cooling fan that can be heard in silent times. This is also present in new Vehcile and should be taken as normal

3)Low beam Cuttoff too Low-
>Headlight alignment is proper according to Company rules.

4) Clucth Release Abrupt-
>there is no “setting”. Perhaps the Cheetah Likes to “Pounce” Its in the blood, live with it. Clutch bleeding should help somewhat.

5) Engine Clipping at low speeds (Eg speed breakers)
>XUV being a very heavy vehicle (Heavier than Fortuner) should be engeged with 1st gear at low speeds (Whereas we could manage with 2nd gear in Fortuner)

6)GPS Map updates-
GPS updates are chargable at Rs.250. Saved locations shall be lost so we have skipped updates for now.

7) How to open Front Grille (For adding Fog lamps)
Front grille opened and taught about the procedures.

Improvements noticed-
>Overall vehicle Noise is much less
>Steering vibration at high speeds is gone
>Slotting into 2nd gear is easier
>Clutch seems smoother (perhaps they did a clutch bleed)
>Brakes have more bite (brakes have been cleaned)

P.s-
I have added LED FOG LAMPS and Grille Illumiation this suday to my beloved THUNDERBOLT. The Results are FANTASTIC! Guides and pics coming up!

I got a message from Mahindra that the Map updates are free. Get it cleared with customer service number.

Also majority of the service centers allow you to stand next to your vehicle while servicing. Have experienced this in 2 different svcs in 2 different cities.

Nice thread
Could you please elaborate more about the black box?
What is that? Is it separate from your HU?
What HU is fitted by the OEM?

I'm glad you liked my writings.
the black box is a control box that has way too many wires going into it-
Ac
USB
light sensor & wiper sensor
touchscreen
amp
speakers
antenna
some other unknown wires.

if you can zoom in on the pics taken during amp install, you maybe able to spot more.
I don't know if this is hu itself or so. but they said car won't start without this black box...
the oem HU is Nippon.

Am very much excited abut your black box.
Never heard or seen such device before.
I need to do some research on google about it.
Did you change your speakers?
Any plans for a car pc?
Meanwhile I would like to have you on my thread

1)the term black box was used by Mahindra staff during amp install and during tracing buzzing problems.
2)I have installed dual woofer setup and my guide is available here-
DIY Dual woofer setup (Hidden and Underseat)
3)I had installed car PC during my teen years. that was year 2000 and car was Tata safari 1948cc (old type). xuv is not the vehicle you'll want to install car PC, wiring is complicated and space is low.
I'm with you, in case your planning for your aria.
4) I'm reading it. nice review.

Re: “Thunderbolt” XUV 5OO Detailed Review (Decals, Audio, LED, Mods++)

hello everyone!!
after a loooooonngg wait of 8 months,I got the purple Club kit now! ohhh!
however as you guessed it, most of the coupons have expired. I have launched a message for the same, now let's see what happens.

else the vehicle has going fine. efficiency seems to be hovering around 13 but never touching 14. there's very faint 'toooooob....tooooob' sound in the cabin regardless of engine or vehicle speeds.
I have installed 36w led fog lamps inside the grille. and also Led grille illumination. it's FANTASTIC!!.
