Re: “Thunderbolt” Mahindra XUV5OO Detailed Review (3 Years Report)

Guys, Bad news.
The check engine light came on. Its solid ON. Not blinking. Not going away.
All other functions normal. Entire revv range of engine is available but performance has dulled. The turbo boost seems absent. Engine is behaving like a old NA diesel [frustration]
hi
has the engine check light issue been sorted out?

BHVM, hope so things are getting sort out. As you have extended warranty so no need to worry ( finger crossed )

General question,
How did you manage to get in touch with Mahindra?
What is your service center's role in this?
Did you notice anything prior to get indication/notified/changes from your car?

I hope your answer will help us all.

Cheers,
Atul

Thanks Atul,
Their reply appeared positive, and I haven't even escalated the issue. So there are enough bullets in my gun.

I sent an Mail to Customercare, They In turn Replied my email and also called me from Bombay office. Then they forwarded the request to "Nearest" service center. The service center also called me and assured someone will come down in 1~2 days. I do have good relations with most service centers.

About Indication, I assume you are asking how the check light came on? So, the car was sleeping nicely in parking and one fine morning, the light just came on, stayed there. I already tried cleaning engine bay with Compressed air, checked for Rat tracks (not found) and took a peek at all fuses and wires which were visible.

Re: “Thunderbolt” Mahindra XUV5OO Detailed Review (3 Years Report)

Hello All,
Mahindra sent one of their junior Engineers to my place with a small scanner (i-smart). They found a code P0231, and resetted it.

The Check Light is gone, and I can hear turbo whistle again[evil]
However, the service incharge at Jalgaon has Demanded Rs 450 as "Breakdown charges". I will be sending a mail to Mahindra If it would be liable to pay it as I've paid RSA, which is said to cover breakdowns.

Further, I will update after a trial run tonight about the performance etc.

Buddy don't get worried as you are covered under warranty which will take care if something major comesup and won't make dent in your wallet.
Secondly just keep your patience until the service center guy comes up and hook the OBD scanner, only then we will know what' the main reason for the light. Since the XUV has tons of gizmos hence tons of wires and sensors.
I think it will be something minor. I'll give you an example which actually happened with me: Ever since I got the I20 the running of XUV has gone down as it has already done 89K on the ODO so I prefer taking out I20 for my daily use and XUV is majorly doing the highway trips only.
So last month I had to go out of station for a business trip and a day before I just checked the car to see if everything is OK and encountered the check light. After getting it checked the culprit was a wire in the driver side door which goes into the small machine that controls all the windows and side mirrors. And the wire was ok too but it had some carbon on it which didn't let the machine work properly.
The service center guys opened it, cleaned it everything was back to normal. So just keep patience until those guys arrive.[:)]
