Even iam not a big fan of aria and its look ,though it being a very good product . But our impression hardly matter
then what is the motive of this thread? [confused]
,
Since they are subjective .overall it was not the look , put the price which made it a market dud IMHO .
it was the combination of both.
the picture which jaydev has posted the aria looks so similar to the innova

and the price tatas were asking then made it an instant dud

Because if mahindra quanto can sell 15000 units in 2 months inspite of not wining any beauty contests , if priced correctly and with some nice enhancements the aria too can sell in its segments in decent numbers .
the reason being there is no UV at that price point currently. the reason duster enjoys those sales figures inspite of the poor plastics, fit and finish.

True, those who are looking for something rugged like an suv yet compact like a midsize sedan or hatchback for indian roads will happily go for Duster.
I dont see any other options if one is set for a small Suv for off and on road tours.
Tata has nothing like an offroader or 4x4 under 12 lakh.

Aria for its huge size and high asking price ,prospective buyers will think of long term benefit and stick with cheaper Innova or Xuv.

What is the motive of the the thread? you must ask the thread starter not me .

Again iam saying you find it like Innova some may find it extremely classy looking . Your or my view is not a general view .

And why quanto is selling even I know I was responding to Manoj that the price was too much , if it was correctly it would have sold well when it was launched .

Yes.Quanto is selling in 5000s a month as it is priced sensibly right from its launch, its not my liking though.

Jaydev and Raja, Do you think if Tata had launched the Pure LX variant with its current price when Aria was introduced first time in the market, it would have sold in 4000-5000 per month, the number XUV achieves these days without any drama?

I dont find Aria missing anything.Only issue being back breaking price for any Tata lover.
A glitch : It more of an SUV+UV than SUV+sedan. check the bottom pic
Only price is not the issue buddy, Tata also has to prove that it is upto the mark.
Saw the pic and you know what, the road shown can be negotiated by even a Honda City.

Not only price, but brand image too. Rest XUV simply eclipsed it in terms of performance.

+100

Maybe to make a brief comparo between two cars.

the picture which jaydev has posted the aria looks so similar to the innova
It's only you who felt that.

Depends..we haven't ever found any of those even close to Aria

I find Aria classy and in fact premium looking too.

Both price and the external appearance/ design did equally contribute to its failure. Tata got it right with interior design [ though inspired from LR] got it wrong with the exterior and made it worst by ridiculous pricing . The design didn't look fresh as XUV commands. Aria had a familiar face [of that of vista/manza] and the side resembled CRV towards its rear and nothing much to say about its rear.

I don't see anything classy when i see familiar and bored designs in a newly launched fresh vehicle.

Aria had no takers because of the enormous initial asking price, nothing else. People are simply saying the appearance dug it's grave. It is almost as same as the Xover model that had been displayed in one of the expos before the launch. IIRC, not many people said anything bad about the car then.

I have read umpteen number of review where Aria is compared with many other cars like Xuv,pajero, fortuner et al. Nowhere anybody mentioned Aria is offensive or boring design but for the Tata logo.

I fail to understand fromwhich angle aria looks familair and dated to look at?

To me sometimes it occurs that Aria shares design cues from Mitsubishi Pajero sport, with curved hood and a huge body shell. Nowhere it resembles to Innova in real life.
Aria has well excecuted elegant body lines and proportionate wheels.where as Innova looks bland and plain jane from all side

I agree with you here , all the drama which tata is doing now with lx variant and all if they would launched it from day 1 it would have surely helped in sales.

Raja, there is one major issue in India which I wonder how scared manufacture would be and that is 'Taxi Image'.
lowering the price and added bad luck has already pushed Aria into Taxi market.
but if it was launched cheaper I dont know how the scenario could be maybe all the innova and sumo owners would have upgraded to Aria ,it is so tempting. I have heard it from force traveller owner,Innova owner ,sumo and Tavera owner.
due to its rugged make they are sure that it would take all the abuse which no other vehical in its category can.
To conclude maybe Tata wasnt wrong!
but still game is not over .rest of the reasons like looks and design remains subjective assumptions.

+1. I hope and wish sincerely at least this time around tata gets it right with Storme and launch it all over india without much delay and invest sensibly to get their customer confidence and satisfaction back.

For me ,Compared to innova, Aria looks better.Only for the looks I didn't buy Innova and went ahead to by my scorpio. From the day 1,if Tata had priced sensibly they could have had an opportunity to compete with innova and scorpio and could have eaten into their market. I was not saying tata should price it very low with all those cost cuttings to attract Taxi segment.Rather I would have preferred Aria launched with a sensible pricing, with all those features, to compete with innova from day 1.

Partially agree to you, Would have done decent numbers (update may be 1.5k to 2k), not 4k -5k.

I would buy the strome. Any day of the week.
From where Storme came into this thread? [lol]
