Spoke to Michelin dealer he said Michelin Plc is discontinued & instead suggested Michelin XM2 or Primacy 3 ST both available in 195/60R/15
Primacy 3ST are basically next generation PLC. Michelin had declared at the launch of the 3 ST that soon they are going to discontinue the PLC.
I was unlucky that at that time(my tire purchase) xm 2 were not availablein this(195 /60 R 15 or 185 /60 R 15 ) size, otherwise xm2 was my first choice as my usual route was going to be full of potholes, hence I needed tougher sidewalls.
I am only concerned with soft rubber on Michelin
Softness(of 3 ST or PLC) of the tread and contact patch is not a problem on highway. It is in fact a plus point as it offers better wet and dry grip. Only problem is softness of sidewall which predisposes it self for sidewall cut and damage. But
beauty of xm 2 is that it has got thougher sidewall than rest of the Michelin tyre range.
even though I dont drive on bad path holed roads but in hills / mountain drive often due to land slide this tyre can be damaged even though it will be a slow drive
I was unaware of this landslide and mountain issue , hence I advised you 3ST. But
now I strongly recommend you xm2.
3 St advantage over the PLC is that the braking distance is better by 1 to 2 meters, else the tread and contact patch is as soft as PLC.
XM2 offers better fuel efficiency so the higher cost of 4000/- should get offset with fuel saving.
+1000, My wagon R FE improved by 1 kmpl at least. However you are going to
upsize hence it will be no loss no profit situation on FE front as compared to BS Turanza ER 60 or Primacy 3 ST. (these two would reduce FE by 2 percent)
soft rubber on Michelin is intentional by design to absorb shocks but not sure how durable it will be]
xm 2 is not as soft as rest of the Michelins but it is not as hard as BS Turanza. And the video shows that the sidewall is durable. I have xm2 on my wagon R and believe me they are wonderful on highways and bad roads too.
