Re: “Thunderbolt” Mahindra XUV5OO Detailed Review (3 Years Report)

Just had call with my Service Guy, as per them it's upto driving standard, so its' vary from person to person. Normally, it's should change in 60K to 80K range. Haven't sure about rates yet.
BHVM, you have opted extended warranty. Can you confirm with your Service guy that, does this issue has been included/cover under warranty as well? This may be helpful for all of us.
Cheers
Atul

Thanks Atul.
Please do post whenever you get an update on price.

Regarding extended warranty, "wear & Tear" Items are not covered. Which Means things like Clutch, Suspensions, bearings etc are NOT covered. I am pretty sure these busings come under "Wear & tear".

Interestingly, Shock absorbers (I think gas or Oil filled) are covered in warranty.

On the sidenote, I got "No Question asked" treatment regarding warranty (Factory or extended). They just check if all services are on time/KM and done properly at ASS. Otherwise there's no issue.

Things I got under warranty (Standard or extended)-
HU Silver box (2~3 times)
HU HMI (Includes Touchscreen & GPS memory I think)
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Reverse/ Security Hooter
AC Gas Hoses (included free Gas Recharge)
Low beam projector (Got aligned)
Power window Driver side Motor.

Thats a quite a list!

Also along with these checks they would see if any wiring changes, Mods on the engines are being made or not as they too void the warranty for it.

Yes, However They don't seem to have any problems with my Dual woofer setup or HID kits.
Infact the SA himself was asking from where I got the HID kid and can I arrange one for his vehicle!
Some other drivers too asked me about HID in projectors. Many were curious if these caused trouble with cops etc.

I was driving XUV on bad roads yesterday, I was observing the feel of Jumpiness/ Stiffness of Suspension. I feel that XUV drives best with ATLEAST 3~4 people and moderate luggage. It helps damping.

Driving with 1~2 people makes the rear end jumpy. I could feel the kickback on Speedbreakers (Esp tall ones) and on Potholes. I usually take speedbreakers VERY Gently. Usually 1st or 2nd gear. Still the rear end jumps.

The FE of thunderbolt has settled to about 13~13.6 KMPL as per MID.
The AC has become a chiller after recent warranty repair.
Nothing else to report.

@bhvm, did you receive any certificate or anything that confirming extended warranty? I just had the receipt and was told will be receiving one within a month or two. But yet nothing. Did you cover all above part of your warranty after you complain or genuinely they found issue during inspection and replaced. I believe it must be former but still the dumb question for you to confirm.

we received only payment receipts. the warranty is updated on Mahindra SAP, which your RM can confirm..the warranty entry is visible all over India.

for example, we had Power window failure in Anand, gujrat, but warranty was paid in Nashik, Maharashtra.

Mahindra has no fuss attitude regarding warranty.
p.s- I didn't have to raise my voice any time. I pointed at the problem & they fixed it promptly.

Guys, Bad news.
The check engine light came on. Its solid ON. Not blinking. Not going away.
All other functions normal. Entire revv range of engine is available but performance has dulled. The turbo boost seems absent. Engine is behaving like a old NA diesel [frustration]

Don't worry, will be a small issue, don't run the car, might be rat bite, did you check with obd scanner?
Please check all fluid levels before starting or running the car.

Is the engine sound is harsh in idle?
Give me more inputs for diagnosis

Might be some sensor issue or rat bite.
, If engine starts and idles 80% not to worry, if turbo feel absent, might be ecu not getting info from any sensors like fuel, air , oxygen levels .. try scanning the DTC

Hello Sting,
Thanks for the assurance. Yes, I am not running the vehicle and instructed Dad about the same.

Engine Idle appears normal. Revving is normal. I do not own OBD.

Sorry for the late response. By now the issue would have been already resolved. Difficult to diagonise the problem on the forum. Might be one of those sensors !
I wouldn’t waste any time to call my SM asking him to send a technician/s to scan and read back the error code that pops up.
