@sdbgl , what was the effect of increased width of the tyres on FE of your Indica ?

BTW , bridgestone no more produces the stock manza tyres .
As per the calculations I had made it was reduced by 0.5 kms or so per litre. Though it might have been due to error in the odo.. I did not check with gps or anything as I was happy with the performance :)

I spoke to a technical adviser at TATA workshop and he suggested that to stick with the stock size. About the tyre brands he suggested BS,Appolo,Yoko

In yokohama , only size available is 195\60/R 15 and recommended rim size is 6 inch plus for all of them , though minimum allowed rim size is 5.5 inches, Same is true with PLC .
I think xm2 would be a better fit as the recommended rim size is 5.5 .

My understanding is that michelin as a brand are better than yoko and yoko are better than Apollo.Am I right?

Better grip - Michelin>Yoko>BS>Appolo
Good on Bad and good roads - Appolo>BS>Yoko>michelin
Early wornout - Michelin>BS>Yoko>Appolo
Long life - JK>MRF>APPOLO>YOKO>BS>michielin

Hope the above makes your selection easy[:)]

But my experience with Indigo , wagonr s and uno was that BS lasted more than the MRF , JK, Apollo and the difference was of more than 8000 km .

@Gurrala74:The new Michelin tires are supposedly stronger than the previous generation tires. The XM1 and XM1+ had a lot of issues on bad roads.

The XM2 users have not reported any such problems.

The statements you have made are inaccurate.

@Tornado:

I have used JK, MRF and BS.Jk's were really bad.MRF and BS are the best when it comes to all round performance.

Braking and handling on Michelin is far superior. My neighbor purchased these on his Santro the same time I purchased Bs for my 800.He has driven far more than I have and the wear is almost the same.(coin test)He hasn't had any side wall punctures even though he is using XM1+

Michelins are super quiet the Bridgestones are very noisy.Yokohama has good grip in the water(a drives)because of its tread pattern. But it doesnt do well all year round and wears out faster than even Michelins.A friend has these on the Alto

If you want tires to last, get them balanced and aligned and rotated at the correct intervals.

Always maintain equal pressure on all tires.Keep an eye on the tread wear.

If you drive on extremely bad roads and want long life go with MRF, you cannot go wrong there.Same as before and good performance albeit road noise, go with Bridgestone.

If you want wet weather performance alone, go with Yokohama.

If you want all of the above with less road noise and better FE go with Michelin.

Xm2 on my wagonr are asymetrical .My father is happy with them.

Now , how do I know the 195/60 R15 and 185/65 R 15 xm2 ,are symetrical or asymmetrical on theirs website?
For my driving style (I keep on overtaking continously , but I am not a high speed driver)on combination of city roads (25 km) highway (50 km) /day , highway is now under four laning work (would be complete by december end), which are better , symetrical or asymmetrical ?
Wheather in pune- moderately wet during monsoons , otherwise dry.

I was able to download it with my mobile(L620) without any issues

From the list, there are two types of BS tyres listed. One is stock OEM and the other is Turanza is there any difference between both

Bridgestone website is suggesting that 185/60 is available only with rim sizes 14 &13.

And for Tata Manza they are suggesting 195/55 R16 when stock manza size is 185/60 R15:eek:

BTW, michelin have sent a reply(e-mail) on 9th May to my query asked few days back on their website which mentions that 'they would soon respond me'.[frustration] Nothing has happened to till now.
