That error is to do with fuel pump.check the quality of diesel in your tank, since you stay in a remote place diesel quality could be an issue. Also check all the harness around the fuel pump for any physical damage.

Simply resetting a code never helps, if it comes back in the first drive there has to be proper detailed diagnosis. better take the xuv to a service centre, else if they keep sending a guy with scanner this is never going to resolve.

So,
Sent the cheetah in a cage to the zoo.
Well. The Towing guys really messed up the timings. Complaint placed at 10AM, the flatbed came at 6 in evening!

Captured lots of Pics & videos of flatbed for myself.

Here is the latest update-
They resetted the code and replaced something called "Modulator". The service guys were unable to explain what the damm modulator is on phone. However, I asked them to test once more at high speeds (High revvs) as thats when code returned last trial

And there is a slight hint from mechanic that turbo maybe blown[frustration][confused][surprise]
as there is hissing sound from turbo or intercooler. The same will be checked thoroughly tomorrow. Ordering a new turbo will eat 3~4 days. Oh poor me.

warranty.

they took a test drive today morning. the check lamp returned at highway speeds. they don't have all the equipment to properly test the turbo. I'm in communication with Mahindra Bombay Office. let's see what they say.

Sigh! Once again an XUV on a flatbed. [anger]

The turbo has gone kaput early IMO and Mahindra here should honour the warranty. From my experience and having seen XUVs with over a lac kms and still going strong without a single major repair (mostly highway), it is surprising to find the turbo going kaput on an XUV; engine of this car is a reliable one after all. Keep us updated if they honour the warranty or not and if they don't then do update for sure. I hope the car is covered under extended warranty though.

Dear vipul,
Thanks for the support. I am not worried about warranty. I am at heart sure they'll 100%.
They don't have equipment to test turbo; And they also clarified that they may put in a new turbo in good faith or pro-actively as required. Just that ordering will take some time.

However, a few thoughts are crossing my mind.

The reliability Track record of XUV has really proven poor. There is a long list of issues and Niggles. Whereas small niggles regarding electronics are understandable, there have been a few that threaten the car to be deemed unreliable or inoperative.

Clutch, Engine/Turbo and AC are on that list. I have been interacting with Many XUV owners on and off the forum. Many have suffered infotainment, Bulb out etc issues. However, Complaints regarding Engine/Turbo and quite unheard of.

What will be your suggestion regarding this?
Would it be wise to put flatbed pics on Twitter/FB accounts to garner some attention?
Should I put the list of issues faced in just 60k Kms?

Complaint placed- 8th nov.
Flatbed- 14th
Today- 16th.

Overall 8 days since vehicle inoperative.
Dad's business visits are getting messed and he does not really like travelling in i10.

edit- Check lamp came ON again after they took the vehicle to 140+ today. This is the third time I guess.

IMO putting the pics on social media is not a solution at least as of now. We all know that Mahindra guys actually work hard to make sure that the customer is satisfied at the end. This I would say that is too much for an ownership of just 60k kms.

For now better tweet it to Anand and see how things turn out to be. Actually I am much surprised looking at a mechanical issue, although I have seen an XUV with engine getting seized very early but that was an off case properly taken care by Mahindra.

All in all my suggestion it to wait and keep faith in the Mahindra guys as of now. Rest you sure if the issue is with turbo only? Had the turbo been faulty then the light could have come up in second or third gear too ag half the speed or lower than 140+.

Confirmed- The turbo is blown.

They have placed the order. Delivery takes anywhere about a week. The service guys said its OK to drive the vehicle in this condition If I keep it below 100. I will still shoot a mail to Mahindra regarding this.

The parts will be covered in warranty, Charges outside warranty-
Turbo-36k,
Fitting-4k.

About speeds, I tried red-lining the vehicle in Idle (the day they sent laptop person to my place) but Error code did not appear. I guess its speed sensitive.

P.s- Vipul can you please tweet for me?
Other members can also help. You can mention that the vehicle in question has seen so many replacements under 60k as below-

Infotainment Silver box (thrice)
Infotainment HMI & screen
Reverse hooter
Driver side power window motor
AC some pipe
Clutch sudden failure

Now Turbo , EGR and some modulator.

Please assist.

How can the turbo fail that early. If it was a manufacturing defect then how did it lasted 60000 kms with so many high speed runs. The root cause of this should be found out by mahindra.

@BHVM
Sirji please PM me the details like car number, service station name, owner's name and contact number + e mail id of yours so that I can tweet about the car and share the details with Anand and Pawan as well as their customer service teams via e-mail and direct message on Twitter. Rest I tell you, Mahindra people are good enough over this one and I have personally noticed that they are already sincere in their works.

@Mayank saab
Sirji turbo failure is not actually too big an issue as this high speed turbine do fail at times and there have been several instances of it. If this car was owned by any tom, dick or harry then I was least bit bothered if even the engine is seized (I know if an XUV which had clutch fried under 100 kms on odo but not bothered) but the car here belongs to a responsible enthusiast who has a vast experience of not just XUV but even SUVs from a segment higher. Now this guy knows what he is doing to his car and takes care of everything but still he is facing failures. So in this case the turbo failure is an issue for me. Personally I would consider my self careless in front of the OP but never faces an issue like this, so it is a point of concern for me.
